    Check out my Amazon Store: amzn.to/3qsbCCm
    The amazon listing has been updated to the new version I received
    The A-iPower SUA2000i is the least expensive quiet inverter generator on Amazon. I was able to pick it up for $317.00 on sale. Full specs of generator in video.
    A note on how loud it is. I took my readings from about 3 feet away. I have found other videos doing the same comparison of a Honda EU2200i at 6 feet with a reading of 69 dBA at idle, so while this generator is louder, it is not that far off from a Honda in terms of loudness. When I place the generator outside my garage, I cannot hear it from inside.

    Great discussion, thanks for sharing this .. I have a fairly new Generac GP2200i and we recently had a 39 hour outage .. it powered fridge, a fan, modem and router and laptop charger .. two floor lamps in house, dvd player and small TV running constantly .. and even a tiny 600 microwave and a 900 watt induction hotplate which I used while the fridge was between cycles. I would say that's all I needed for relative comfort and used only about three gallons of gas. The refrigerator with top mounted freezer worked well, even on eco-mode, and had no noticeable hesitation starting using about 100 watts running and about 750 watts during start-up surge. Cheers ......

    This was so helpful!! Im a rural wooded NW property owner, a grammy having to learn all troubleshooting and maintenace needs from scratch, usually figuring out whats needed after the fact; like every year the storms take down trees along the grid, and power is out. It gets cold fast, and alone it gets depressing, and candles, kerosene lamps dont cut it. Thers so much to tackle that I dont think abt it til that happens,. Then I kick myself, but its actually my fixed income that has prevented many timely repairs, purchases etc. So, tthis demonstration of a closer to affordable, NEW, warrantied!! machine is so appreciated.. Thank You

    I bought the Costco model with the Yamaha engine last May. Had a power failure 10 days later! Kept the refrigerator and freezer going. I rate it a '10'. Easy to start and when kept 50 feet from the house, noise was not a problem at all. Even standing next to it at idle, it's fairly quiet. It is, after all, an internal combustion engine.

    I’ve had this Generator for nearly three years now. It’s set up in the workshop it up in its own external ventilated housing with separate fuel tank. It’s probably doing around 25 to 30 hours per week mainly light use with lighting and a small heater in the winter . I change the oil once a month and one spark plug fitted in and that’s about all the maintenance to date and she’s easy to start ever time.
    I was going to buy the Yamaha suitcase but didn’t have the money so jumped at this solely on cost i paid just under £500 with the Yam more than twice the cost. I figured if I can get another couple of years use it’s paid for itself if it carry’s on going for longer I guess I’ve had a result although I’m not holding my breath as I’m not sure of availability of parts which is another thing to factor in when buying.

    That is one of the features I like about this generator too: the L5-30 plug. With so many natural disasters happenning around the world, maybe manufacturers should consider designing their generators with home emergency backup as a priority instead of camping/RV/leisure in mind.

    A number of those off brand generators are coming from the same factory in China. One handy hint, when trying to pour oil, you are holding the bottle upside down, instead of the filler on the container at the bottom, turn it over, put the filler at the top, stops the glug, surge, glug, surge when pouring oil.

    For people new to generators, it's never a good idea to put a full load on a new generator. Go through the break-in process first. Use 1/2 of the full rated load and no more during the break-in period (usually 5 hours of use). This advice is usually found in the manual. It's based on letting the rings "seat" properly before going full-tilt with the load. Good luck with those generators.

  • @tristanschaper281
    @tristanschaper281 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Good video. For a break in, it's best to vary loads on the machine, not just RPM (turning eco throttle on and off). Increasing load on the engine, creates increased heat, specifically for the pistons and piston rings. Varying the loads (from no load to 50% to 100%) allows for the piston rings to expand and contract with the varying heat, and allows them to "seat" correctly, ensuring good compression, lower oil consumption and longer engine life. Putting varied loads on the engine also puts varying loads on all moving parts like crankshaft, bearings, etc, and also helps them "break in" properly, and allow for any factory-machined material to break in.

    One thing to note is that you generally don't want to use synthetic oil for engine break in. Synthetic oil doesn't allow enough friction between the rings and the cylinder wall to allow them to bed in correctly.

    Bought 2 of the 2300w from sams club on sale. They started nice and easy, were pretty quiet, esp on eco mode. Bought 2 to run in parallel to run my A/C on the trailer. I'm not sure they were up to spec on the output- as only about 30% of the time would they actually be able to get past the startup on the a/c unit, even staging the breakers. My old champion open frame of a very similar wattage pulled this off, no problem. So back they went.

      That's the "proper" way to break in a generator yeah. Those little metal bits from manufacture will be drained out in your oil changes. It should be noted that during those first couple of runs and oil changes, there should be no load put on it. Then on the third a final oil change and run, it should have a light load put on it, 500-1000w then the third and final oil change and she's ready for full on use and is broken in.

    Obviously if your looking for the best as far as dependability/longevity/quietness you would go with a Honda. But if money is an issue, go with a 2000watt “Wen” inverter/generator you can get it at Home Depot for around $388.00 that’s the best bang for your buck. It’s quiet and made with quality .

    • @45eno
      @45eno 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The WEN, Predator ,AIpower,etc are all basically the same units just with different shells on them. Just watch any of the reviews , once the side panel comes off it's the same chinese cloned Yamaha engine. I bought 2 WEN's that you mentioned back in 2016 and all these reviews of the latest 2000watt cheap inverter from Harbor Freight, Costco, Amazon, etc are the same unit with different plastic. The gas caps are dead give away they are the same units, also the hook up panels are very similar but once the side comes off you can see the same design, same oil filler position. Funny story, I ordered a WEN gen cover off Amazon but shipped from WEN. They sent me a 2nd generator instead of the $20 cover I ordered. I contacted them and said I would keep it if the price was right. Forget what it was I think $300 for the 2nd one.

    I think a review at a year or so would be more meaning. I repair generators as a business. These low cost inverters have inverter boards that often fail prematurely. They cost $300-400 to replace. Not such a good deal then. When it comes to inverters, spend the extra money on a Honda or Yamaha. You will be happy you did.

      Arber, I’m just telling you what I see. Chinese made generators are hit and miss. A blown head at 20 hours due to poor sandcasting has nothing to do with maintenance. Furthermore, I can’t tell you how many small Chinese inverters I come across that have bad inverter boards with very little use. The American brands such as Briggs, are still decent, even though made in China as they are made to American specs. A decent Chinese made generator is the Harbor Freight line of Predators.

    • @kevinsgarage

      Unfortunately it doesn’t. I have found that if I turn the on/off knob almost all the way to off it will shut off the fuel flow and drain the carb of fuel. It does make it run hotter momentarily though. There is a dedicated carb bowl drain under the cover.

      @@chriskarsseboom2200 Yeah, I know and I was just pulling Kevin's Garage's leg here with my remark but in the end it's still an AC generator with the exception of using a inverter for it's output power vs a standard generator head. I looked up the actual specs on this unit because I wanted to see if it was a pure sinewave inverter or a modified sinewave inverter. They didn't offer that information. Oddly enough although I was joking about the Harbor Freight Tailgater I thought for sure it would be an inverter setup because technically they are cheaper to build but they actually output a pure sinewave because they have a generator head. I have one with hundreds of hours logged on it and occasionally I will pull the carb and clean it but so far it has been a workhorse worth every dime I paid for it. Have you ever heard one run? I also ordered and received from Amazon an SUA2000i on April 3rd, and have been testing it ever since. I am a little confused by the front panel on your unit though. Although my unit has the same model #, mine has the cigarette plug, no USB and came with the battery charger plug & clips. I also got the parallel cables included, and my price was $319, not $317 like yours. I'm wondering if your device is some sort of transitional modification to a newer version? Except that I do not see any models listed with USB ports and no breaker reset seems strange.
    All in all, I'm thrilled with the performance, fit & finish on this device. I run it in parallel with my Harbor Freight Predator 3500 inverter and they both perform nicely. I also have the 30A plug, but run the one off of the Predator via parallel cables for my house hookup.

    Perhaps with very lightweight use this would be ok. However I am a very heavy user.
    I run my generator every day for hours and hours. I have a Honda eu2000i I bought brand new in 2005. I have had some issues with it but it keeps going. The same cannot be said for the Predator Harbor Freight nightmare I purchased on July 10th. It was ok for the first 2 weeks then it went to hell. Don't even try to run low octane fuel. Use the EXPENSIVE stuff. The pull cord just fell off. FELL OFF I tell you. I have never seen anything like that before. Then there was the oil drinking - slight but you had better watch it.
    Lastly the joy of constantly cleaning the spark arrestor. I didn't even know my Honda HAD a spark arrestor. The Chinese knock off was an every 5 minutes deal. It needs the back compression so it must be kept clean. So my Chinese cheap solution was a pain in the butt. In about a month and a half I had enough and HF were kind enough to give me a full refund. Sorry but I will only use Honda from now on. There is a reason they cost to so much.
