- Unfortunately, some of our 2.0T's are plagued by small inconvenient issues, one of which just happens to be the dreaded "Wastegate rattle". Today we're gonna work to install it WITHOUT removing the turbo or doing anything crazy, small hands may be required.

Had the same sound on my Tiguan and the clipped worked for just over a year. But now the sound is back 😞
Unfortunately for most people it isn't a permanent solution
Is it possible that this noise can be mistaken for timing chain noise ? My a5 2.0 tfsi gen 1 does this rattle noise on down revs

Isn't this mod easier with the car on axle stands, accessing it from underneath? Looking to fix this issue anytime soon
If you’re fwd, underneath is the way.
Quattro and 4motion do not make it easy.

I have a mk5 GTI with the 2.0 TFSI EA113 engine, should be the same as yours. I installed the wastegate clip 5 times but they fell off immediately. Turns out i got the clips that were meant for the newer TSI EA888 engines. The hole in the clip is too big for the round part on my wastegate. Do you have a link to the clip that you used?
My engine is an EA888, so unfortunately I don’t have a solution for a mk5! Sorry brother!

I had this same issue few months back. Ended up replacing the turbo with a new ko3. Didn't know these clips were a thing Oops
if its any comfort, the rattle on deceleration / coming off boost is a symptom of a worn out wastegate which = a new turbo. The clip is designed to stop the wastegate actuator arm from rattling where it meets the wastegate on acceleration - it typically happens between 2k - 3k rpm. it is why it is designed to clip into that specific position. I also had a new turbo a couple of years ago on my Scirocco after i tried the clip and still got boost error codes.
This is correct, if you have boost error codes then it will be time for a new turbo, the clip is only really a temporary solution for the noise only
I have rattle on Revs from 2k on my tdi all garages struggling to find also no errors showing any help appreciated
Yay,i have same issue on a4 b7,does it affect performance,and is it safe to drive with this rattle issue? Cous from what i saw,theres no separate part to be replaced,only whole turbo,which is absurd...
I believe depending on the turbo design some shops can replace the rod that connects to the waste gate, it also only begins to effect performance in extreme cases (I.e the whole arm inside the turbo no longer seals)
@@ThatGuyTyy Hmm,im gonna visit a shop soon,so i hope it wont be whole turbo thats need to go byebye,eh. Also it kinda feels slugish,idk if thats the reason,i had 1.8T version before 163hp one,and it pulled from 2000rpm ,you could feel the boost,on this 2.0 TFSI tho,it kicks around 2500-2600,but only at near 3000rpm you can feel a decent kick,so something is wrong im sure of it,both cars are 6speed manuals with quattro.Ty for the reply :)
Goodluck, hopefully nothing too serious, didn’t know the Quattro had a manual option! But must just be cause us Canadians got nothing cool haha 😂
@@ThatGuyTyy same in the uk, I had a tt quattro manual. Same as my current scirocco tsi, she's just started to rattle so I'm going to pop the clip on and re scan just to check and save to get a new turbo. ASAP. only had my car a mth and I do drive her hard, so I've prob scared it to death now it shakes in fear 🤣

i have an 2008 audi a3 1.8 fsi, iv got the code p0171 & my car has a loss of power when i get around 60-100, an i get off the gas and go again & it changes into gear and drives fineish.. iv searched around under my hood alot an clean the maf... any ideas ?
Your turbo wastegate is clogged
I have the same issue with my 2014 polo gti. In 2nd gear then the car losses power then I need to take foot off the gas pedal and put it back then the car picks up speed again. Have you solved this yet?

Get a civic and give err they don’t have any issues
no way, get a gti and see how a little interest in maintenance is worth the payoff (of not having to drive a civic)
