Wow... Great. This is complete set of what i am looking for. Your explanation is to next level.👌 You are giving us the skills to fishing not the fish. That is what I appreciate the most. 👏
You need to create coloring books to sell on Amazon. I have many videos showing you how to do that in my playlist "Self Publishing 101". You can find it here: th-cam.com/play/PLWTSGvzBAa3NggsQgd1kGGUDr58LvLtly.html
I now found that he problem is the layer you created to erase the overlapping lines, 12:39' the time on your video, when we draw the mandalas. If I make it invisible then my problem is solved but then I have to deal with the overlapping. Why this appears to me and not you? Any ideas? Thanx!
If you have any overlapping or any gaps between your sections, it's most likely because you accidentally moved one of your guidelines at some point. I know this because I did it myself the first time. I recommend that you just redo the template from scratch. Make sure to follow my directions exactly, and that you lock out the layers once they're finished, so as to prevent you from moving them by mistake.
@@CraigBabin Solved. I didn't move the upper right anchor point to the exact position. I moved it a little bit more to the left and so I created a gap. Thanx for hearing me.
Hi Awesome tutorial can you help how we can color individual elements in illustrator only. I am trying to delete guides in layer 2 and its all getting broken.... Thanks
It’s a little lengthy, but here’s how you do it. Step 1: On your line art layer, unlock your clipping mask and make sure all of your stroke layers are unlocked as well. Keep your two guide line layers locked and turned off. Step 2: If you have any full ellipses (complete circles) in your design, you need to select them one by one and expand them. To do this, with the ellipse selected go up to “Object” in the top menu and then choose “Expand”. Once you have expanded all of your ellipses, go on to step 3. Step 3: With the selection tool, select everything on your art board and then in the “Object” tab, choose “Group”. Step 4: With the object still selected, go back up to the “Object” tab and choose “Expand Appearance”. Step 5: With the object still selected, go to the “Pathfinder” menu in the right hand tool bar and choose “Merge”. Step 6: With the object still selected, go back up to the “Object” tab and choose “Live Paint” and then “Make”. Step 7: With the object still selected, go back up to the “Object” tab and choose “Live Paint” and then “Expand”. Step 8: With the object still selected, go over to the “Pathfinder” menu and choose “Unite”. Step 9: With the object still selected, go back up to the “Object” tab and choose “Live Paint” and then “Make”. Now you’ll be able to bucket fill (paint) the empty white spaces. I hope this helps.
@@CraigBabin first off thank you for this tutorial. I tried these steps and they worked except that it deleted some of my lines or strokes. Do you know why this happen? I am new to AI so I am not sure if I am doing everything correctly.
@@pamelal491 I don't know why it would delete anything. Just make sure that if you have shapes (complete circles, strokes or fills) in your drawing, that you are expanding them individually (one by one) first, before you expand all of the strokes. Everything on your art board must be either an expanded shape or a brush stroke. Only then can you group all of your strokes and shapes together and expand them. If this isn't the case, you are going to have problems. As for why your strokes disappeared, I'd have to actually walk through the process with your document to figure that out.
@@CraigBabin Thank you. This expanded all strokes and circles and that worked. I was about to follow the steps and it turned out perfect. I did have to expand some brush strokes which were disappearing. I don't know why this was happening but by expanding them it worked. Thank you.
No ... I am using Adobe Creative Cloud and I do have access to the newest version of Illustrator, but I'm using version 25.4.1. There was a bug in one of the newer versions that was annoying me, so I just went back to the version that I knew was bug free. I like to give Adobe about a year or more before I upload newer versions of their software; just so that they have time to work out all of the bugs.
Hello Craig! I have created some mandalas with the template that you share with us in this video, but when saving the document in PDF for printing, some phantom guide lines appear in the black strokes despite the fact that I have turned off the guide lines layer and also tried deleting this layer before saving the PDF. Do you have any idea on how to fix this problem? Thanks in advance!
I can't say for sure why this is happening Eva, but try reading my response to @anuragjyoti1222 further down in the comments. The steps I list in that response have been able to help many people who were encountering similar problems to yours.
@@CraigBabin I did all the steps and the problem got fixed. I had some issues in the "merge" step, but it was solved by expanding all the lines, not only circles. Now I saved it as PDF and the ghost guide lines are gone. Thanks a lot Craig, you are the best !!
Hi, excuse me, when I'm trying to make my brushes, I can't set the width to "Pressure" its not enabled so I can't select it, and I don't know what's the problem, can you help me?
I'm probably not the person to ask for this because I don't set my brushes to pressure, I don't like the feel of it. That being said, depending on the drawing tablet you are using, make sure that you have your stylus set to pen pressure in your tablet settings. If it's not, you won't be able to set your brushes to pressure either. Other than that, if it still doesn't work, there are a lot of videos on TH-cam that will show you how to set the pen pressure on your stylus as well as newly created brushes, you just need to look around a bit. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
I've never used Affinity Designer, I've always been strictly and Adobe guy, but I would imagine since it was created to compete with Illustrator that it should be very similar. The interface might be a bit different, but the principle should be the same. There has to be a video somewhere on TH-cam of someone creating mandala art in Affinity Designer. Sorry I can't be of more help.
One of the best Mandala Coloring page creation tutorials on YT. Thank you so much sir.
Thanks Niaz. I'm glad you liked it.

Hi, i get a gap on the second vertical line. (I wish i could sent a screenshot). Can you imagine why this happens?
Seems the line is overlapping my design and erases my line :(
