I just got my dad's old Poulan Pro 205 from 1985. It needed a $7 carb kit (the kit came with 5 rebuild kits) and it needed a fuel line which I had. She runs like new after some cleaning and tlc. I'm 42 years old and I remember cutting wood with my dad when I was like 10 years old with this exact saw. I was happy I could bring back something from my past. I have a Stiel MS250C but I love using the old vintage poulan. BTW, those foam filters are usually supposed to be oiled before use, not completely dry as you mentioned. I could be wrong about your particular model but most foam filters are designed to be oiled to work properly.
Awesome video, you went slow explained what you were doing and did'nt say "well you need to do this" and then cut to when you have already done it, no jokes or stupid social hipster editing so this video is a definite thumbs up! THANK YOU!
Great video! You're straight to the point and your tips are awesome. Normally I skip thru all of the BS but it was hard for me to skip thru anything! Appreciate your advice!!
Thank you so much for the great tips. A friend gave me a Poulan Wild Thing and it has always been a pain to start but when I get it running. I am going to go through it with your tips to see if I can get it running better.
Good Video! Just a tip, not all bars have a hole for the oiler on bothe sides so just make sure your bar has an oil hole on bothe side before flipping, cheers!
you cant beat those little pole-an ( correct pronunciation in Tennessee hillbilly country lol) saws for clearing small under brush they will outwork more expensive saws for one important reason. they are much lighter than more expensive saws so you dont tire out as easy .. staying bent over all day cutting under brush is a killer if you dont have a light weight saw .
I was gifted one of these months ago. I was told that it didn't run. I had little trouble getting it running. Truthfully, I didn't even find anything wrong with it. I had to adjust the carb screws or whatever they're called but that's it. I kind of lucked out because the gas had been drained (I'm guessing years ago). I noticed mine doesn't have a chain break. I wonder if there was two versions of the wood shark 1950? I dunno...
Rookie. I could hear the fuel strainer rattling around in the tank when he first shook the saw. That's a sure sign that the lines are bad! He said "I can hear the fuel in it". He was hearing the fuel strainer rattling around. So we knew it was having a fuel line problem, which is one of the most common problems but he went on to test the spark. I guess if you check all the boxes you will get it fixed eventually but it's not very efficient. Another thing is that if the fuel strainer is off the saw was likely run without a strainer and that means that any dirt in the fuel tank is getting drawn in and will end up stuck in the carburetor, which will need to be cleaned as well. Usually the primer bulb will need replacement as well.
Enjoyed this video on the Poulan Woodshark, model 1950. I have one of these and the top handle doesn’t move. Can you give me an idea as to what I should do to correct that issue?
In my chainsaw, I had kickback on start even with the spark plug removed. Flushed out cylinder walls with CRC electronic cleaner. Somehow the piston & cylinder got gooie.
Does it stick, feel rough, or sound clunky? If it sticks you can use a penatrating oil like PB Blaster to help loosen any rust, this will also help with the rough feeling. You can use a lubricant like WD-40 if it feels rough or sounds clunky.
what do you do if somebody decided to drill one of the holes out bigger so they can get a fuel line in it but it wouldn't seal and you get a bigger fuel line or what one I guess the return fuel line is drilled out too big for regular fuel line what do you do
Use a soldering tool to and take a screw driver and put it threw the hole and melt the plastic around and let it hardened then take your screw driver out and put a new fuel line.
Great video but I still can’t feed the gas line through the hole. I don’t want to use a smaller diameter one because of leak issue. Any suggestions? 13:57
The Poulan I have 2155 looks the same? My tank pressurized so fast it pushes gas out on cap and fuel lines coming out of the tank. The vent in the cap looks good. Any ideas?
Hi,do you mean fuel mix? Recommended was 40 : 1 gas to 2 stroke oil. Preferably semi synthetic. If using straight mineral, told 32:1 or even 25:1. Hope helpful.
@@MidwestGarage i did and it was gapped just off a bit. Oh and the gas line was falling apart on my craftsman so I got that fixed too. Tomorrow I am going to try them out.
Great advice ! I’ve worked with chainsaws in the tree industry for over 40 years and your instruction is spot on !

I also have a Poulan 1950 wood shark bought new in 2002. Still running strong with regular maintenance. Thanks for the video.

FOLLOWED YOUR ADVICE i finally got the saw going. it took a lot of pulling but it worked
Thank you bro.. I enjoy how your guides arent time wasting .!

Darn good deal, easy to do, you spoke clearly, pointed out tips and got it done. Appreciate you brother.
Thank you, appreciate the walk through. Super easy to understand the way you laid it all out.
If you drop start your saw or another tool, you have a big chance you can break your recoil.mainly on easy start systems
Excellent video and information. Note: Don't forget to check the primer bulb too. Thank you for sharing! 👍
Great video! You earned a new subscription mate.

Thanks. Good tips. My McCulloch MAC436 looks almost identical. It runs great too👍
Great video! What would you use to clean off all the grease, sawdust, etc that builds up on surfaces?
I’m getting Chrisfix of small engines from this video and I love it
Thanks and good content man. New subscriber here and I’m glad I found your channel!

Very nice educational video! Kudos to you! Keep it up!
Love that blue truck
We got it running finally. The gaping was off fuel filter broke off and carb had to be cleaned.
Awesome! That's not too bad then, I'm glad you got it up and going again!
Like #102 You have really helped my out with this issue... I had some trees full during the storm. Thanks again...

Great tutorial my dude you rock

I set the cap on the ngk plug to 0.30 and it is easy to start after it gets really hot after long use
I have a big tip for you.if one line is breaking you can replace all of them so you wont have to replace the other one later.
Why if it ain't broke dont fix it. If you have to general skill to even do this then you might as well get your monies worth
I have the same saw but it will not run, how many turns do you have on your carb? For high and lower and idle speed
Great video thank you
What can you do if the pull cord doesn't pull out smoothly?

Mi poulan 2750 ya murió. No se consigue más pistón ,sellos de cigueñal y cilindro. 😢
Nice very informative

Nice teachings, would have liked a few close ups😉
My wood shark warms up it dies and wont run i was told its leaks thru the crank seals when it warms up do you have input on this situation
Sounds like the carb needs some adjustment. Wouldn't idle and it bogged down with throttle.
Used one is $20 bucks tops
Most of the time it’s carb diaphragm and fuel lines and filter 😊
Great video but I still can’t feed the gas line through the hole. I don’t want to use a smaller diameter one because of leak issue.

I think it's the Leatherface chainsaw replica.
Carb needs adjusting nice job
Dude your great !!!!!
So I believe you said the saw was a 50:1 ratio on fuel mix but I missed why you are using the 40:1 mix?

La scie poulain à te l des pointe
Great video! What was the second fuel line on the carb?🙊
It's the return. Fuel flows through the carb and the extra returns to the tank.
Is 100%gas and oil ok to run on my 2150. ?

If no compression?
My poulen stops when hot after 10 minutes and wont restart for 12-24 hours. Any ideas.
I have a video on how to fix that exact problem actually. Check out the channel for it!

Please let us know the outcome.
@@omadeitz3340 Good deal, let me know how it works! Thanks.
Dont forget to grease bar sprocket! Grease, not oil or wd-40
What should have taken place, was all of those fuel lines should have been replaced.
My chainsaw is about 40 years old
And u didn’t give it the basic wood cutting test cap
If you don't change all the fuel lines while you've got it apart you're wasting your time.
Super fuel looks like a off brand to tru fuel
Let it idle
No I don't give a crap 😂😂😂😂😂 👍
Ok you don’t sharpen your fucking chain every time you refill your gas tank. If I did that shit I would be filing more than I was cutting.

How to fix a Poulin chainsaw. Add gas pull it 50 times throw it in the junk pile. Go get your Husky and cut some wood!!!
Great video, but I do not believe the 1st pull start! They don't do that new.
