The angrier the Bishop gets, the stronger his Irish accent becomes haha
Jim Norton was a great actor.
@@pauljordan4452 He is still a great actor.
Right so. Now. could that be because Jim was born here in Dublin ? you little bolox
@@antster1983 IS. Sorry, he's 83 years young.
I always thought the bishop brennan accent sounded Scottish. But you'd know he was irish when he shouts.
Don't call me len you little prick. Had me in stitches. One of the best comedies ever.
Right. Well done 🤣🤣 Bishop Brennan is a mad lad and can’t stand the priests
@@exempligratia101 brilliant
The more you watch them the more you realise you've missed, comedy at it's best.
@@exempligratia101 classic
"Oh, right. Well done." 😂
"You call me by my proper title you little bollocks!" Absolutely brilliant line
My favourite line
🎉😂
🎉😂
That line gets me every time! 😆
You address me by my proper title you little bollocks
"They're even coming from Gdansk to see the fillum."😂
Careful, now!
@@markhjones956 There’s Jack. Actually *watching* the filum!
Did you tell me that Jack had a trial for Liverpool? "No he was on trial in Liverpool" 😂
Apparently Jim Norton has never watched "Kicking Bishop Brennan Up the Arse" because it was it filmed so close to Dermot Morgan's passing and it made him upset.
I didn't even know Jimmy liked it
Jim Norton? That annoying American guy?
@@ReanimatorsMutilations No, the actor who plays Bishop Brennan
That’s true !! They had such a laugh making it that he can’t bear to watch it ever !!! Nice
So would Jim Norton be related to Grayham?? off to GOOGLE... BRB
Bishop Brennan was the best character ever.
Only just realising how good he was. Some of his lines are brilliant.
Naah he wasn't the best character.1.Father Ted was ultimate even though he is in title because he mould every joke right direction.
2.Bishop Brennan/Doodle
3.Father Jack
He's as good as Mr Burns in the '90s run of The Simpsons. Superb.
Pat musterd for me
Father Fintan Stack was a good secondary character.
"Nothing is your area, Crilly. You do not have an area, unless it's a kind of a play area with sandcastles and buckets and spades!"
Bit of foreshadowing from the Bishop...
I remember the first time I saw the scene where Ted jumps through the window, I almost passed out 😂
"But there's no toilet in here" might genuinely be the best line in the series.
"CRILLY!!"
Hello Len
“Who’d have thought someone from Limerick would get this far?” 😂
Up da Deise
Fair play to you, well done.
"Crilly, come here to me......... I hate you. So all that means _absolutely nothing_ to me."
Using the bishop’s hat to make sandcastles was a great touch
Ha ha, so many bits you miss or forget about,
It's called a birreta!
Father Ted's just a collection of golden comedy moments...😂🏴👍
So true.
Bishop Brennan might actually be my favourite character of all time! He’s terrifying and hilarious at the same time 😂
Jim Norton is brilliant!
He's my favorite Character
@@eilidhsomerville5554I can see why they based him on eamonn casey the deceased and disgraced former Bishop of galway. Plus micheal cleary
There is also a little bit of john Charles mcquaid in Bishop brennans arrogance, pomposity and his abusiveness
There is a rumour that Bishop len brennan was based on the late archbishop of Dronore
Father Jessup's sarcasm didn't pay off. Pleading with Mrs Doyle to rescue him from Jack's filthy underwear hamper and she just walks off! 😂
Well, Ted did tell her to do the opposite of what Fr. Jessup said...
"I'm really enjoying this!"
I live when the Bishop calls Ted's parish "The police academy." Hilarious.
@@WindTurbineSyndrome No. Referring to those comedy movies.
Does that make Bishop Brennan Captain Harris and Father Jessup is Sgt. Proctor?
Then Ted is Mahoney, Dougal is Fackler, Jack is Tackleberry and Mrs. Doyle is Hooks.
"There's you!! There's Forrest Gump!! And there's Jack!! Actually!! WATCHING THE FILM!"
FILLUM
14:21
Bishop Brennan: Right so what you have done is you have spread some caviar down there so I can get down on my hands and knees and eat it off the floor?!
Ted: Yes
😂🤣
What do you think I am crilly a PONY
One of my all time favourite comedies, along with Blackadder and Bottom, I have such good taste! Oh my word I've been seriously ill lately and I'd forgot to include League of Gentlemen, how could I forget this masterpiece.
You certainly have, mate.
Brilliant taste
One foot in the grave 😂
@@ss-kz9ee "I don't believe it!" Yes that was a great comedy.
Have you watched ‘This Country’ yet?
Absolute comedy gold!
"I'm a Bishop!" "Oh, Right, Well Done!" LOL
...But there's no toilet here...😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
An audience with Lily Savage, that was good aswell! Hilarious Dougal.
Norton is a *legend* - SO many roles
He was great in River, he seemed like a really affable guy and then it turns out he's a really nasty piece of work - once again it's discovered he had a secret child by someone watching a video of families of the beach.
"By the way - do you know how to make arrows?"..."well not to worry - it will come to you" in a soft reassuring voice.
30:42 Bye Bishop Brennan, WE LOVE YOU! 🤣
Your Grace? Your Grace?
I've always been keen on the following exchange:
Mrs Doyle (bowing fawningly): "Bishop Brennan, your car is parked outside"
Bishop Brennan: "I know it is, I parked it there myself"
Having been raised a Catholic it perfectly captures the fawning way in which women of a certain age would treat any member of the clergy, especially a bishop, as though they are some sort of higher being.
The funny thing is a Belgian professor told me Lord is Monseigneur in French. Called thou.
A bishop is also addressed as Monseigneur - called you. So a bishop is supposedly higher than God.
Bishop Brennan is a legend
*_"YOU ADDRESS ME BY MY PROPER TITLE, YA LITTLE BOLLOCKS!"_*
There was an Australian bishop called William Brennan strangely enough. Priest at 22, and founded schools and seminaries.
@@antster1983 Sorry Bishop Len Brennan!!
I love the way the Irish say filum 😊
We Scots sometimes do as well.
My Dad did. Irish.
Scousers do too.
I only just realised that the rest of the world were pronouncing it wrong
I'm from Wigan and I sometimes say fillum.
“I think you got the wrong number when you called there” Lol
This really is comedy gold
A marvellous performance.
Bishop Brennan is the best :) I hope one day I will be like him .. True inspiration :D
Lucky you glass of wine and partner in the bath!
I heard about this show over 20 years ago when this Irish couple at my Catholic church told me about it. This was before streaming so I found some DVDs and I exploded laughing every episode especially how liberal they were with language in Ireland and especially with the taboo themes in so many of the episodes.
I have a very good friend and neighbour, a devout Roman Catholic retired English lady who moved to Ireland almost twenty years ago. The first thing that shocked her was the "foul and disgusting" (her term) language of the ordinary Irish people and our love for that "blasphemous so called comedy Father Ted". She has since become accustomed to the language but not to the fact that nearly everyone in Ireland can quote whole episodes of Ted verbatim.
All these years later and it's rare a week goes by when we don't quote a line from father ted 😊
Bishop Brennan. A saintly man. 😂😂😂
Bishop - Don't call me Len you little prick! I'm a bishop! 😡
Father - Alright well done 👍🏻
Gets me every time lol 😂
Its up there as one of the best.we had so many good comedy's over the decades shame we will never see anything like this again.
The lights are on, but nobody's home. Truer words have never been said! 😂
Every scene with the Bishop is great. He was terrifying and hilarious at the same time. I guess he wasn't available for filming at the time but I've often wondered why he wasn't in the Christmas special where one of the priests he's over was recieving a prestigious award. There was a lot going on in that episode though so I don't know where he would have fit in.
Just to note, this video is missing 2 scenes. One where he asks Jack why he's not at "the fillum" while looking for his bag. Jack then reveals he has the bag. Another where he is on the plane after getting a good kick up the old b-o-t-t-y.
Jack and Ted fighting over the bottle at 11:20 🤣
"Of all Gods??!! What other Gods are there Crilly!!??" ".... F... False Gods!"
That picture of Jack on the poster with his thumbs up completely folds me, it’s so funny 🤣
absolute genius...x
Bishop Brennan is such a great character. Fun fact, Jim Norton was also Mr Mason in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
That landing is right out of Fawlty Towers.
Best character, did he call me Len again!!
You address him by his proper title,ya little bollocks!!
Len never really got over his brutal assault on his arse
You address me by my proper title, you little bollocks!
Ita always hard to feel hole again 😂
*up
Don't call him Len you little prick! He's a bishop!!
Jim Norton is brilliant. His reading of the Ulysses audio book is sublime.
He's also amazing as the antagonist priest in Ken Loach's Jimmy's Hall.
Arthur Mathews gives this a plug on the DVD commentaries. Or as he puts it, “I got through it listening to Jim.”
I recently found out he was in the Treacle People stop motion series.
"Watchin the filum" 😆 🤣 😂
Did he call me len again? Address me by my proper title
😂IM SIDE SPLITTING WITH LAUGHTER 😂
If anyone here is brave enough to be really be honest, might they not admit how such laugh out loud comedy can really bring out the dark side in all of us?
I love how mrs.Doyle treats the pope as an equal, teasing him and acting like he's a babbi
8:36 😂😂
Father Ted: Hello Father Ted Crilly Speaking.
Bishop Brennan: Crilly it’s me Bishop Brennan.
Father Ted: Oh Feck!! 🫢🫢
Bishop Brennan: What?!
Father Ted: Who is this? There is no Crilly here.
14:30 What do you think I am Crilly, a Pony? 🤣🤣🤣
If your looking for your wipers i have them in the kitchen 😂
The best prop in the history of the silver screen, jacks underpants hamper
The watercolor of the bishop on the skirting board always kills me! 😅
Curious to know what Bishop Brennan would’ve done if he saw Ted again after getting kicked up the arse 😂😂
He would cape
Up
Like a bit like that draclear
But he did.
@@MadHatter-s3t I knew that but I meant after the episode ended
Nuns are people too 😂😂😂
loved when the producer and writers wre asked if Len Brennan was like the actor...they said we have no idea when Len begins and the actor begins as hes terrifying
That scene at 28:00 had me rolling first time I watched 😂😂
Kinda wondered what it was like from the taxi driver's perspective with that cape in full flow
Also, despite Ted kicking him up the arse not his imagination playing tricks on him, do you think Len went on his holiday after all?
That 10x10 pic of the arsekicking couldn't have been cheap, I wonder who has it now?
11:51 "Oh there you are, Bishop Brennan"! I love when Mrs. Doyle says that whilst bowing down to Bishop Brennan! 🤣
Jim Norton is a great actor. Saw him in To Kill a Mockingbird in the west end a couple of years ago and met him for a brief moment afterwards. I remembered Ted’s “I don’t believe it” moment in “The Mainland”, so didn’t call him Len :)
28:43Its just that I can see another vision of you your grace the bits of fluff seem to be arranging themselves into some sort of bishop formation😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Bishop Brennans accent always amused me
Down with this sort of thing 😂 Genius writing by Graham Linehan
This would never be made now. Brilliant
because looney Right wings would never allow it
No, because word's they using offend's people
@@channelisomoWell that would be people with the hurty feelings.
Why would it not be made now? Try answering without using tired clichés.
That would be an ecumenical matter...
First time I saw that one, I couldnt breath from laughing so much, when the bishop was in shock all the way back to rome.
He did kick me up the arse !😅😅😅
Jack wakes up next to Len...
"Not that fecking blow up Bishop doll again!"
I was watching an episode of Frasier one time and I was pretty astounded that this guy appeared on screen lol
Think was playing a butler or something
He is in an episode of Cheers as well
Blimey they got the cast absolutely perfect for this unique comedy 🍀🍀 bishop Brennan was so believable in his role 👍👍✌️✌️🍀🙏
"what are ye looking at ?? HAAA??" 27:31
Oh right ' The Cuban lad'. 😂😂
I never saw it before, but (see at 3:16 ) Bishop Brennan is actually Darth Vader!!...
40YEARS FOR FATHER TED TO BE STILL SHOWING ON 3-4 CHANNELS TELL YOU ITS A TIMELESS CLASSIC. NEVER TURN FATHER TED OFF BECAUSE OF ITS COMICAL HUMOUR 😂😂😂😂😂😊 13:39 13:40
That is true. Been watching on TH-cam some of these people react to videos. Brilliant watching again with people that have never seen them.
Bishop Brennan is quite misunderstood. Ted is a thief or at least dishonest, Dougal is a potentially dangerous simpleton and Jack is a drunken letch all of which Len handles with great restraint as he kept the "Vatican out of it" and has given them an lovely island and a big house to live in.
Len is not blameless, fathered a child in America which loves and looks after, has intimate baths with nubiles but its all NORMAL behaviour I assure you. He has sympathy for Ted after he falls down the stairs, gives a car as a raffle prize and has a fear of rabbits.
It's not real..obviously it was made to make people laugh.
What would he have done if he found out Ted sabotaged the Rover that was donated for the raffle.
@@piledriverpotter9847 Probably sent him to be a missionary in the Cannibal isles.
... at the Church.
What would believing Cannabals have done to justify having FR Ted inflicted upon them
Hello bishop Brennan ...i think you got the wrong number when you called there.
For all Bishop Brennan likes to pretend that he's far more godly than Ted, at least Ted never broke the number 1 rule of priesthood: lifelong celibacy.
Im so so sorry- Father Hackett 😂😂😂😂
I miss the 90s for Gold like this
👍
My Irish Dad wrote my Mom from Bastogne during WWII, asking her to send him some "fillum." That was 1944.
Dougal and the Bishops. The best episode ever.
His comedic timing is perfect
From what i hear Father Dougal is going to be taking from Welby as head of church of england.
The head of the Church of England is the monarch.
@rse biscuits !
I've had my fun and thats all that matters 😂
"I didn't not kick you up the arse"
Brennan telling Ted that he doesn't care about him, but showing concern for him when he throws himself down the stairs 😅😅
the main thing that would get me up for school in the morning, peak mad lad humor
I like Bishop Brennan
Me too. Who among us wouldn't be like him if we had to constantly deal with those three idiots.
just a bad dream, your grace
I really like this program
As for this CABBAGE! You, Larry and Mo😂😂😂
OUR NATIONAL TELEVISION R.T.E TURNED FATHER TED .😂.BRAVO CHANNEL 4😊 4:15
You can see the Fawlty Towers influence in Ted trying to keep Len out of the bedroom.
I love those programs, have you ever seen the one with Elton John?
