  • I got given this the other day, and despite us seeing a fair few DC50's on this channel before, this one is MINE! Let's see how much of a lucky boy I am and see what's wrong with this micro dyson.
Fancy donating to the channel? I’m always in need of parts for projects, so have a look at my Amazon wishlist, and let me know who you are in the note so I can read it out on camera! - www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/...

When you clean a vacuum cleaner, you become the vacuum cleaner! 👍 Love your videos, have helped me loads in cleaning mine! It's clear you have an insane passion and knowledge about them.

Just picked up a dc50 this morning - not 100 percent sure on what to make of it yet - like its convenient size but the brushroll leaves a lot to be desired - the black brushes are more balled than my head!
Aleays enjoy a good repair and or refurb Sam!

Great video Sam. I'm really unfamiliar with these machines. Looking forward to the follow up videos.

Anyway to e mail a very boring question from the United States?
I have a dc50 and the round side cover (not the one that covers the filter) the other side that has a tiny hole in it. My girlfriend said it fell off and for whatever reason…I can’t get it to stay in place.
    And thanks for listening!!
Hope life in the pond is great!!!

Weird, just got a trashed one of these this week. Had all the issues yours didn't. It was clogged with fur, wouldn't power on, had the broken clip, and had a bald brushroll.
Turns out it had sat in storage and the motor brushes rusted just enough to make them lose mobility. I reseated them and it works great now, as well as a DC50 can, at least.

Are you going to film the process Samuel ? .... I have one of them but haven't got to it yet.

Not on this one as it was the first I've ever taken apart! The switch housing is by far the worst part, the rest of the machine is fairly straight forward though! I had to follow a how to video to get rhe switch housing back together and its a RIGHT SOD 😂

Have you ever thought of using a carpet shampooer on that carpet? I love my Bissell and wonder what you think of them. There is something very primitive and satisfying about looking at all the extracted dirty water sloshing about in the container.

Yea I've used my Vax dual v on it - th-cam.com/video/ChRfljem8SU/w-d-xo.html I've got a Tineco carpet washer coming next month too when their launched in the UK so plenty more carpet washing fun coming up 👆👍

The multi floor 2 is definitely better than this while still being light weight and it cleans much much better. Dc50 was obviously a working prototype that made it into production somehow…

Bloody hate dc50s light balls are 1000x better. Oh by the way I mentioned ages ago I was gonna have a go at putting a dc40 mk1 1200 watt motor into a ball animal 2 and after hours faffing I can honestly say it can’t be done. I was gonna just use the motor housing from the dc40 but unfortunately as I found out the screw locations are different between the light ball and dc40 chassis I thought it’d just be interchangeable but there’s 2 screws where the cord rewind goes on a dc40 and one for a ball animal. Also theses no way of putting the motor into the ball animal2 motor housing as there’s 2 lugs where the motor pushes into and also the fancase cover is completely different. It’s a big shame really as since the ball animal 2 has a bigger bin there’s more airflow that needs moving making them have less suction than a light ball which the suction on that is just about adequate.

Hey the fact that you took the time to see if it was possible is the main thing! You never know until you try, I didn't realise they'd redesigned the core of it so much

Oh hey! I'm on a mission to do the same but with a US motor. I expect I'll need to do some 3D printing, but I'll log my experience.
