- This video is a little bit outside of my usual schedule, but the weather was so wonderful over the weekend, and we had no football or soccer matches, no birthday parties to attend to...
So I could spend most of my time outside, clear out the Greenhouse and catch up with Kitchen Garden jobs.

Lovely update my friend and we have got rain all weekend so my potatoes have gone outside for some fresh rain water.

Thank you, Terry 😊💚🌿I've been keeping all of my potatoes outside for the last week too, even though we had frost for a couple of night sin a row, but had them covered with fleece 🤞Lets hope, no harm was done 😊💚🌿

I wanted to do everything at the same time, I would have loved to have a tracker for the amount of steps I took that day😂But, yes, I am delighted to get on with the planting out and have a bit of a progress with the seedlings.

Thanks 🌱🌱. Funny you should say about the jackdaws, I put some of that wool matting down as a weed suppressant, every single last strand taken over a few days 😂😂
The jackdaws are sometime worse than magpies 😂 Anything goes for their nest building. They don't touch the nets, but even if I would have the fleece under the net, they'd try to poke at it. 💚🌿
lol! Yep, last Sunday I was out in the garden at about 7am too. Ha ha, it was the best day we had here in Clare in a long time. Was totally wrecked after it & working in Monday too. Glad it wasn’t just me.. even your lovely chickens were enjoying the bit of sun.

😂 Thanks Danny, I actually panicked for that split second....thinking - did I forget to sow Swede or Brussels Sprouts 🤣 It must have been, how trouble free they were as the germination and seedling growth, so I didn't have to think about them.... Yes, the Oca will get it, same with the Asparagus...this weekend 🤔🤭💚🌿

Great cabbage, I really want to grow a decent one this year. I'm trying sulphur, bfb, potato fertilizer and seaweed with my potatoes this year. Great way to utilise your beds with the snowball turnip, I was wondering where to plant mine, in the broccoli bed and not the cabbage 😂 😊🥔💪👌👍
Hi, Nick 😊I was delighted, the leaves on the spring cabbage were ''peelable'' as it was like a slug hotel... I was able to thoroughly clean each leaf, and nothing went to waste, not sure how a standard head cabbage would have turned out....🙃..I thought about the potatoes, reading your comment, and I usually add chicken manure pellets with the seaweed granules to the soil mix, but this time I forgot.....and up until now, I hadn't realised I had forgotten about it 😂😂, I might need to fertilise during the summer because of this now...

I do grow strawberries, but not properly last year, it's because vine weevils destroyed a lot of my plants. I have an idea to combat that, and so I can grow strawberries again, as I adore them, but it will take a bit of a budget, so I need to save up first 😊💚🌿
Enjoy your gardening i do all my garden myself though work its my first year having a polytunnel cant get usex to it more used to being outside hopefully i get some ideas by watching you grest work

Hi Maiju I'm still digging plot over, been so wet In Durham UK, nearly there plenty of crops in the greenhouses to plant out, we need more heat or wind here to dry the plots , Steve Colwell
Hi Stephen, I would have been in the same place as you (minus the digging 😉) if it wasn't for that weekend, and also it had been so, so windy all along, I would have just put the seedlings out to be eaten by slugs. Delighted to have it a bit under control now 😊💚🌿
@@spudsandroses I have 12 raised beds 13ft x4 ft that are no dig but have an area that I dig every year. I like to see the difference in crops, would like to send a pic of my plot if that's ok Maiju, Steve Colwell

Also, I really like your metal planters, especially the one in the greenhouse! Do you find the metal heats up or gets too hot in summer? Or is it okay? 🤔 I'm trying to think of what I can do in my own glass greenhouse... I'd really like a raised bed in there and the metal looks so nice!

We had a fabulous few days, but the rain is back now 😂 Spuds with the broken tennis ball 🤭, he has taken it out of the bin a few times now😂
I love the metal planters, and I wouldn't mind getting more of them. They are so tidy and neat! They are quite wide though....80cm, so I'm not sure if they'll fit into your glass greenhouse. If you're doing a central bed? I have left about 2ft walk space around it (my greenhouse is 3m across)... they don't get hot and the vegetables thrive in them. The greenhouse metal bed is just a shorter version of my large carrot bed in the kitchen garden.

I think you’re right, I don’t think one will fit 😅😭 I could possibly put one to the side, or along the back.. but I’m worried I’ll create hiding places for sluggos and creepy crawlies if I have to leave only a small gap behind it 😅 oh well, I will dream of one day having a beautiful big garden like you!! With space for nice planters and a rose garden ofc hehe 💖 thank you Maiju 💖

The neighbours cats... I know. Doesn't help that I found a crying kitten and brought it home. Then gave it to my neighbours... of course it still comes looking for food and always finds my fresh loose soil!

My days are all a blur! I don't just mean you releasing on a Tues but I'm also like, when was this warm weather?? 😂 I'm soooo cold today. I need to get sowing again but running out of room now too 🙈
🤣🤣I was only thinking of you and the 12 days of Easter yesterday evening....This video is an extra, because of these extreme weather circumstances 😁 I also was giggling, when your video notification came up, knowing mine was due to go live in 6 hrs... You have done a better time management (I haven't watched any videos at all since Sunday 🙈, tut-tut-tut to me)
I will have another coming out on Thursday 🤞as normal. The heatwave was in Ireland, on our side from Friday until Monday evening. It is cold again now, but still dry so far....
I was working Friday and Monday though, so it left the weekend, but not all the time could go towards gardening. Also I'm getting the look at home....i.e too much time is going into YT... so 1 video a week is more than enough with a full time job, family, household and animals, otherwise I'll be in ''bad books''😉💚🌿
@@spudsandroses haha. My colleague also commented this week that maybe I need to take a YT break. It is like having a second job! I'm just exhausted lately. But it's also cold and the house is a mess with the builders. I want to sow more things but there's loads to pot on 🙈 I might go out later and put a podcast on and blitz some of these brassicas to make way for squash, courgettes, cucumber, sweetcorn... 🙈🙈🙈
To keep it cool in the greenhouse, you need to make a window on the roof and install an automatic opener on this window. also put an automatic on the door

Our weather is usually very mild (temperate oceanic climate), and we don't get those extremes of heat, we do get plenty of strong winds 💚🌿

Such a frustrating Spring! Here in NW England (Chester) we are having frosts so potato tops are frosted; trouble with germination even in heated propagators - no tomatoes, leeks, sp.onions. What is happening! However, gladioli are going well so I will have something pretty to look at!
Hi, Honore 💚🌿 You've hit a bad spell with the seeds, and this really makes you doubt your own capability. Don't loose faith, try again 🥰 We, too had frosty mornings and I covered as many of the larger potato leaves as possible, I didn't have enough of fleece to cover every pot, so lets hope they didn't get badly damaged 😊💚🌿

Hi, Justina. The hoops have been very helpful. I ordered them from gardening naturally, UK. They are high tunnel hoops, taller than usual ones. They are a very lightweight metal.

Sounds like you are pretty much on top of everything. Your garden looks tidy and ready to grow for you! Hopefully all the critters that also like enjoying what's growing will spare your garden. How nice of you to provide litter boxes for the neighbor's cats! 😉

I actually love cats, but those ones I never ''see'' ....only the evidence left behind by them 😂😂 It is also annoying they're passing a lot of other ornamental beds, just to do it in the kitchen garden💚🌿

Once it is dry and and slightly breezy, it is a heavenly gardening weather. Just a break from all of the rain for a week would do wonders to the damage slugs can do to the seedlings that got planted out. Will keep them hiding under the soil for a bit longer 😊💚🌿
