    Hey Pan, another very good shampoo that can be used every so often to remove tougher contaminants is Adam's Graphene Shampoo. Can't recall if you've tested that one before. Adam's describes it as a... "Traditional foaming shampoo that balances choice, high foaming surfactants, and citrus-based degreasers to generate a wash that is more than capable of powering through all kinds of road films and grime". Another attribute is the low friction characteristics that graphene provides which in theory will help prevent some marring during a wash. I believe they recommend every third wash or so. Using a Nanomitt with it works really well.

      This is totally not true. Unless you had some crappy PPF installed. Heck quality PPF manufacturers like XPEL even have their own line of ceramic coatings to be applied on top of the PPF.
      The ceramic coating will prevent the PPF from yellowing, as it helps to block UV rays, and also will provide your PPF with more slickness, and also provide self-cleaning properties making the car easier to wash, and provide chemical resistance, and awesome hydrophobic properties. Depending on which coating you apply, some can increase the gloss too, but the PPF specific coatings not as much as the paint coatings.

    Coated my M2C with full XPEL ppf coverage, as well as a buddy's 911 Carrera T (also with full PPF coverage - Suntek ultra), with GTechniq Halo - in part from your video and in part from Obsessed Garage videos - and must say, it's been performing very well, and am overly happy with it. I did both cars over the 4th of July weekend in the USA, and after a couple maintenance washes since, still obviously holding up nicely. The beading and sheeting is so strong, that even the heavy suds from my foam cannon don't want to stick to the car when initiating the washing process. Thanks for the videos, Pan!

    Based on this video, I applied two coats of Gtechniq Halo to my Fiat 500 Abarth which has a "distressed patina" vinyl wrap. The 3-M over-laminate on the printed wrap has a matte finish and I was worried that this product might ruin the effect by increasing the gloss. I'm happy to say that the matte finish was unchanged and looks exactly the same as before. However, when I run my hand across the finish it feels much more slick. It remains to be seen if this coating performs as well as the Adams Graphene coating I used on my Porsche and several other vehicles, chosen also because of one of your earlier videos.
    Compared with the Adams Graphene, the prep work for the Halo product was a bit less because I didn't clay bar the vinyl wrap but the application took more effort because the Halo not only requires two coats, it also has a little more drag when leveling (wiping) the coating. However, it certainly wasn't difficult. I also miss the nifty blue UV tracer in the Adams product which glows blue under a UV light so you can see exactly where it was applied.
    For reference, I used half of the 60ml bottle of Adams to do my Porsche. It took 2/3 of a 50ml bottle of Halo to do my Fiat but I dropped the bottle and spilled a little bit. I would say that I could have gotten by with the 30ml bottle but if your car is larger than a Fiat 500 (aren't all cars?) then go with the 50ml bottle of Halo and try not to waste any. I also suspect a gloss wrap or PPF would use less product than my matte vinyl wrap.
    Thank you again for keeping us up to speed on the latest and greatest products for protecting our cars.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing your experience. Just keep in mind PPF coatings don't last as long as some of the more durable paint coatings. You should expect 1 to 2 years of protection if you applied it well, and do proper maintenance. I will also be looking forward to long term durability results in my conditions, to see how well they do over time, as they are still fairly new to the market.

    Excellent video Pan; so good to see a pro' at work. I noticed that when applying the second square to the bonnet (hood), you overlapped the first square. Cleary, after a minute or so of drying, that created no apparent problem. So, how long can a section be left drying before application of the adjacent panel without causing any problems? You can tell, I worry for England to Olympic standard.

      Don't overthink the moment. As long as you are methodical and apply the coating in one sitting, you're fine. It takes 24 hours for the initial cure to fully happen. But you can usually correct high spots up to 30 min after the application.

As mentioned in the video it is a very product to use in the correct conditions. I personally like to try and stay with Gtechniq products as much as possible as they design and produce these in the labs research etc for maximum results, would be nice to see this product last that bit longer if they can do this would be great, that would be it's only let down to me.

    Hehe, I giggle too when applications are that easy. It's kind of hard to believe sometimes. The first time I applied ceramic I was just blown away. It's like an entire bottle of Chemical Guys V07 sealant was dumped on the car. It's nuts. But graphene is becoming a major competitor too. @@PanTheOrganizer One thing I've just learned browsing the product pages that might be of note here is that CarPro Skin can be removed with a stripping solution, so apparently no polishing necessary if you decide to change coatings down the line. If accurate it's a great selling point IMO, and they also claim heavy UV resistance, which can be particularly important for PPF. Just comparing the product claims between the two featured here.

    Hi Pan, great video as always. Do we need to wait for PPF to fully cure before applying any coating on top? How long should i wait after getting my PPF installed?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After PPF has been installed, it can take a few days to fully cure and settle. It's recommended to not wash the car for 7 days after the PPF is installed, and also avoid touching or pressing areas on the film for at least a week. You may notice some bubbling after installation that will smooth out once the film has completed dried and settled.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's pretty much the exact same prep. Except you would be very gentle with a light polish only if you see fine scratches in the PPF. And avoid using tar removers. But you can wash, use an iron remover (don't let it dry on the surface though, and don't work in direct sunlight!) and light polish, followed by the IPA wipe. Pretty much the same as for normal paint.

    Great video! Hoping you can clarify something for me. While these coatings are supposed to be formulated specifically for PPF, your earlier videos (and those of many others) have always said that other ceramic coatings that were not formulated specifically for PPF could still be applied over PPF. In many cases, the durability of the other ceramic coatings (CQuartz UK 3.0, Glassparency, and some others) have 2 or 3X the longevity (claims) of the two featured here. If the others can last longer, then what "advantage" is there really to these coatings being formulated specifically for PPF? If you recommend using these over traditional ceramic coatings, why is that? Or are these just two more "options" in the arsenal, without any real advantage over traditional ceramics?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      That's a great question and it would be best answered by the chemists that formulate these products. My understanding is that paint coatings can usually be applied to PPF but you can't guarantee the durability as much as they weren't specifically made for that purpose. PPF specific coatings will usually do a better job on PPF.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      PPF coatings are only for PPF. But most paint coatings can also be applied on PPF. So if you have a mix of paint and PPF, get a good paint coating and apply to all those surfaces.

    Hi Pan! If one already has PPF+ceramic coating applied, would it be advisable to use SiO2 toppers (not necessarily designed for PPF) every once in a while to help the CC last longer? And for that extra GLOSS? I'm thinking Gyeon Wet Coat, Capro Elixir every 1-3 months and maybe a ceramic detailer every now and then. Also wondering if those new Turtle Wax Graphene products (Flex Wax, to the Max Wax) would work well over a ceramic coat that's on top of a PPF. Thanks for all the awesome videos!

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I would absolutely use SiO2 or graphene toppers to maintain the PPF and ceramic coating. Gyeon WetCoat is a great simple to use maintenance product. Flex Wax is compatible too, but it's a longer lasting product, so you usually use it more as a base layer of protection, not really a topper. And Max Wax I wouldn't recommend on top of a ceramic coating.

      Thanks! Yes in general ceramic coatings boost gloss on the surface. The car after the coating certainly looked better than before the coating was applied.

    W5 Citus came in a spray bottle and I beleive you said 5-6 months to use? Just spray on PPF and wipe off? Also, I used the HALO and also purchased the Reset (maintenance) and the C2 Ceramic Sealer. How often should I use the C2?

    Good morning Pan. Will be parting with my 2015 BMW 435i M Sport and getting a 2022 Kia EV6. Will definitely be adding PPF at least to the front back to the door panels. Don’t know anything about PPF, what type to use or who I select to apply. After applied and watching this Video will do the prep and then apply a coating. Will it be AvalonKing or one of those in the Video? My experience applying AvalonKing might make the process easier. Oh, plus everything I learned from you over the past 2 years.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good thing is that you can also apply AvalonKing on top of PPF, so if you still have it, use it on all the car.

    A great video pertaining to PPF, ceramic coating and maintenance. I use Car Pro Ech20 Pan. Is that enough to clean the contaminants on the PPF and ceramic coating? I use Reload every 4 months also.

      @PanTheOrganizer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ech2O is a waterless wash/quick detailer depending on dilution. It's not meant for a perfect clean. When possible, I would still recommend a good traditional two bucket wash with CarPro Reset.

    @Pan - you said several times both coatings are fine for matte PPF, which I have on my Tesla model Y. I wrote to the CarPro people and they said Skin may make the matte fairly glossy (maybe not ruining the PPF, but a glossy/shiny layer on top). Have you personally applied over matte PPF? Thoughts?
    The Ceramic Pro PPF installer used Ceramic Pro’s PPF/Vinyl base and top coat as a protectant in the Tesla. Thoughts on Ceramic Pro products? Would you switch to the ones in your video?
    Thanks!

      I haven’t tested on matte surfaces. But CaPro themselves, on their own official website, state it can be used on matte surfaces. Check it out here: carpro.global/catalog/cquartz-skin/
      So it seems we’re getting conflicting information from the brand.
      One thing that can happen is coatings, even matte coatings, often make the surface richer in appearance. But not glossy.

    Thank you for making this video. I just bought a Taycan 2 weeks ago, and auto shops have given me different prices for PPF and Ceramic Coating. I’ve rn on the fence on which to do, and this video has helped me tremendously. Now, I know to have PPF done at the shop and I can apply the ceramic coating. Thank you!!
    Do you know if Xpel for PPF is a good product?

    Hey Pan, love all of your videos! Overall, would you recommend ppf with a ceramic coating OR just ceramic coat everything OR stay old school and just use sealants, wax etc....

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't answer that question Bob, as it depends on your needs and budget. I personally don't like the look or feel of PPF, but I get a brand new car every three years, so scratches and stone chips are of no concern to me, and I do low yearly mileage. If you're someone that keeps their car 5+ years, drives 12,000 miles or more yearly, and are concerned about scratches and stone chips, then PPF is your only solution.
      For the best of both worlds, you would have a PPF applied first, and then a ceramic coating on top. But that is a costly option for sure.
      Ceramic coatings (the real ones in glass bottles), last for years, compared to just a few months for regular carnauba waxes or paint sealants. So ceramic coatings are the best form of paint protection in my opinion.

    Another great video Pan and thanks as I'm about to ceramic coat the portions of my car that have PPF. I was watching to see how you prepped the PPF because as you say - that's the hard part. What products would you recommend for polishing PPF? Manufacturers warn against it but detailers say it's OK provided you use very fine polish, soft pads, and no pressure. Maybe something for a future lesson?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sonax Perfect Finish polish and a Rupes yellow foam pad (fine) is my combo for PPF. Works great. Here are links:
      Rupes yellow foam pad: bit.ly/3ujLF7x
      Sonax Perfect Finish: bit.ly/3guRQ0h
      PPF manufacturers have no choice to be on the cautious side as they don't know what compounds or polishes or pads people will be using. You can imagine the potential nightmare if they wouldn't warn people against that. If you know what you're doing and use common sense, a light polish is fine.

    Thank you for great video tutorial. On my fully Ppfd T-MS I have applied Avalon King ceramic coating. Car looks great but after first wash the surface is not very slick. Is there any specific product that improves slickness or even better like water sheeting? I would be very thankful if you can provide me and the whole watching community this advice.

    • @lazyjacket
      @lazyjacket 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Top it with APEX ReHydra Sheet, for a slick and sheeting finish. Reapply once a month, or dilute it 1:1 and use it as a drying aid after each wash. If you want beading, use ReHydra Bead
