Oh boy do I have some crazy con stories I remember one year at BLFC I was physically assaulted in fursuit, like, full on ROUND HOUSE KICKED in the spine. The con and security dealt with it WONDERFULLY Though I had to go to physical therapy for a while because my lower spine was dislocated/thrown out Note to self: dont go anywhere alone....ANYWHERE

There are lots of normies who like furries. Anthrocon is a good example. The people of Pittsburgh are so welcoming to the furry community. Of course it helps that we dump millions of $ into the local economy...I’d love to see that reaction to DenFur but the convention is on the outskirts of town and ignored by the media.
My first time suiting and my first time going to a con, I went to ACFI 2019 in a digigrade suit, I am an adult but I am VERY short and can pass as a child with my voice (though I mostly don't talk in suit) I was sitting at a table with others and a man (40-50's probably) went to motion for a high five, I said sure. Suddenly though he asks for a hug, I had given a few so I complied and hugged him, then that's when it happened. He didn't let go. He said "Squeeeeee" (the actual word and not the noise) and I laughed and tried to pull away but he HELD me there and said "You have to say squeeeee". I did and he let me go and then proceeded to Scratch my suits nose and then lay his hand uncomfortably close to my hips to which I then diverted that buy lifting his hand with my paw. My friend and I left the area FAST. (ACFI was a good con though and I will be going next year)

Kansas city comic con sometimes has furries, I seen a group in a congo line during kccc 2017. I plan to go to kccc 2020 (hopefully) with my partial fursuit finished.
Naka-kon had a fur meet that had about 35 people in suit. We kinda took over that grass courtyard area. But I was actually talking about an actual, fulfledged fur con. Need to dig sniff around a bit, but October I think is the target window.
Ash Eagle, holy crap - MFF 2014 was my first furry con, period. I was just there for the one day. I was in the ballroom when it went down, and by that point it was the end of a game of telephone. We heard "Oh, there was a gas leak in one of the rooms." Didn't even set off the alarms down there. We just all milled out and stared at the cops and EMTs and they stared at us, and no one knew who was safe. I noped the fuck out of there, and walked to the Blue Line stop and slept the night at a friend's dorm. I was too wiped to go all the way back to my own dorm, and at that point I wasn't out to my parents. I'd told them I was at a "convention," that's it, so would probably not visit to do laundry that week. The following Sunday, every December our Swedish family friends hold a carol-singing party. (Even if you're not a Christian anymore, why turn down pepparkakor and glögg?) And I saw my dad there. And he was like "You went to a convention last weekend, right?" "Right." "Comic convention?" "No." "[Major] convention?" "No." "Because I saw a convention on the news for a terrorist gas attack." "...yeah, it was that one." *dead silence* "...I guess I should have guessed a long time ago. At least you're not dead." "That kinda thing doesn't happen often, for what it's worth." "...Why would a terrorist attack a furry convention?" On the bus from Chicago to Toronto for FE, years later, I recounted that story to my greyhound seatmate, and they said they knew the guy who they're fairly certain did the attack. And gave me evidence. And I'm convinced. But identities are secret. (He's a lifeguard, so that solves one part of the mystery.) So yeah. It's a weirdly big part of my life. I want to start collecting people's stories of the event.

at anime con i had my ears and tail and was showing a lady form a booth a and friend on my tail has sqeaker on it i becan to leave when lady came from behind her booth and yanked my tail hard and proeced to play with sqeaker in my tail hold the tail and follow me around delaers den for 15 minturs neeedles i took my tail out her hand and tell some con staff about her she was not welcome back
I got one for you. In the mid 90s, I was attending a fantasy/gaming con in Atlanta. Vernon Wells, the guy who played Welz in the Road Warrior popped up in front of my table, and leafed through my artwork, then said "So you like drawing naked animal women?", I shrugged, and said "It's a living.", he chuckles and wandered on.
At my first EuroFurence me and my Roommate had some problems with our room. The window was slightly crooked and wouldn't budge so we couldn't let air in the room, next the AC was dirty, like really really dirty(my roomie has asthma) and at last the TV wasn't working. We ended up showing up at the reception like six times! Always having the same douche either rolling his eyes at us or saying they will do something about it. After the fith time they send someone with us for cleaning the AC and fixing the window. The TV still didn't worked. We showed up the sixth time again the same douche. We explained politely that the TV still didn't worked and then he said "Just go into some one others room and watch TV there!" Please keep in mind that the hotel is a 4 star hotel and I'm not on the picky side, but I get angry if someone just thinks he can get away with simply not doing his job. I went to the con ops, snatched a security guy and went with him to the desk. After that they finally send not one, but TWO house techs. They apologized to us for their colleague and tied their best. The TV still didn't worked at the end, but to be honest after the third time asking for help with the TV I was just down for the principle. Yeah this may sound pitty I know, but I can't help it. I just get mad if someone just don't want to do his job. At the end of the con we were told by the security guy,that we weren't the only one complaining about this dude being rude and unhelpful towards other furries. The next year I couldn't see this dude anywhere. Is okay not liking the fandom. You do you, but at least act professional...
This year I decided to attend Edmonton expo 2019. I brought my floofy suit and put my head on as soon as I stepped out of the car. It was a really good day to suit nonetheless which was pretty dope because of the breeze that came my way. Entering the expo space, I seen another fursuiter and decided to greet them with something in between blowing a kiss and waving as I wagged my tail. Someone decided to yell out, “Ew furries, kill it .” Even thougj no one really asked what he thout about furries?? And my heart rate began beaTING SIS. I thankfully had my lovely dwaggy handler to make sure nothing happened. I ended up meeting with a bunch of fursuiters and we just stopped caring about what people said or thought, But if someone touched my suit Id square up.

Once I took my suit head off briefly at an anime con and some guy came up when he saw my face and said “mid life crisis much?” A valid statement, to be honest. At the same con I waved at a female cosplayer (not a furry) who promptly hid behind a pole and gave me a look like she wanted to actually kill me. Also I wasn’t allowed in the con space’s restaurant because I had a big bag (with my suit in it) and I had nowhere to keep it since I wasn’t staying at the hotel, so the “friends” I went with said they’d go in and bring food out to me. Then they left the con (through a secret exit inside the restaurant) and drove to a Denny’s a few blocks away, without telling me and would not answer their phones. I sat outside the restaurant for an hour waiting, since I thought they were still in there. And even after all that they didn’t even bring me anything. Moral of the story, don’t wear a fursuit to an anime con.
My worst one was at my first con (MFF 2012). I had a problem checking into my room so I had a couple local friends I knew from my hometown room with me to help me out, little did I know it would turn south in a heartbeat. I get back to my room late Saturday night after the rave and it sounded like my roomies were fighting. Lots of yelling, banging around...and as soon as I walked into my room, there was one of my roomies standing by the bathroom. One glance into the room, there was vomit on the floor, booze bottles everywhere, take-out food containers turned over all over the place... Turn the corner and there's my other 2 room mates on the floor, sick as hell. Turned out they both drank a whole large bottle of vodka each and got alcohol poisoning. Turns out they had been fighting while I was out and all that ruffhousing made them sicker...And keep in mind, this all took place in a single bedroom way up on the top floor. Thankfully there is a good end to this story, my friend Joseph Racoon found me wandering the main floor by myself at almost 4 AM and he called me over, I told him what was happening and he took me up to his room and let me sleep on his floor. I'm so grateful to some furries around this fandom at least. Also I do remember the MFF 2014 chlorine incident....I almost ended up in one of the ambulances (and I was coughing up black gunky stuff after I got home from the con). Thankfully I got to go to the Hilton across the way to say safe.
Leaving the Con without a battier charger to charge your phone in a location you have never been before. Leaving the con without your phone. Getting lost and trying to locate a hotel. Don't do drugs... Just don't die, that's all ya got to do.
Somthing funny: in a news report this happend news annoncer: Two furrys saved a mans life! A dino princess and a cowboy tiger! THEY SAT ON THE CRIMANAL till the cops arrived! ( bruhh i bet it was a dragonn bruh plush suits are nice )
The film festival story unfortunately reminded me of a similar personal experience: I was in college and on my way to a Halloween party. I step out of my dorm onto the streets of NYC, across the street from the Gramercy theater where some people are standing in line for a concert. One guy flat-out sprints across the street to me and, without asking, just starts taking pictures with me, and i just go along with it, not assuming anything. Then he starts HUMPING MY LEG and runs away before I even realize what's going on, and since I had zero peripheral vision, I couldn't see where he went. The worst part is this WASN'T the first time I'd been sexually harassed in my fursuit (see my other comment).
Went to Fur Reality this year as my first furcon! One horror story, when my mom was picking me and my brother up Halloween night, her foot slip and there goes car wheel onto mainly my left big toe.. It hurt and my toe felt numb the rest of the night.. Next morning, no pain or numbness and I visit my schools nurse's office to have a nurse look over my foot and it is determined that there is no lasting damage and I enjoyed the convention so much without problems!
Ash Coyote It did suck but overall, I tried to stay calm as I suffered.. But by the time I got to Fur Reality con space the Friday, I was walking around without any pain! During the convention, I got lots of goodies, attended the art jam, musical furs meet & greet, Science, Pseudoscience, and Outright Crap, and Foxes and Peppers all ages show, and had an incredible experience!
My friend told me about the volleyball interactions the first time the shared space happened (I had gone in 2010 before that time). I explained to some Russian tourists who had broken English what was going on in the hotel. To which I said, "Cartoons come to life." I've seen Russian/Eastern European cartoons they have talking animals too. This past year in 2020 it seemed the volleyball groups have been prepped in advance, were taking pictures, and enjoying themselves. I had an "I'm old." moment with some parents riding down the elevator. It was all good though.
The only wild con experience I have was at Furnal Equinox 2017. I was going to Pepper Coyote's 18+ show in the evening, so I went down to the con space in the elevator to see the show. Unbeknownst to me, my father (who also went to the con with me) was searching all over for me, so when the show ended, I went back down and my dad comes out after about five minutes of waiting. He was like "I was looking ALL OVER for you!!!" and he had one of the con staff with him (BT-Armistice). We laughed about it for a while. However, the rest of the con was me suffering from bouts of intense anxiety about the internet's perception of furries at the time and articles of crimes done by terrible people who happened to be in the fandom vs. what I was seeing IRL. I had to take a break from the fandom for a while after that, but I'm going BACK to FE in 2020! Hope to see you, Ash, either there or at any American cons I go to in the future!
I'm not a furry myself, but it is fun and interesting to see all the different subcultures/groups on the internet. The world is full of fascinating people.

Oh I once went through the furry backrooms at a small convention in my city, FurSquared. Essentially some of the rooms are downstairs in this basement area and there isn’t an elevator, but a lot of stairs. My handler and I both have disabilities where stairs can be hard for us. So essentially we asked con staff downstairs about an elevator. They had one through the kitchen and all of these other dark rooms, it was a warehouse-like room with all of these stored decorations for Christmas and Halloween and stuff, 10/10 would do again.
My second Anthrocon, 2012, my friend/handler and i were coming back to our hotel after midnight. We walked by the bar, where two very, VERY drunk women were hanging out with their sober male friend and immediately begged to take photos with me. Being drunk, there was a lot of shoving, tripping, bearing their weight down on me etc... and then in the middle of it all, one of them GRABED MY ASS. My handler (shout out to my buddy Seren) immediately got them off of me and the women's friend apologized profusely. The women apologized as well, but I'm pretty sure they were too drunk to know what was going on, let alone what they were apologizing for. If that wasn't bad enough, I called my then-girlfriend the next day to tell her about it and her completely sincere response was "Well, look at what you were wearing!" (it should come as no surprise that she straight-up sexually assaulted me herself a few years later, which is why we broke up). Like I said in my other comment, that's unfortunately not the only time I was sexually harassed in my fursuit.
You are the best furry TH-camr I've ever watched lmao. Your personality is bright and bubbly and your content is super entertaining! So far, the only furry con that I went to was MCFC 2018 and it was a blast for my first con. I didn't have my tail at the time nor did I have any kind of suit to wear, but that didn't stop me from having a great time. I have my tail now and haven't had much chance to really wear it, but when I do, it feels like it's a part of me that I never want to let go of. Dunno if that's weird or if it's normal, but I'm certainly not complaining.
I went to further confusion 2020, it was my first convention!!! I may a lot of my idols and it was a amazing experience! Their were the volleyball people there. Ugh. There was this huge group that came up to me and said “oh I love your suit!!” And I got lots of love, I asked them if they’d be back next year and they said yes, and I said me too! So now I’m fursuit friends with people so yeh. Next year if we can go we will because it’s a hour drive from my place. I’m making a full suit so I think they’ll like that
Here’s a lil con story... I live close to Further Confusion. This was about the second year after we moved into the brand new section of the convention hall. As you all know we have the girls volleyball competition (as a sistering convention) The fursuit lounge (headless lounge) is upstairs. Same floor as the competitions. There’s a bit of a hallway and the back is tented off. There’s a little opening and usually you’d find a security man just chillin there. Right? Well. Of the times that year we’d see the volley ball girls coming into the fursuit lounge (which is on our side of the hall, which has concluded that they SNUCK past security up there) they were TAKING PICTURES of fursuiters in the lounge. Of course dressed in full suit and such. Which bothered a LOT of furries who are trying to rest. Even I was bothered. And I’ve seen other furries tell them to please leave and that even telling them there was a sign outside to not take pictures in the fursuit lounge. It kept going and eventually we just called security and they were outta our hair.
17:35 She may have gotten fired because of her actions or she was doing far worse things than you knew and her boss found that out. So instead of keeping her around and having her possibly cause the hotel to loose more money by her bad behavior (she may have gotten other reports before the con or was stealing from people even before the con) they just fired her. Honestly if she had enough reports and things stacked against her and they proved to be right, I would've fired her too.
Man that's crazy.. out of my experience in the 21 years of attending cons (mainly Comic Con), I only had a drafting pen stolen from my pocket in sometime around 2008. I'm still pissed about it xD
If this is your first time buying a suit I wouldn't recommend getting a commission from lemonbrat. Their prices are incredibly high and their customer service isn't great. I would recommend commissioning a smaller maker!!
Not a furry con or a fursuiting story but a horrible furry experience. I remember when my niece allowed me to wear my wolf tail and ears somewhere with her. It was a skating rink. I had a tail I made and Pawstar ears to match it. Someone pulled my tail and I just turned around look so upset about it. I continued to go on like nothing happened. They could've broke my handmade tail I spent 2 days on with barely any sleep to make but I'm glad they didn't. My oldest brother and his wife was there with us and someone ended up throwing a plastic water bottle at my brother's wife. There was this person who howled like a wolf quietly as I passed by them too.. I was upset about it but ignored it the whole time. It was this one group of friends and they were later kicked out and temporarily banned for a month. They were being very rude to me and my family just because I wore a black wolf tail and wolf ears to a skating rink. They didn't even know what a furry was and probably never saw something like this before.
I’ve heard of the gas attack at mff 2014 I just didn’t know what time it happened, so it happened in the early morning hours, I went out to explore the con but was told I couldn’t get a pass cause it was to late to sell them
I have a con story, it wasn't really that bad but it could have been worse. It was my first full blown furry convention I went with a friend to Anthrocon 2019 for the first time and the first day we were there everything seemed to be going just fine. We got set up in our hotel and it was time to head out to the con for the first time and I wanted to wear my 3/4 suit that I made of my hyena character. I didn't really think to bring like 20 waters so I just went with 1 (BIG MISTAKE) It was like 90 degrees Fahrenheit and 80% humidity on that day so it was supppper deadly hot and I was wearing a suit during this. Our hotel was pretty close to a shuttle stop that takes people to the convention so we got there no problem, but after waiting in line for like 10 minutes to get our tags I forgot my ID so we had to go back to the hotel. I was already feeling like death from the walk there. Waiting for the bus I started feeling a little sick, we got on and off the bus and I was still ok. Once we got off the hotel was only about a 5 minute walk. Half way of walking to the hotel I got dizzy and lightheaded and nauseous. I ended up leaning over a railing with my head off just trying to keep myself from throwing up. we FINALLY got back to the hotel after what seemed like an hour to me and I hobbled straight to the bathroom and took my suit off and INSTANTLY felt 101% better, I was so relieved. I didn't let that get me down though, the rest of the con I went without a suit, I bought me and my friend a kigu and we went around in that cause a kigu I could handle. I even met some pupufurs like Raze and Telephone. Moral of the story Bring water, take breaks, drink water. I believe I was getting heat stroke and it could've been a lot worse, I felt like I was about to black out.
One of our "staff" for Anime NebrasKon 2019 kept inappropriately hitting on is other staff and went from Health and Wellness to Gen staff (lowest tier after volunteer level), then proceeded to not only not work their hours they agreed to, but continued to give medical advice, even though he was not allowed to. The year before (same con) I had 3 sensory overload induced panic attacks, including one at our "Dead Dog party" (an end-of-con party for staff and guests [not attendees]) that lasted at least 2 hours...
I swear nothing strange ever happens to me. Closest I've seen is a man at my local bus plaza yelling at an old man who just got out of the restroom saying he was going to fight him for what he supposedly said. Pretty sure that guy was drugged up
That reminds me of when I saw a guy yelling at a homeless man in the city near me when I was going to my first concert, the rest of the night was fun though

So I’ve been to FC a few times, and like you said there is also a volleyball tournament going on. We’d be walking the convention center and we’d get snickers and weird looks from parents and the players. Most of the time they just wanted pictures, but after I learned that some friends I lost touch with also go to the volleyball tournament! I was lucky enough not to run into them (that would have been awkward) XD
I don't have a crazy story from a convention, but a friend of mine does. He had the misfortune of being in the same room as Chris-chan. Said you could smell them before you even saw them, and this was back in I think 2017.
On the Twitter alternatives, there is a platform which partially solves the problem: Mastodon, and its various Instances (servers), are community-run and -moderated; they don't thrive off drama, because of the lack of ads and the increased content warning; and there are specific Instances for furries, which partially link to the rest of Mastodon through the Fediverse. Personally I've created an account on meow.social, which is one of the larger furry Instances.
I think having a furry twitter is a GREAT IDEA, because most of it is 95% furry, but 5% of it is going to be haters, so don't get to worried because the furry community is all about friendship which includes having each others back, so, bad luck for the aggressive hater (^w^), anyways, AWSOME VIDEO ASH!!

I missed Anthro Northwest because I couldn't get the time off work. I'm totally new to the whole thing.
I don't know if this is neccesarily a crazy story, but one of my roommates opened the hotel door to a knock and a stranger wandered in in fursuit. None of us knew who this person was, but we were all a lil' drunk so we all kinda just danced the night away with this stranger.
I have a couple of weird/crazy/horror stories from Furry conventions I've been to. Probably the one that stands out the most to me was at Furfight: I'd been to it a few times since I lived in the general area (New England) and so it was the default con to go to, since I didn't really enjoy the overcrowded insanity that was Anthrocon. FF was nice, mostly laid back, the hotel was nice mostly. Except this year. I mean, up to this point the hotel was good. Accommodating. Big enough. Staff was either friendly or at least non-confrontational. It was like some switch was flipped that year. Just about everything that the hotel was involved with just wasn't done right. The fursuit lounge was never stocked with water, rooms weren't ready, desk staff were apparently rude to lots of the attendees; it was just a shit show from the beginning. Now, that's bad, sure. But it got worse. Saturday rolls around. All the fuzzies are a little irritable because Friday went completely sideways, but hey, it's a con and we're furries! Can't bring us down too much, right? Wrong. Very. Wrong. The thing I first notice is...suddenly my roommates are just gone. Like, gone, gone. No trace of them. Extra unusual because we were planning on hitting up the same panels and generally hang out. But no trace of them, no answer on the phone, nothing. Apparently I wasn't alone in this, because a other people I knew were missing too. Or not wanting to leave their rooms I was paranoid that, for some reason, I had run off friends. Nope. Turned out that a not insignificant number of people had gotten food poisoning. From the hotel's restaurant (that little tidbit took a day or so to realize). One of my roommates had gone to the ER because it was so bad. The other, who had just come back from the ER, ended up with a return trip to the hospital because something they had eaten that day...from the hotel restaurant...caused a severe allergic reaction and I had to rush them to the ER. Where I met my other roommate who was still waiting to be seen. By the end of the weekend the con-chair was so pissed that it was decided that we'd be at a different hotel the next year.

I remember one year at BLFC I was physically assaulted in fursuit, like, full on ROUND HOUSE KICKED in the spine.
The con and security dealt with it WONDERFULLY
Though I had to go to physical therapy for a while because my lower spine was dislocated/thrown out

There are lots of normies who like furries. Anthrocon is a good example. The people of Pittsburgh are so welcoming to the furry community. Of course it helps that we dump millions of $ into the local economy...I’d love to see that reaction to DenFur but the convention is on the outskirts of town and ignored by the media.
My first time suiting and my first time going to a con, I went to ACFI 2019 in a digigrade suit, I am an adult but I am VERY short and can pass as a child with my voice (though I mostly don't talk in suit) I was sitting at a table with others and a man (40-50's probably) went to motion for a high five, I said sure. Suddenly though he asks for a hug, I had given a few so I complied and hugged him, then that's when it happened.
He didn't let go.
He said "Squeeeeee" (the actual word and not the noise) and I laughed and tried to pull away but he HELD me there and said "You have to say squeeeee".
I did and he let me go and then proceeded to Scratch my suits nose and then lay his hand uncomfortably close to my hips to which I then diverted that buy lifting his hand with my paw.
My friend and I left the area FAST.
(ACFI was a good con though and I will be going next year)

Kansas city comic con sometimes has furries, I seen a group in a congo line during kccc 2017. I plan to go to kccc 2020 (hopefully) with my partial fursuit finished.
Naka-kon had a fur meet that had about 35 people in suit. We kinda took over that grass courtyard area.
But I was actually talking about an actual, fulfledged fur con. Need to dig sniff around a bit, but October I think is the target window.
Ash Eagle, holy crap - MFF 2014 was my first furry con, period. I was just there for the one day. I was in the ballroom when it went down, and by that point it was the end of a game of telephone. We heard "Oh, there was a gas leak in one of the rooms." Didn't even set off the alarms down there. We just all milled out and stared at the cops and EMTs and they stared at us, and no one knew who was safe. I noped the fuck out of there, and walked to the Blue Line stop and slept the night at a friend's dorm. I was too wiped to go all the way back to my own dorm, and at that point I wasn't out to my parents. I'd told them I was at a "convention," that's it, so would probably not visit to do laundry that week.
The following Sunday, every December our Swedish family friends hold a carol-singing party. (Even if you're not a Christian anymore, why turn down pepparkakor and glögg?) And I saw my dad there. And he was like "You went to a convention last weekend, right?"
"Right."
"Comic convention?"
"No."
"[Major] convention?"
"No."
"Because I saw a convention on the news for a terrorist gas attack."
"...yeah, it was that one."
*dead silence*
"...I guess I should have guessed a long time ago. At least you're not dead."

On the bus from Chicago to Toronto for FE, years later, I recounted that story to my greyhound seatmate, and they said they knew the guy who they're fairly certain did the attack. And gave me evidence. And I'm convinced. But identities are secret. (He's a lifeguard, so that solves one part of the mystery.) So yeah. It's a weirdly big part of my life. I want to start collecting people's stories of the event.

at anime con i had my ears and tail and was showing a lady form a booth a and friend on my tail has sqeaker on it i becan to leave when lady came from behind her booth and yanked my tail hard and proeced to play with sqeaker in my tail hold the tail and follow me around delaers den for 15 minturs neeedles i took my tail out her hand and tell some con staff about her she was not welcome back

I got one for you. In the mid 90s, I was attending a fantasy/gaming con in Atlanta. Vernon Wells, the guy who played Welz in the Road Warrior popped up in front of my table, and leafed through my artwork, then said "So you like drawing naked animal women?", I shrugged, and said "It's a living.", he chuckles and wandered on.
At my first EuroFurence me and my Roommate had some problems with our room. The window was slightly crooked and wouldn't budge so we couldn't let air in the room, next the AC was dirty, like really really dirty(my roomie has asthma) and at last the TV wasn't working. We ended up showing up at the reception like six times! Always having the same douche either rolling his eyes at us or saying they will do something about it. After the fith time they send someone with us for cleaning the AC and fixing the window. The TV still didn't worked. We showed up the sixth time again the same douche. We explained politely that the TV still didn't worked and then he said "Just go into some one others room and watch TV there!" Please keep in mind that the hotel is a 4 star hotel and I'm not on the picky side, but I get angry if someone just thinks he can get away with simply not doing his job. I went to the con ops, snatched a security guy and went with him to the desk. After that they finally send not one, but TWO house techs. They apologized to us for their colleague and tied their best. The TV still didn't worked at the end, but to be honest after the third time asking for help with the TV I was just down for the principle. Yeah this may sound pitty I know, but I can't help it. I just get mad if someone just don't want to do his job.
At the end of the con we were told by the security guy,that we weren't the only one complaining about this dude being rude and unhelpful towards other furries. The next year I couldn't see this dude anywhere.

This year I decided to attend Edmonton expo 2019. I brought my floofy suit and put my head on as soon as I stepped out of the car. It was a really good day to suit nonetheless which was pretty dope because of the breeze that came my way. Entering the expo space, I seen another fursuiter and decided to greet them with something in between blowing a kiss and waving as I wagged my tail. Someone decided to yell out, “Ew furries, kill it .” Even thougj no one really asked what he thout about furries?? And my heart rate began beaTING SIS. I thankfully had my lovely dwaggy handler to make sure nothing happened. I ended up meeting with a bunch of fursuiters and we just stopped caring about what people said or thought, But if someone touched my suit Id square up.

Once I took my suit head off briefly at an anime con and some guy came up when he saw my face and said “mid life crisis much?” A valid statement, to be honest. At the same con I waved at a female cosplayer (not a furry) who promptly hid behind a pole and gave me a look like she wanted to actually kill me. Also I wasn’t allowed in the con space’s restaurant because I had a big bag (with my suit in it) and I had nowhere to keep it since I wasn’t staying at the hotel, so the “friends” I went with said they’d go in and bring food out to me. Then they left the con (through a secret exit inside the restaurant) and drove to a Denny’s a few blocks away, without telling me and would not answer their phones. I sat outside the restaurant for an hour waiting, since I thought they were still in there. And even after all that they didn’t even bring me anything. Moral of the story, don’t wear a fursuit to an anime con.

I went from not being a furry but love Furries to becoming a secret furry and enjoying it
My worst one was at my first con (MFF 2012). I had a problem checking into my room so I had a couple local friends I knew from my hometown room with me to help me out, little did I know it would turn south in a heartbeat. I get back to my room late Saturday night after the rave and it sounded like my roomies were fighting. Lots of yelling, banging around...and as soon as I walked into my room, there was one of my roomies standing by the bathroom. One glance into the room, there was vomit on the floor, booze bottles everywhere, take-out food containers turned over all over the place...
Turn the corner and there's my other 2 room mates on the floor, sick as hell. Turned out they both drank a whole large bottle of vodka each and got alcohol poisoning. Turns out they had been fighting while I was out and all that ruffhousing made them sicker...And keep in mind, this all took place in a single bedroom way up on the top floor.
Thankfully there is a good end to this story, my friend Joseph Racoon found me wandering the main floor by myself at almost 4 AM and he called me over, I told him what was happening and he took me up to his room and let me sleep on his floor. I'm so grateful to some furries around this fandom at least.
Also I do remember the MFF 2014 chlorine incident....I almost ended up in one of the ambulances (and I was coughing up black gunky stuff after I got home from the con). Thankfully I got to go to the Hilton across the way to say safe.

The film festival story unfortunately reminded me of a similar personal experience: I was in college and on my way to a Halloween party. I step out of my dorm onto the streets of NYC, across the street from the Gramercy theater where some people are standing in line for a concert. One guy flat-out sprints across the street to me and, without asking, just starts taking pictures with me, and i just go along with it, not assuming anything. Then he starts HUMPING MY LEG and runs away before I even realize what's going on, and since I had zero peripheral vision, I couldn't see where he went.
The worst part is this WASN'T the first time I'd been sexually harassed in my fursuit (see my other comment).
Went to Fur Reality this year as my first furcon! One horror story, when my mom was picking me and my brother up Halloween night, her foot slip and there goes car wheel onto mainly my left big toe.. It hurt and my toe felt numb the rest of the night.. Next morning, no pain or numbness and I visit my schools nurse's office to have a nurse look over my foot and it is determined that there is no lasting damage and I enjoyed the convention so much without problems!

Ash Coyote It did suck but overall, I tried to stay calm as I suffered.. But by the time I got to Fur Reality con space the Friday, I was walking around without any pain! During the convention, I got lots of goodies, attended the art jam, musical furs meet & greet, Science, Pseudoscience, and Outright Crap, and Foxes and Peppers all ages show, and had an incredible experience!
My friend told me about the volleyball interactions the first time the shared space happened (I had gone in 2010 before that time). I explained to some Russian tourists who had broken English what was going on in the hotel. To which I said, "Cartoons come to life." I've seen Russian/Eastern European cartoons they have talking animals too. This past year in 2020 it seemed the volleyball groups have been prepped in advance, were taking pictures, and enjoying themselves. I had an "I'm old." moment with some parents riding down the elevator. It was all good though.
The only wild con experience I have was at Furnal Equinox 2017. I was going to Pepper Coyote's 18+ show in the evening, so I went down to the con space in the elevator to see the show. Unbeknownst to me, my father (who also went to the con with me) was searching all over for me, so when the show ended, I went back down and my dad comes out after about five minutes of waiting. He was like "I was looking ALL OVER for you!!!" and he had one of the con staff with him (BT-Armistice). We laughed about it for a while. However, the rest of the con was me suffering from bouts of intense anxiety about the internet's perception of furries at the time and articles of crimes done by terrible people who happened to be in the fandom vs. what I was seeing IRL. I had to take a break from the fandom for a while after that, but I'm going BACK to FE in 2020! Hope to see you, Ash, either there or at any American cons I go to in the future!
My first con was four years ago. There were so many fursuiters who I gave compliments to, as well as other cosplayers.
I've never been to a con, since I just discovered this fandom last year. I already have 4 fursonas though lol

Oh I once went through the furry backrooms at a small convention in my city, FurSquared.
Essentially some of the rooms are downstairs in this basement area and there isn’t an elevator, but a lot of stairs. My handler and I both have disabilities where stairs can be hard for us. So essentially we asked con staff downstairs about an elevator. They had one through the kitchen and all of these other dark rooms, it was a warehouse-like room with all of these stored decorations for Christmas and Halloween and stuff, 10/10 would do again.
This was quite delightful to watch ^w^

Fur con is always next to a volly ball tournament. The orgy was sandwitched between several angry families last year.
My second Anthrocon, 2012, my friend/handler and i were coming back to our hotel after midnight. We walked by the bar, where two very, VERY drunk women were hanging out with their sober male friend and immediately begged to take photos with me. Being drunk, there was a lot of shoving, tripping, bearing their weight down on me etc... and then in the middle of it all, one of them GRABED MY ASS. My handler (shout out to my buddy Seren) immediately got them off of me and the women's friend apologized profusely. The women apologized as well, but I'm pretty sure they were too drunk to know what was going on, let alone what they were apologizing for.
If that wasn't bad enough, I called my then-girlfriend the next day to tell her about it and her completely sincere response was "Well, look at what you were wearing!" (it should come as no surprise that she straight-up sexually assaulted me herself a few years later, which is why we broke up). Like I said in my other comment, that's unfortunately not the only time I was sexually harassed in my fursuit.

So far, the only furry con that I went to was MCFC 2018 and it was a blast for my first con. I didn't have my tail at the time nor did I have any kind of suit to wear, but that didn't stop me from having a great time. I have my tail now and haven't had much chance to really wear it, but when I do, it feels like it's a part of me that I never want to let go of. Dunno if that's weird or if it's normal, but I'm certainly not complaining.

I went to further confusion 2020, it was my first convention!!! I may a lot of my idols and it was a amazing experience! Their were the volleyball people there. Ugh. There was this huge group that came up to me and said “oh I love your suit!!” And I got lots of love, I asked them if they’d be back next year and they said yes, and I said me too! So now I’m fursuit friends with people so yeh. Next year if we can go we will because it’s a hour drive from my place. I’m making a full suit so I think they’ll like that

The fursuit lounge (headless lounge) is upstairs. Same floor as the competitions. There’s a bit of a hallway and the back is tented off. There’s a little opening and usually you’d find a security man just chillin there. Right?
Well. Of the times that year we’d see the volley ball girls coming into the fursuit lounge (which is on our side of the hall, which has concluded that they SNUCK past security up there) they were TAKING PICTURES of fursuiters in the lounge. Of course dressed in full suit and such.
Which bothered a LOT of furries who are trying to rest. Even I was bothered. And I’ve seen other furries tell them to please leave and that even telling them there was a sign outside to not take pictures in the fursuit lounge.
It kept going and eventually we just called security and they were outta our hair.
This sounds wild omg🤣 I’m hoping to go to my first con soon,so I’m pretty excited!

17:35 She may have gotten fired because of her actions or she was doing far worse things than you knew and her boss found that out. So instead of keeping her around and having her possibly cause the hotel to loose more money by her bad behavior (she may have gotten other reports before the con or was stealing from people even before the con) they just fired her. Honestly if she had enough reports and things stacked against her and they proved to be right, I would've fired her too.
Man that's crazy.. out of my experience in the 21 years of attending cons (mainly Comic Con), I only had a drafting pen stolen from my pocket in sometime around 2008. I'm still pissed about it xD

If this is your first time buying a suit I wouldn't recommend getting a commission from lemonbrat. Their prices are incredibly high and their customer service isn't great. I would recommend commissioning a smaller maker!!

Not a furry con or a fursuiting story but a horrible furry experience.
I remember when my niece allowed me to wear my wolf tail and ears somewhere with her. It was a skating rink. I had a tail I made and Pawstar ears to match it. Someone pulled my tail and I just turned around look so upset about it. I continued to go on like nothing happened.
They could've broke my handmade tail I spent 2 days on with barely any sleep to make but I'm glad they didn't.
My oldest brother and his wife was there with us and someone ended up throwing a plastic water bottle at my brother's wife.
There was this person who howled like a wolf quietly as I passed by them too..
I was upset about it but ignored it the whole time.
It was this one group of friends and they were later kicked out and temporarily banned for a month.
They were being very rude to me and my family just because I wore a black wolf tail and wolf ears to a skating rink.
They didn't even know what a furry was and probably never saw something like this before.

I’ve heard of the gas attack at mff 2014 I just didn’t know what time it happened, so it happened in the early morning hours, I went out to explore the con but was told I couldn’t get a pass cause it was to late to sell them
I have a con story, it wasn't really that bad but it could have been worse.
It was my first full blown furry convention I went with a friend to Anthrocon 2019 for the first time and the first day we were there everything seemed to be going just fine. We got set up in our hotel and it was time to head out to the con for the first time and I wanted to wear my 3/4 suit that I made of my hyena character. I didn't really think to bring like 20 waters so I just went with 1 (BIG MISTAKE) It was like 90 degrees Fahrenheit and 80% humidity on that day so it was supppper deadly hot and I was wearing a suit during this. Our hotel was pretty close to a shuttle stop that takes people to the convention so we got there no problem, but after waiting in line for like 10 minutes to get our tags I forgot my ID so we had to go back to the hotel. I was already feeling like death from the walk there. Waiting for the bus I started feeling a little sick, we got on and off the bus and I was still ok. Once we got off the hotel was only about a 5 minute walk. Half way of walking to the hotel I got dizzy and lightheaded and nauseous. I ended up leaning over a railing with my head off just trying to keep myself from throwing up. we FINALLY got back to the hotel after what seemed like an hour to me and I hobbled straight to the bathroom and took my suit off and INSTANTLY felt 101% better, I was so relieved. I didn't let that get me down though, the rest of the con I went without a suit, I bought me and my friend a kigu and we went around in that cause a kigu I could handle. I even met some pupufurs like Raze and Telephone. Moral of the story Bring water, take breaks, drink water.
I believe I was getting heat stroke and it could've been a lot worse, I felt like I was about to black out.
AAH, I can't wait until I'm old enough to order a fur suit. I love yours!

One of our "staff" for Anime NebrasKon 2019 kept inappropriately hitting on is other staff and went from Health and Wellness to Gen staff (lowest tier after volunteer level), then proceeded to not only not work their hours they agreed to, but continued to give medical advice, even though he was not allowed to.
The year before (same con) I had 3 sensory overload induced panic attacks, including one at our "Dead Dog party" (an end-of-con party for staff and guests [not attendees]) that lasted at least 2 hours...
This feels like one of those documentaries about murders and stuff but with upbeat music
I swear nothing strange ever happens to me. Closest I've seen is a man at my local bus plaza yelling at an old man who just got out of the restroom saying he was going to fight him for what he supposedly said. Pretty sure that guy was drugged up

So I’ve been to FC a few times, and like you said there is also a volleyball tournament going on. We’d be walking the convention center and we’d get snickers and weird looks from parents and the players. Most of the time they just wanted pictures, but after I learned that some friends I lost touch with also go to the volleyball tournament! I was lucky enough not to run into them (that would have been awkward) XD
I don't have a crazy story from a convention, but a friend of mine does. He had the misfortune of being in the same room as Chris-chan. Said you could smell them before you even saw them, and this was back in I think 2017.
On the Twitter alternatives, there is a platform which partially solves the problem: Mastodon, and its various Instances (servers), are community-run and -moderated; they don't thrive off drama, because of the lack of ads and the increased content warning; and there are specific Instances for furries, which partially link to the rest of Mastodon through the Fediverse. Personally I've created an account on meow.social, which is one of the larger furry Instances.
I think having a furry twitter is a GREAT IDEA, because most of it is 95% furry, but 5% of it is going to be haters, so don't get to worried because the furry community is all about friendship which includes having each others back, so, bad luck for the aggressive hater (^w^), anyways, AWSOME VIDEO ASH!!

You are so friggen cute!!!! I haven't been to a con yet. Just a couple of smaller events called When Furballs Strike in Kenmore Washington. #38 was my very first in my new suit then I went to #39. I missed Anthro Northwest because I couldn't get the time off work. I'm totally new to the whole thing.
I don't know if this is neccesarily a crazy story, but one of my roommates opened the hotel door to a knock and a stranger wandered in in fursuit. None of us knew who this person was, but we were all a lil' drunk so we all kinda just danced the night away with this stranger.
I have a couple of weird/crazy/horror stories from Furry conventions I've been to.
Probably the one that stands out the most to me was at Furfight:
I'd been to it a few times since I lived in the general area (New England) and so it was the default con to go to, since I didn't really enjoy the overcrowded insanity that was Anthrocon. FF was nice, mostly laid back, the hotel was nice mostly.
Except this year.
I mean, up to this point the hotel was good. Accommodating. Big enough. Staff was either friendly or at least non-confrontational.
It was like some switch was flipped that year. Just about everything that the hotel was involved with just wasn't done right.
The fursuit lounge was never stocked with water, rooms weren't ready, desk staff were apparently rude to lots of the attendees; it was just a shit show from the beginning.
Now, that's bad, sure. But it got worse. Saturday rolls around. All the fuzzies are a little irritable because Friday went completely sideways, but hey, it's a con and we're furries! Can't bring us down too much, right?
Wrong.
Very. Wrong.
The thing I first notice is...suddenly my roommates are just gone. Like, gone, gone. No trace of them. Extra unusual because we were planning on hitting up the same panels and generally hang out. But no trace of them, no answer on the phone, nothing.
Apparently I wasn't alone in this, because a other people I knew were missing too. Or not wanting to leave their rooms
I was paranoid that, for some reason, I had run off friends.
Nope. Turned out that a not insignificant number of people had gotten food poisoning.
From the hotel's restaurant (that little tidbit took a day or so to realize).
One of my roommates had gone to the ER because it was so bad. The other, who had just come back from the ER, ended up with a return trip to the hospital because something they had eaten that day...from the hotel restaurant...caused a severe allergic reaction and I had to rush them to the ER. Where I met my other roommate who was still waiting to be seen.
By the end of the weekend the con-chair was so pissed that it was decided that we'd be at a different hotel the next year.
