@TheFastLaneCar- There should be no surprise, that a $150,000 vehicle, has a better interior, vs a $50,000 vehicle. To calculate power to weight more accurately, tq has to be included. Example: If the BMW has a combined Hp of 357, & combined Tq. Of 535, add together, then divide. So 892 divided by 2= 446 combined power output average, divided by weight. Then the mustang's 486 Hp, & 415 Tq.= 901 divided by 2= approx. the same @ 450.5 combined power output average, ( @ sea Level ), not to mention its 200 Lbs. heavier, + Rwd, vs Awd. Bmw is amazing looking car , makes the mustang look like a turd in comparison . Used or not the BMW is soo much nicer car for money . 2015 BMW Looks 20 -30 years NEWER then the Mustang . Would take BMW 100 Xs over the mustang . Its a real sports car , it looks 100Xa better / more exciting / better then latest mustang and as as a V8 mustang that is supposed to suck at turns , be plasticy and fat that as a Muscle car that costs a mess of money now it will go fast in straighline and stomp more expensive nicer cars but it doesnt actually do thatb. The I 8 is beautiful . On road ive seen a BMW I 8 with blue anodized bigger wheels and bigger stickier tires with white raised lettering and it was one of the most STUNNING shapes and cars Ive ever seen on road with white blue and back color option . I hate BMWs because of price , cost of ownership , poor egineering and cost to keep running for second owner make them disposeable after warranty / suckers choice as car with fixes costing as much as price of depreciated car making them litterally worthless as a used car in many cases . Often Ugly or not cairing about appearence and just the badge , interior and performance and iuxury for owner who never keeps a car and always gets new car at 36k or whenever warranty is over . BUT I8 is one of a couple BMWs that is actually attrractive and cool looking for modern BMW . Look more sleek , exotic and futuristic aa a 2015 then 2025 cars and just destroys the mustang in drag race where its supposed to be its one trick as a pony and a better handling car that gets WAY BETTER when you get rid of skinny non performance tires the mustang wilk look even more like a heavy old turd . Mustang looks bland and is a FORD . This is one of the times i would pay for a used BMW which at 100k off is a much nicer 10X nicer, faster and more special car that deserves being kept up then a common and slow fat muscle / sports car that only sounds good and eats tires and gets destroyed by a fancy eco sports car designed to highlight stylish effeciency and not brute force that destroys the mustan in a straightline and destroys itbinnall other ways as 9 year old car . White BMW I 8 with ELECTRIC BLUE ANODIZED WHEELS + HIGH PERFORMANCE FAT WHITE LETTER TIRES has 100X more road prescence then any mustang. Looks 100 years into future compared to a blobby tesla and has more performance then you can use for a street csr and destroys a V8 Mustang in drag race wearing skinny eco tires . All day the BMW , like a Pantera , 308 , XJ Jag and some classic lookers like BMW M1 which is one of the other BMWs that is actually beautiful looking the I8 looks special . Just good wheels and tires and it looks 5 X more exotic then in stock trim where it looks like mid enginencar from 2075 . BMW all day over slow stang with ugly interior with tech but done ugly and cheap making old BMW lo9k futuristic and mustang look like cheap screens stuck on and after thought with terrible aesthetics that look cheap and hurtful to eye and look down on mustang buyer as used to cheesey plastic interior so big long screen should be fine and seem like tech and high end mixed with plastic but just ruins the look and gets beat by hybrid with 3 cyl and beat bad . If you want to flex and catch someone’s eye get the I8 but if you want a traditional v8 that will be a classic and will be special forever, mustang all day.
Yes, I like my own comments 🤦♂
The new ZR1 Corvette is nice, especially in convertible. Ford is dropping the ball. They should make a new mid engine Thunderbird to be the Corvette fighter. Ford GT is ridiculously expensive and v6, Thunderbird should be affordable and V8. Similar to Corvette.
Great video but it ain’t no TESLA !!
The 2025 Ford Mustang GT, GT performance pack and the Dark horse are more expensive. They also got rid of the high performance pack for the 2.3L four pot
Had an i8 sadly got rid of it when BMW stopped supporting it and stopped working on them! I have an ICE car again because manufacturers do not support EV's long term.
I feel like the i8 is not representative of most manufacturers support of EVs, considering it was a very rare car with bespoke components. Most modern EVs are built with shared components
@@justinbecker4772 Exactly right just like how my neighbor received delivery of his Fisker after a 4 1/2 year of waiting and they just went out of business and he said his vehicle needs service does not run and is also only worth 32% of its value on trade in 💀 I feel you don't understand EV's yet kid. My 2 year old low mile model Y is worth exactly 51% what I paid because the technology changed so fast they are literally worthless second hand. ICE still retains way more value and I sold many trucks for more than I paid two years later when using family discounts
@@Shenkosky lol, anyone who looked at fisker's books knew that company was doomed.
I rely on people like you to eat the depreciation so I can buy cheap EV's. Looking forward to my $35k Ionic 5 N in a year.
That bade Mustang GT auto comes with 3.15 gears. Maybe the optional 3.55's amd summer tires would jave helped with the launch and overall acceleration
I remember the reviews for the i8 saying the factory tires really let it down. It had Bridgestone ecopias or something. Does that one have better rubber on it? I wonder if the mods for the mini would work on the i8.
FYI: We put P Zeros on it.
I have Michelin ps4 on mine. Way better then the factory tires it came with.
High altitude and hybrid… a lot of the i8 comparisons from the time were at sea level.
Why Ford hasn't included a electric motor/V8 combo is crazy... look at the C8 eray. Ford please take notes
The i8 is not a Supercar.
Yeah. It has the looks, but that's about it
Looks, mid-engined and the carbon-tube chassis made that to be considered as one.
@@giorx5But low on power compared to the price.
@@aaron-fauth Nice point! That's another reason to categorize it as a supercar. They always tend to be overpriced.
@@giorx5 It is extremely low on power for a big car like the i8. It is not a supercar and a sports car at best.
Can we try the G22 M240i vs the Mustang
I still dont understand the mini engine. That car deserved a proper M engine.
I8 ran a 12.5@113 Mph in the 1/4mile per Car and Driver October 2016
Same as the motor trend numbers on the mustang GT 12.5
People consistently ran 12.2s but most magazine companies seemed to hit mid 12s. I watched one run a 12.1 with different tires
February 24, 2015 Car and Driver - BMW i8: 12.1 @ 116 mph., 3.6 to 60.
People were disappointed with the i8's performance because it was the price of a 911 Turbo. Not that the performance was outright bad. Just not good for $150K.
Bmw all day. Cant believe i am choosing a used German car and A BMW at that but its just such an namazing design , proves it STOMPS BRAND NEW GIANT HP V8 CARS
Best straightline deal on the market? You must not be looking at EVs. A used Kia EV6 GT goes for a bit over 30k and does 11s in the quarter.
Yes, mustang still a better deal.
@@joshc606 He said "one of the best straightline performance deals you can buy" around 0:30. If you metric is a) fast in a straight line and b) cheap then a muscle car on a tired old platform is not a good deal when a korean economy SUV can take 2 seconds on it in the quarter mile.
ComeOnMan......There's a reason why $150k car loses that much money. After the warranty is gone. So is your savings. I take the Mustang with a new car warranty.
Engine in the right spot makes all the difference...
NA Mustang at altitude is a dud.
If you would’ve been in a 19 BMW I8 or newer it would’ve been a bigger gap than that
Pretty sure the i8 was never considered a supercar. 3 cylinder engine and less than 400hp in 2015? Nah. Looks great though
Ford mustang
The BMW I8 could’ve been a seriously cool car If it wasn’t let down by the Power train
If the I8 is a supercar than so is a Corvette
What's the rear diff ratio on the mustang?
The answer to the title of this video is YES!
357hp bmw is sickening that car from the factory should’ve came 600+hp especially for 150k
Does the mustang not have a launch mode ? If so did u use it ?
I like the channel, scenery, test area and the hosts. Unfortunately almost every result of comparisons like this are nullified by the altitude. The bigger a gas engine is the more air it needs. V8's in these vids have been 1.5 to 3.5 sec slower then sea level. Hybrids & EV's not so much.
Do you wonder how hard that is on the engine and transmission flooring it in multiple drag races?
Well they are both marketed as sports cars.
Considering the Mustang is handicapped by elevation and is stock, I'm sure the transmission is fine. As for the i8, it has 2 electric motors and a turbo 3... the transmission is fine here as well, lol
i8 is pretty quick indeed! but yea 150k new was too much for the performance lol like idk I bet you could get something like a 911 GTS for that price at the time
I don’t know what loses drag races more…the mustangs or challengers? 🤦🏽♂️
The german manufacturers always under rate their power & torque figures. There are tons of examples of them punching above their weight class.
Its insane how the i8 looks newer then most electric blobs being released today. Look at u tesla.
So in conclusion ...the 2nd hand bmw is better looking, better quality materials inside, faster, more economical, and cooooler❤😂
BMW I 8 runs a quarter mile in 12.50's
Just curious, but comparing Apples to Apples what was the performance of a Mustang GT back in 2016 at that elevation?
I can also buy a 2023 840i XDrive with 15K miles for $49K too.
You were surprised???
You had to know the I8 is a 4 sec car
This is old news
imagen that electric and turbo'd power train does better than na at mile above sea level
$50k for that 3 cyl power car is way too much. 😂 Another $50k in repairs will follow soon. Its an old BMW afterall.
Can you guys please race your mustang and GR 86 special edition 😊
Is the gr86 tuned? lol because that’s not a fair race
@@HolaSoyJaydepends on the race...a drag race? Sure the Mustang all the way... on track? The gr86 would be better, especially with experienced drivers in both.
@@anthonyortega3136 that’s true but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a track day on this channel
Ya that is a base mustang. Put it against a dark horse or mach 1
Forced induction vs naturally aspirated , forced induction wins if they got same horsepower out put figures And same weight ...
I'm sure the maintenance and repairs on the I8 compared to the Mustang are even also.....................................
i8 looks cool and it's pretty quick but at 10 years old, how much longer will the battery pack last? How much would it cost to replace?
I'll take the Mustang.
7k if I remember to replace. Il upgrade mine to solid state when the time comes
You ever thought about swapping drivers on a second run? Could eliminate diver skill
I think the newest Prius looks better.
