Hey Guys! Thanks for dropping by.
If you’re anything like me, then you've probably spent a large portion of your grade school, high school and college years, doodling aimlessly in your notebooks. In fact, for the amount of hours I’ve spent doodling throughout my educational years, I should have a Masters Degree in Doodling by now. And that got me thinking. If I’ve been able to make a living over the past 40 years from all of my hours of schooling, then why shouldn’t I be able to make a living from all of my hours of doodling?
And that’s what this channel is all about. I'll be taking a part time hobby that I’ve had since grade school, and turning it into a full time income. Being sure to chronicle everything that I'm doing along the way.
So if you’re somebody who doodles and could use some extra money ... then hit that subscribe button and come along for the ride. From tutorial videos to podcasts, my channel will be educational, as well as inspirational!
Cheers,
Craig

Why Many Professional Artists Lose Their Passion for Creating
มุมมอง 4129 หลายเดือนก่อน
There’s a widely held belief among many people in the art community, that the best way to lose your passion for the creative process is to just go professional. And in some ways, that statement is true. Artistic burnout is a very real thing among professional artists. But I don’t think it’s happening because they start doing artwork for clients, or because they’re now making money off of their ...

Will A.I. Generated Art Be the Death of Artistic Creativity?
Was this a hardcover or paperback book?
Paperback ... the only time to use hardcover books is when the book will be kept after it's finished; like a novel or story book. Most activity books are thrown away once they're done, so it's not worth creating them in hardcover and incurring all that extra expense.
❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Great video. Just wanted to know how you delete more than one page or even a design element in more than one page. I know you can do it on individual pages but I can't seem to select many pages all at once and do it. Hope you can help. Thanks
Just hold down your "Shift" key as you're selecting the pages from the left hand column. Then right click on one of the pages and choose "delete" to delete them all or "clear" to remove the content from them all.
@@CraigBabin Great thanks very much. Am guessing there is not an easier way of selecting a lot of pages at once in a grid view.
@@CarlPendlePhotos No, you can only delete pages from the left hand column.
Great content Craig. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
can i add same a+ content in multiple marketplace ? for example us and uk?
Yes. You can upload to each market manually, or upload to the US first and wait about 2 weeks, then just apply the ASIN number in each market for a quick approval.
Virus on cover vault. Be warned
Cover Vault has been out of commission for a while now. You're better off getting mockups from Adobe Stock or Placeit.
Thanks a lot very clear
You're welcome.
I purchased my own copy directly from Tom Richmond's website not too long ago!
It's a good book.
I couldn't agree more, @@CraigBabin! Thanks for commenting!
Craig… when will your course be ready?
There won't be a course, but there is a full length drawing video based on this character in my "Draw with Me" playlist.
I am a creative writer, can my works earn me passive income. Especially the religious and motivational books
Absolutely, any genre can earn passive income just as long as there is a market for it.
I need to listen to this broadcast again
can we do that on canva? plz make a video on this
I'm pretty sure you can, but I don't use Canva.
Thank you so much for sharing all of your insight! I have watched many videos on promoting a self published book and yours gives detailed information in an easy to follow format. I’ll definitely be checking out your other videos!
I'm glad you like them.
Thank you! 😊
You're welcome 😊
The Canucks come through again! Thanks.
Ha ha. You're welcome!
Thank you so much for your videos! They are very informative and easy to watch. Question: Can you change number of pages for your activity book, once you are in the middle of the project? TIA
Never mind… just read a previous comment. I guess there is no such option
No, you can't change the number of pages after you've created the book. But you can delete and add pages at any time. If you want to delete pages, go over to the left hand column, select all of the pages you want to delete, right click on one of them and choose delete.
Great work, awe-inspiring. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
Thanks for such an informative and well put together video. Really helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
great job on this. very, very helpful!
Glad to hear it!
Thank you so much for such an elaborate video. Great job
You're very welcome!
You deserve way more credit. As for Pixabay or Pexels: we will not be able to tick the "I own the copyright ..." box on KDP, as we only have a licence for these images. Or are we allowed to do that and only put the credentials at the end of the book? What would you suggest? This "copyright" issue is really bugging me. Amazon can ask you anytime to send them proof of copyright for the content on and in your book.
Maybe these videos of mine will help clear up some of your concerns : th-cam.com/video/slPwJazU3Kw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-cB-V7nBS9tlmNl5 th-cam.com/video/7-zzTAHpTl8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_dfVF6BTS8k7B4gK
Thanks for this great summary. What about the infamous copyright: do we own copyright on puzzles that we've created with bookbolt, or any similar puzzles generating tools?
You're paying for a service that generates unique puzzles that you have a right to use commercially. When you use those puzzles in a book, you own the copyrights to the book as a whole.
Lenovo tab p12how to use the pen?.
I don't know what you're asking me.
Just came across this video, my question is as an author who has a non exclusive contract on different writing site, can I aso promote my book on Amazon or does it go against the site rules
If what you mean is that if you have published your book with someone other than KDP (like Ingram Spark), or any other publisher, can you still use Amazon ads? Yes. Anyone who sells a product on Amazon can use Amazon ads. As far as A+ content, it is available for all Amazon sellers, but it's accessed differently for sellers than it is for KDP users. As an Amazon seller, you would have to access it through Seller Central instead of through your KDP account.
does it really have to be sooooooo difficult just to create a coloring book? it would be easier to build a house what the hell does book bolt do. i have never listened to something so difficult and I work in a lab developing cancer medication, how does the app help you? it sounds like you are doing everything
I would find it difficult to build a house or even create medicine for cancer, as an artistic designer. But I could create one of these coloring books in just a few days. You may find this hard because design may not be your strong suit. As for Book Bolt, it's a desk top publishing software that's designed specifically for the purpose of creating books for KDP. It's like Adobe InDesign only it's exclusively simplified for book publishing only. As for what the app offers; it allows you to lay out your entire book (interior and cover) all at once, which even InDesign doesn't do. It will also generate a multitude of puzzles for you such as word search, crossword, sudoku, etc. And finally, it's a research tool that allows you to research profitable niches on Amazon, before you even begin to create your book. So that you don't waste your time creating a book that no one will ever buy. This process may seem difficult, but I assure you it's really not once you get the hang of it.
Please tell me you don't have to BUY a library card in America?
I don't know about the US, but you do in Canada. lol
@@CraigBabin In the UK we have to pay £1 if we lose our card, but not pay for the actual card.
@@sdff3965 A library card in Canada is around $2, so it's not expensive.
I've never had to buy an American library card
@@michelethe80sbaby As a Canadian I can't complain, I've never had to pay for Health Care. lol
Thank you so much for sharing this information. You are also a great teacher. I learned so much. I just subscribed, too.
Awesome! Thank you!
Here I am Craig, I have found this! 🙃 A+ Content - what I had inquired on in one of your other videos, I will give it a go. Thank you!!!
Let me know how it works out for you.
Hi Craig, Your information is so helpful, thank you. I do have a question, do you have a video on KDP A+ Content Creation? I am brand new to KDP, have 3 books currently and moving forward, however I really need to work on promoting, etc while my story book is in the trusty hands of my editor and my illustrator. Thank you so much, have a lovely day. Marian
Yes I do, and I see you've already found that video. Best of luck!
Great reflection! I’ve totally noticed that happen to me as well. Sometimes it’s really hard to finish watching something, I just want the finished product. Or “the answer”. I really liked the format of your video, the drawing part made it feel hypnotizing and helped listen to the content attentively. I also love the clean up process of the drawing! I hope to see more videos from you soon! Thanks
I feel the same way about process videos.
Thanks do much! Excellent insights! 😊
Glad it was helpful!
It appears when you export your indesign file to PDF (including bleed settings) just make sure to select "Acrobat 8/9 (PDF 1.7)" on the export screen under Compatibility. Now you can set your document to the actual size (e.g. 6x9) and include your bleed settings separately. I just had Amazon approve two of my books with this setting. I prefer it this way because I can see what my book will look like in Indesign after the book is cut.
Good to know. KDP must be updating their settings.
Do you think amazon still accepts content generated by book bolt or other AI? Thank you
Absolutely, they'll always accept it. Book Bolt doesn't use AI to generate the puzzles so there will never be a problem with them. And as for AI, as long as you identify that the book was created using AI when you upload it to KDP, you're fine.
Thanks for this great and clarify video. I'm have my book reject tree times, and now i now how i can solve this bleed adjustment.
Glad it was helpful!
Craig you’re the best, thank you! I’m going to apply this business model to my two channels right away. I always thought it would be confusing to people if I talked about how I made money on my channel but your video made it make sense so I’m going to start doing that! Also…I just received the second proof of my medium content book today! Almost ready to publish (I’m still working on the pdf that goes with it that you suggested which was brilliant!). I can’t wait to share it with my viewers because it goes along with my YT channel. Do you know if you can pre-launch your medium content book and people can pre-order it? Also, I started a journal business with my daughters for a homeschool project and we just added a+ content, using your video as a guide. Seriously, you rock. Anyway, thanks so much!!
I'm glad I'm able to help you in your business venture. As for the pre-order, I'm pretty sure that only eBooks can be pre-ordered with KDP. But don't quote me on it, you'll have to look into it to be sure. Best of luck!
Hi I can’t find your book bundle on Amazon? Can you tell me how to find it? I am looking for college ruled bleed lined notebook paper template
It's not on Amazon it's on Gumroad. There's a link to it in the description section of this video. You can find the bundle here: Low Content Book Bundle for $3: bit.ly/37ZFCM5
Don't you have to leave space on back cover where Amazon barcode goes?
The barcode that Amazon places on your book will be a rectangular box with a white background, so any illustration that you have in that bottom right hand corner on the back of your book will be covered up. That's why I recommend in the video not to place any important text or imagery in that area. The coral along the bottom of the book in this example is not important, so it can be covered by the barcode.
@@CraigBabin right. Thanks.
I want honest reviews for my first book. Also , I need to ask a few questions.
All reviews should be honest and a review on a book that was given as a gift can still be honest.
@@CraigBabin yes ik . I mean serious reviews. Can you help ?
@@manumalhotra8752 This video shows you a few ways on how to get those first initial reviews on your book. Once your book starts selling because of those initial reviews, it will all come down to how good of a product you made. At the end of the day, 90% of your reviews are going to come from making a product that people want and enjoy. I really don't believe that there is a secret way to get reviews, other than create good books.
WHY tho?! u can buy sudokos for under 2 bucks anywhere pretty much
This isn't about creating Sudoku's for yourself, this is creating books you can sell on Amazon to make income. And if you're selling content that already exists on Amazon (like pre-made Sudoku's you purchase that other sellers are also using), then there's a really good chance that your book will be removed and your seller's account terminated for using duplicate content.
Hi Craig, thank you for this amazing video. I have two questions: once you've purchased the domain, where do you create a website? And the website is supposed to send people to my Amazon? Sorry about the confusion, I'm wondering whether I need a website in addition to the landing page and if the website is images + links to Amazon. Thank you so much for your help and for all this wonderful content!
You don't necessarily need a website, just as long as you have your Amazon author page set up. You can use that as your website and drive all of your traffic from your social media to that. All you have to do is forward your custom domain to the author page. That being said, many of the biggest authors do still use websites. It allows them to do promotional giveaways, as well as collect email addresses that can be used to market their new books to. But you're right, a landing page would also work just fine. Sites like Wix.com and Squarespace.com can be used to do that.
@@CraigBabin you sir are the GOAT!!! Thank you so much for your quick, helpful and detailed response. I've purchased my domain now. Thank you so, so much!! <3
Thank you so much for your educational video. It is very helpful for creating a low-content puzzle book.

Hi, i did the same but i face little bit problem. After expand there are space in clipping mask area.what to do please help me
That happens from time to time, you just made a mistake when creating the mask. Unfortunately, all you can do is redo the mask properly.
Great video Craig. One thing I am not sure of is buying the copy through Amazon vs mailing an author copy to the influencer. I thought we weren't allowed to buy our own books since it could artificially affect the ranking? So you are saying that you would buy a copy of your book on Amazon and change the shipping address to that of the influencer's? And this give you a royalty, is free shipping for you, and is ok by Amazon standards?
Amazon is fine with you buying your own books. You don't want to give author copies to people because those copies have the author proof mark in them. Amazon actually encourages you to purchase at least a few of your own books when you launch your book. First, it allows you to see the actual finished product that the customer is going to receive. And secondly, it gives your book a sales ranking, which you don't get until you actually sell a book. And besides, wouldn't you want to own the first published copy of your own book? Now if you abuse the system and purchase thousands of copies, that's a different story. But giving away a dozen copies as gifts is fine. Yes, you are receiving a royalty when you do that, but it's you who is paying for that royalty when you purchase the book at full price. If you do public book signings at a comic con, you have to order copies of your book to sign. You can't use author copies because of the proof mark. So authors who make graffic novels, and who self publish through KDP, do this all the time. They may purchase 100 copies or more at a time to resell at trade shows.
Adding new categories seems to have disappeared, they no longer accept request for adding new categories
Yeah, that's been changed since I created this video.
Very helpful. Thank you!
You're welcome!
