Interesting, nice way to do that. Although if your going to so much trouble, do both seals, not just one of them. I suppose you would after replacing one side seal, temporarily install ring carrier, move adjuster back to original position, then unscrew other side adjuster one turn and repeat the steps again. OR you could just turn both adjusters back one turn at the beginning.

    • @silverstonespov5291

Sorry I don't have that video but the manual said: from zero play on the side bearings and then tighten 4 more hole on the adjusters. 2 on each side or depend on how much play between the pinion gear and the ring gear. I would mark the pinion shaft, the shaft nut before remove the nut to change the pinion seal. and mark both side on the side bearing adjuster and count the turn when taking it out. Hope this help

Should it be that tight if it's going back to original position? I know there's a $50 tool to turn the adjusters. What do you think might be going on?

My 2019 Ram Power Wagon 2500 front axle is leaking fluid in the same place as first shown in this video. 36700 miles. I do offroad it but I am not abusive in terms of speed or crashing into rocks. I am also pretty tame on the road and always do a check to make sure 4WD is disconnected before going from offroad to on road. Any input on why this leak would be happening at such low mileage? Not looking for the Ford/GM fanboy responses.
