    "I've been doing scratch builds since 1979; very nice work"! kinda looks a space HUMM-V. Don't worry about dings, scratches and things I always use them as battle scars it helps in giving the subject that used look. I use hot finishing nails very carefully to create Lazer blasts, then finish it up by carefully applying burning smoke from a piece of plastic over areas I need effects especially the after burners , then using a small paint brush to smear it a little"! an excellent job you did; Keep up the good work"! TWO THUMBS UP"!!

    FANTASTIC!!!!! You did an incredible job on this!
    I like those designs so much, and you combined the best parts on this remarkable build.
    When you were showing how some of the existing bits in your collection fit together so well, I could feel the satisfaction. That's one of my favorite parts of doing scratch/bash builds, when two unrelated things I did not make go together like they were meant to be. I can't say enough positives about the end result you got! Wow.

      Wow! Thank you so much! I completely agree about the satisfaction of bashing models together. I feel like I'm starting to get decent results with my crafting but my video production is seriously lacking in comparison 😂
      If and when you feel like checking out another build of mine, you'd probably like my robot character I built from only the parts of a lighter 👍

    Quick tip: If you glue alot of styrene, buy a bottle of ethylacetate. 1L 10 bucks. Tamiya is a great company and all, but turning 20 cents into 5 bucks is a rip off :p

      Sounds like a bargain. I don't know enough about chemicals to be buying raw materials however simple it may seem to someone in the know. This 40ml bottle of Tamiya costs me less than $3 and has lasted me one year and is still 1/3 full even after knocking it over all over my desk once 😂

    Another way to make curved shapes without heating is to use something with a rounded end like a broom handle.Hold it in a vice or clamp it down, hold plastic with both hands and rub it around the the top with a little pressure. The plastic will start taking on a curved shape. I use the end of my desk sometimes. 👍🏻🖖🏻

    My only nit that I can pick is the size/scale. By using that 1/35 driver dude this ship is teeny-tiny. I would suggest tracking down a similar figure in 1/72 scale, I think that would fit better and make the size a bit more believable.

    I loved watching this project so much! Two notes: 1) the figurine looks like he is having a pain in the ass (as I do right now. It's slippery in Lithuania this time of the year, fell down :) ) 2) "decentarised" thrusters would make a wobbly spaceship. The wired cables - wonderful idea! I will steal it if you don't mind. Attention to details just blew my mind. And probably a stupid suggestion - you could plant an LED in the tube, holding the ship. Would look amazing...

    if you want to mould hot plastic sheet to the shape of a bottle etc, you can use a piece of 4" dense foam to push down on, this will give you a tighter form in the plastic sheet

    I also like McQue's work. I don't know if I would can them spaceships though. Airial vehicles propelled by handwavium is more likely. On one the paper modelling sites somebody once did a 1/35 scale paper model of his Ramora when he couldn't get the resin model from Industia Mechanica. The figures that go with the resin kits are a refreshing change from military ones.

    • @BPCustomCreations
      @BPCustomCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah space ship is an identifiable term that more or less fits the aesthetic. I had no idea kits were made of Ian's work! You got me excited and then I saw they've been out of print for years 😢

    You used a lot of tape for that one blade shard when an empty bottle of vitamins with the safety cap would greatly reduce that. I've been guilty of that too but I've found a container makes less waste.
    Edit: Wanted to add that the overall build came out pretty neat. It's cool how you used the foam to your advantage in the construction. Pretty cool stuff.

      Good call but I live in Japan and we have to separate all of our trash in very specific ways. Broken glass and other sharp items such as knives have to be taped up and you need to write "危険" (dangerous) on them. I could have used a tissue and then tape I suppose.

    When working with flat stock without details on either side, you don't need to flip your pattern for cutting, since you can flip the styrene when you're done. You might want to do the flip, but that would only be for reducing waste during pattern layout.

    • @BPCustomCreations
      @BPCustomCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very true 👍 I was flipping mine because my styrene has a smooth side and a textured side and I want to keep the surfaces consistent.

    I used to soak copy paper in CA glue to make structures that styrene was too thick for. You could stick the paper in place with a bunch of overlap. Once dry, you can carve it to shape. Might be useful if ever you need to fill voids as in the ones between the roof and wall panels

    • @BPCustomCreations
      @BPCustomCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! Thank you. I do this with super glue quite a bit when working on diecast cars. It can get a bit "hot" for working with styrene depending on the size of the parts and the amount of glue used but a very useful trick 👍
      Off the top of my head my plague doctor car video, post apocalyptic sail video and gaslands van video all showcase the use of super glue and paper in different situations.
