Rum is a liquor made by fermenting then distilling sugar cane molasses or sugar cane juice. Having tried Caribbean Rum on the channel before, we just knew that we had to see what others rums were out there so we decided to have our lovely Irish people try some rum! Yum yum!

I toured the Appleton Estate. The bus ride to it was terrifying, but as soon as you step off the bus, they put a rum punch in your hand. Bus ride back about 7 drinks later, not so bad.
Why was the bus ride so terrifying?
K-leb It had crazy drivers, narrow road over the mountain with 2 way traffic, no guard rails with a steep drop off the road, and road was very rough. Pot holes all over that the driver kept swerving around. It was not fun, but after a few rum punches and having samples of all the products, not as bad on the way back. On the return, halfway up the mountain, the driver stopped in the middle of the road. Got out of the bus and walked around to the back. He had stopped to pee. Didn’t go behind a bush or anything, just went behind the bus. Crazy little trip, the tour was actually pretty interesting with a bit of history and a demonstration of how they used to make it with donkeys driving a cane mill.
Because Jamaicans aren’t scared to die Bahahahaha the roads are big enough for 1 vehicle and they consider them 2 lane roads and never use their brakes! Lol

But when our tour group got to the Appleton Estate, we saw the wrought iron "APPLETON" arch over the walkway, and the stone chimneys, and we all started singing the "Golden Ticket" song from Willy Wonka. It was glorious.
And what about the Rum Funk smell from walking into the aging warehouse?

Kraken Rum is probably my all time favourite, it's truly beautiful and the smell is heavenly.

I decided to come back to this video just to say that this video inspired me to ask for a bottle of rum for Christmas, and my uncle got me a bottle of The Kraken, and oh my goodness. That rum is just so damn good. So smooth and such an amazing flavor. Thank you Try Channel for the inspiration! :D

Thanks for this - I had forgotten how much I liked the "House Punch" spice rum and fruit juice drinks I had in Jamaica. I was just out of college and until that point I had only had Bacardi.
