It does seem like bad publicity can bring ridicule to the fandom, but it can also bring some of the more open-minded people to seek out and possibly join the fandom. I joined because I heard about the fandom through friends. I only seemed to hear people hate the fandom, so I decided to research furries and see if they deserved the hate they got. I saw that the fandom was truly an amazing place, and I decided to join. I'm really happy with my experience so far, and I hope there are others out there like me who have joined the fandom or might consider it.
15:32. That episode of Lucifer was awkward as watching Lucifer is my mother and I’s thing and she is very anti fur. But they handled the fandom really well. I was afraid it was going to be CSI 2 electric boogaloo
I sadly for being a furry have been called everything from every swear word in the book to being called a pedophile, sadly I don't think the hate will ever stop, honestly I think we just have to try and grow a thick skin.
Society just wants us to follow the norm and to be “normal” when anyone does anything different they are called out for it and are called “odd” or “weird”
I like being weird because who wants to be normal, sounds boring. I bet allot of furries can agree, I also agree that normal people say normal is good.
Honestly if it weren't for this Fandom I would have never met my boyfriend and would probably also still be struggling with depression. I've come a long way since I joined, and it's because of those two reasons I wanna stay. Well. That and I made a ton of new friends that helped me out.
15:26 I got that question asked when I bought the Crystal fire fursuit head up to the Manchester furmeet. It was a random gay dude because it is a gay bar. He asked me if I ever blanked in the head. Now I can see why. The head still had glue gun bits that I forgot to take off. So I said sorry, they are just glue gun bits.
Awesome vid. I've been a furry since the 90s too after stumbling upon the fandom by accident. It really seemed like a US focused thing to me back then though, which when combined with both my UK living and my social awkwardness kinda left me not being overly active. Until recent years at least.
Watching furry haters argue is one of my favourite pastimes, It's just someone who has no fucking clue what they're on about arguing with someone who knows exactly what they're talking about, a guaranteed beauty
I think it’s stupid that some people assume furries and otherkin/therians are the same thing ._.) these groups may seem similar but they’re waaaay different on so many levels
I can certainly empathize with Chip about the sense of isolation that furries felt before the internet. It must have been the late '80s/early '90s when I first heard about the fandom, in the column "News of the Weird" (NotW is still around; but furries have long since vanished from its articles, as being "no longer weird"). I thought I was the only person in the world with my obsession (I'm particularly fond of centaurs; but other anthro content is fine with me): it wasn't really until I went online in the 2000s that I really discovered the community. In the past couple of years, I finally developed an alternate fursona (unicorn), so that I could go to cons in suit. 7@=e
Ive been a furry since i was a kid in the 80's, lol. No internet back then, but i always chose an animal to be instead of like, She-ra when playing with friends. I remember being a furry in the 90's and for me it was all artists online and there was waaay more adult themed art, which made it hard for people like me to find more...vanilla art. i didnt know anyone who was into furries or even anime, i was pretty alone and had no one to talk to about these interests. I just took it as another reason i was weird and grew up feeling like a total outcast. Lana DelRay seems like one of those bandwagon people-one person says furries are gross because it seems like the cool thing to do and then suddenly it's something u say to look cool, and isnt based on any knowledge. Speaks to her maturity-or lack thereof, honestly.
I always said this there's no such thing as normal I don't see the furry fandom being any different than being a fan of sports or sci-fi or even anime so I don't understand why the furry fandom is getting f***** when I always said this there's no such thing as normal I don't see the furry fandom being any different than being a fan of sports or sci-fi or even anime so I don't understand why the furry fandom is getting I hate when there are worse things than getting upset over people who decide to be animals cute ones that I don't think a lot of people judge by the book and not looking into it Ragnar matter what we say there were always will be people thinking we just a bunch of freaks like to think that just enjoy what you do and then ignore the haters does concentrate on the positives
A lot of it just comes from a misunderstanding of what we are based on all the bad press we got over the years. Thankfully our community is growing and with that so is the understanding of what we really are.
If we do more good things the public and alter the media will see as we're not as bad as they think we are I think it all started with CSI especially with that episode
I really don't mind that Lana Del Rey said that we are gross, she doesn't know what she's talking about; her comments are mere ignorance. The only people who participate actively in the fandom know what is the real side of this beautiful community
I have seen this kind of thing happening everywhere in my high school everyone has also been given the guy who wears our mascot hate because of what they know about the fandom
I've been a furry for 8 months, I'm honestly surprised I haven't been ostracized for being one considering how many gamers appear to hate us still.. Only gotten one incident of hate from someone specifically hating me for being furry in all that time.. One of the best parts of the fandom is its positive similarities to Heavy Metal scene and other subcultures
I remember being a furry in 2012 when you could get attacked for just hanging out on you're own profile this is actually a pretty great time to be furry
How many of us remember the "Tit-Bits" article ('91, as I recall)? That was one of the earliest mainstream references - it wasn't entirely positive, but it was very accurate in comparision with the rest of the 90's material.
Damn... I remember being furry in the 90s. Officially learned what it was, via zine culture. And conventions. I was a furry and went through high school. It wasn't so bad, I had friends. Non-furs, even. What a time to be alive. And all the negative press. I once wrote a critical essay for a college course examining the misapprehension of the Vanity Fair article as an insider.
My mom saw the csi episode and claims she saw this show called "My vacation from Hell" where a family with young children booked a hotel where there was a furry convention going on at the same time and they were yiffing in the lobby. I looked it up and not show apparently does not exist. I tried to tell her even if it did with the name like my vacation from hell they are purposely going to look for stories of bad things. she also wouldn't believe me about the CSI episode purposely being written to make all furries look bad. She's extremely conservative and was like "it's a gateway to being gay!" Uh, no mother. Gay is something you're born with. Furries are no different than people who dress up for Star Treck conventions. She was a Star Treck fan and tried to say that dressing up for that was wrong too. She has memory problems due to a childhood head injury and claims not to remember very hurtful things she said.
I honestly don’t understand way people hate furries. We’re just wearing a costume and that’s enough to get hate? Yes the fandom had ʏI𝑓𝙛 (the sexual side) but every fandom has something like that. The old furry war was you know still bad but now it’s really disgusting, the haters don’t know what they are saying .
All part of the war against modern culture. Brought to us by people who want the world to go back to the 1960's because living in advanced times is just too offensive.
I want to be a furry, but my parent wont waste money on buying s fursuit. I just like designing things, snd I LOVE ANIMALS, so, designing a fursuit and wearing it and pretending to be an animal sounds pretty cool.
You don't have to have a fursuit to be a furry, all you need is a fursona But if you REALLY want one I would recommend painting a dino mask as sold at stores or online^^
this has been said by other people here but yeah you don't need one to be a furry, and by the look of your pfp you already have a fursona so good for you :)
@@artilleryfire6576 yeah but even just liking some anime is considered being a weeb so its unfortunately a broad term you risk offending an innocent party that doesn't even give a shit about things a soggy basement dwelling weeb would, so no, not all
I wouldn’t usually drop my opinion in the comment of a video, and am only saying something because the video encouraged it. In my OWN opinion, to have different interests and hobbies from someone else is great, as long as it isn’t harmful. Dressing up as a colorful cartoon character doesn’t hurt anyone, and doesn’t deserve to be discriminated against. Yet, if someone makes the choice to voice their own opinion to say “ew gross” they are also free to their own opinion as long as they’re not encouraging harm. If they’re inherently malignant, and encourage others to harm the community in the name of their harmless interest, that’s when it becomes an issue. I’d also like to add onto the end here; it’s okay to be “normal”. There shouldn’t be a pressure on people to “change themself to be ‘unique’”. Even if a ‘ normal’ person is forced to change to be more ‘unique’ it’s still inherently discrimination. At the end of the day, do what you love. As long as it motivates you to do good things, you can have any hobby under the sun.
2:44 Yeah. Being the only one furry here in the city, it just feels like I'm the only weirdo here. Also, most of my friends quickly assume I'm an animal pervert, because I am a furry. It's really silly.
I accidentaly said on CS GO ranked match with my bro today, that I was watching furry stuff as a answer why I didnt use a mic to my bro and nobody started a outrage about furry = bad. Either they didnt care or never heard of a furry, that greatly felt like a colosal close call. Oh and we lost the match. Maybe I need to chill with B
Yeah that’s the fandom, We’re very inclusive until you have a different view or opinion then in that case we don’t want you. Just look how people reacted to Majira going on the H3H3 podcast.
9:38 “The Star Trek thing; you don’t make your own character, you just like some of the characters on the show, whereas Furry is way more personal” Me, with 14 Star Trek OCs alongside 6 furry ocs: 🤔 Eeh?? What? Making ocs for canon worlds and series can be just as personal as Furry (“non fandom” ocs)💕 But I guess I can see if they mean that the fandom itself isn’t all ocs, which they don’t have to be to be personal and fun, or inclusive or welcoming. I hope all fandoms can be seen as something positive, and being a part of such a diverse bunch of fandoms, I have to say that each one really plays up their own positivity, even when not so great things happen behind the scenes. I would be lying if I said I didn’t hide my other fandom interests from each particular group!
Sometimes while playing CSGO (which has a good Community anyways... *NOT*) and I Love to getnthe basic insults like "Furfag" because then I reply with "OK" or something similar and then they'll mostly get triggert while I laugth my ass off xD
15:11 I honestly don’t like the misconceptions a lot of people have about furries. I had some customers at work talk about furries being “weird perverts” and I didn’t know how to correct them, especially when they said that after a coworker talked about a FIFTEEN YEAR OLD that had come in earlier with some friends all in full fursuit. (On the positive side, seeing the fursuits really brightened my day, the designs were super cute, and I was worried they’d get ruined cuz my work can get pretty chaotic, especially with all the little kids running around.)

Thanks for the video Ash you managed to educate me further on the furries. Also it was cool for you to team up with Rage Hound. Love 💗 you Ash keep up the good work
I am so glad I could help
one time i tried to correct someone on furies but they wouldn't have it, their a but!
Clearly
Life is to short so we do something we love and the media is angry about that!? If I have to I will fix this here and now
I'm half-Furry because my furry heart is connected to my human and brony heart.
Thanks for the video.💯😎
you're super welcome!
I see you everywhere- I’m sorry for what i said
It does seem like bad publicity can bring ridicule to the fandom, but it can also bring some of the more open-minded people to seek out and possibly join the fandom.
I'm a gamer and THANK YOU for being a furry at least saying sonicfox's name. Idk why i was recommended this...plus, i don't hate furries.
15:32. That episode of Lucifer was awkward as watching Lucifer is my mother and I’s thing and she is very anti fur. But they handled the fandom really well. I was afraid it was going to be CSI 2 electric boogaloo
As a werewolf fan, I also agree with Daniel Radcliffe
13:40 Furries literally thanking Satan for not hating on them is such a conflicting mood
Lana DelRay wishes she was a gemini the same way she wishes she was latina
If anyone tries to act like a "latino" then they are not welcome by other latinos in here
omg I saw (w/ Ragehound) and I was like AAAAAHHHH two adorable lady furs with adorable voices
honestly i love the long videos i just play it in the background while i edit
I sadly for being a furry have been called everything from every swear word in the book to being called a pedophile, sadly I don't think the hate will ever stop, honestly I think we just have to try and grow a thick skin.
It's not as bad as it used to be at least
@@arrythestarry That is very true.
Your suit is soooo well made, I looks like you are an actual anthropomorphic character
Society just wants us to follow the norm and to be “normal” when anyone does anything different they are called out for it and are called “odd” or “weird”
I like being weird because who wants to be normal, sounds boring. I bet allot of furries can agree, I also agree that normal people say normal is good.
I enjoy watching your video, Ash, keep up the good work.
Awrf thank you!
You're welcome, Ash. :)
Great video as always, it was so awesome you invited Ragehound too, she is such a sweetie!!
Being a furry is fun so that's why I do what I do
Awesome vid.
Them: you don't create your own star trek character me with my star trek fursona: angry floof noises
I just subscribed to rage hound and I love it
I think it’s stupid that some people assume furries and otherkin/therians are the same thing ._.) these groups may seem similar but they’re waaaay different on so many levels
True I’m a Brony and furry xD we still live we just sitting and waiting for the new mlp gen
Furries rule!
How many of us remember the "Tit-Bits" article ('91, as I recall)? That was one of the earliest mainstream references - it wasn't entirely positive, but it was very accurate in comparision with the rest of the 90's material.
Btw I love your voice, is so satisfying aaaaaaa
Thank you so much! I have been working on it a lot lately

I've managed to change a few people's minds on furries before.
Good on ya, mah dude. That is, if you changed their minds in a good way.
@Deadfish King it's been a religion. XD
It was pretty funny when cupcake was praising the devil (Lucifer) at the end of the video. When the devil does something good😂
Furries deserve more respect, and people need to stop just assuming that furries are bad for no apparent reason.
I appreciate the effort and quality of these videos! Keep it up :)
✨🥲I’m fluffy and contagious be aware of me ✨🥲
All part of the war against modern culture. Brought to us by people who want the world to go back to the 1960's because living in advanced times is just too offensive.
Holy shit the animation intro was longer than radiation poisoning side effects
I want to be a furry, but my parent wont waste money on buying s fursuit. I just like designing things, snd I LOVE ANIMALS, so, designing a fursuit and wearing it and pretending to be an animal sounds pretty cool.
Just because you dont have a fursuit doesn't mean you cant be a furry
You don't have to have a fursuit to be a furry, all you need is a fursona
But if you REALLY want one I would recommend painting a dino mask as sold at stores or online^^
this has been said by other people here but yeah you don't need one to be a furry, and by the look of your pfp you already have a fursona so good for you :)
As a Lana stan and a furry, her comment had me 🫠
Just subscribed to your channel. 🙂✨
OMG thank you!!!!!
You're welcome! 🙂
Also a furry Pinball Arcade Repairman here. ;)
omg thats super rad!
I wanna be an animatronic fixer/maker like William Afton
for my birthday im going to fursuit at my local parks
It's not only furries also gamers, weebs and artists have this problem
Everyone that is hated for their hobbies need to rise up and band together and kick the media in the face with facts
Also metalheads and scientists(kind of)
tbh gamers and weebs, mostly weebs, have a mass majority that make the rest just look horrible, yknow, those overweight basement dwelling nice guys™
@@TheSeerSacrifice weebs are bad, anything that ends with "boo" is actually bad

Yeah.
Maybe I need to chill with B
you got lucky there my friend.. CSGO is famously toxic (at least from what I know only having played it a few times)
@@SD-ok3vv ever heard of league of legends
I do feel that when it comes to politics, Furries aren’t accepting of one another, but this fandom is pretty accepting for the most part besides that!
Yeah that’s the fandom, We’re very inclusive until you have a different view or opinion then in that case we don’t want you. Just look how people reacted to Majira going on the H3H3 podcast.
It seems it is a thing not specifically tied to furries but still something to be very aware of
The little OH! MAH! GOD! So cute! >:3
9:38 “The Star Trek thing; you don’t make your own character, you just like some of the characters on the show, whereas Furry is way more personal”
Me, with 14 Star Trek OCs alongside 6 furry ocs: 🤔 Eeh??
God I am obsessed with how dreamy the eyes are
I'm From Kentucky But I'm Moving To Utah
Sometimes while playing CSGO (which has a good Community anyways... *NOT*) and I Love to getnthe basic insults like "Furfag" because then I reply with "OK" or something similar and then they'll mostly get triggert while I laugth my ass off xD
12:49 is the Milo being spoken of that Milo Y (a last name I can neither spell nor pronounce)?
13:19 it is. Yeah I don’t like him either tbh
Legit furries and webs are so nice
