    I watch a lot of these kinds of videos, but this is one of the best examples I've seen of true scratch building. So many videos claim to be of a scratch build, but when you start watching they're heavily using 3D printers. Excellent work! I'm off to watch part 2 now :-)

      Did you miss the part where he used a whole load of laser cut MDF pieces that seemed to fit his sketches perfectly? Anything you build without using a model kit is a 'scratch build', some people just use bespoke pieces rather than trying to find the perfect piece of junk

    Awesome! very inspiring! i'm in a big trouble here, i can't find online or tutorials about 360º joints, for making feet or arms or heads rotate, i don't want to use ball joints

    • @CutTransformGlue
      @CutTransformGlue  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I have close to none experience in moveable joints so I avoid them most of the time, but I guess you should consider using ball joints since the are very often used in the stop motion industry.. Is there any specific reason to avoid ball joints?

    • @gmoney771
      @gmoney771 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you've ever built a Gundam model they actually handle this nicely, the couple a joint limited to one axis to another and that achieves essentially 360 degrees of movement.
      If you haven't built a Gundam before you can buy kits for about $20-$30 and maybe see what I mean for yourself.

    Hi from Iowa u. s. When you sketch your ideas, do you consider the bits you have? Or do you just flow and deal with it after? Great work btw.

    • @CutTransformGlue

      Most of the time, yes! Sometimes I get the whole build idea from an specific plastic piece... But for the sniper spaceship it was different. I had only the concept of a sniper spaceship and figured it out on the sketching... Thanks for that amazing question!

    Nice. I love watching these videos. I’ve got to get into this. My wife already thinks that I hoard things. Wait till she sees all the plastic crap I’ve started to keep!! 😂

      That's awesome :D If you start at junkbashing/scratchbuilding make sure to send me photos of your creations, maybe hit me on instagram! I love to make people inspired since I started myself the very same way! I'm a hoarder of plastic shapes and pieces, but those plastic boxes can make things organized so it doesn't look too bad :))

    • @bradhouston4734
      @bradhouston4734 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cut Transform Glue I think that will be the key.
      If I actually get the stuff that is roughly organised (read mostly shoved in the garage, but I know where it is) onto shelves, and I then handed either boxes or containers for my different “parts”, then I’ll be much more on the way.
      I might even look ‘organised!?!’ 😂

      Cut Transform Glue thanks for the offer. I’ll keep you posted. I’m an aspiring Aussie Filmmaker with a major interest in creating sci-fi using the old old school techniques of ‘models’, ‘miniature scenes’ and maybe even really old, built a spaceship set piece and get volunteers to physically shake it from the outside during the turbulent parts!...of space travel
