The beginnings of learning are always difficult, you get used to the pronunciation and spelling. Fluency is gained with time of study. True ? Regards.

I am an spanish teacher. I have been teaching spanish at a Public Secondary School in Madrid for 29 years. I am trying to improve my english for cultural, social and tourist purposes. An excellent project, Luke! Reminds me a bit of the old Mary Underwood very special method - teaching English through stories (her course "What a story!"). If people can listen to Luke's stories and to understand them at the
same time, they don't need to learn English, they already know it. So, they simply can take any story they want and read it themselves. As to me I need slower reading, slower listening and slower explaining, I'm not able to catch everything Luke says and explains, only some words. I'd like to continue to listen to stories but it gives me nothing from point of learning except of enjoying listening English itself. Sorry to say it, but the idea of learning English with short stories is great. You can try write your own short story as well.

First of all, thanks for this amazing episode, it was fascinating!!! I did all my homework right after the video. I've been listening to your podcasts for a while; (not a long-term listener, though.) however, it was my first "premium" experience and it was very fruitful. (especially writing one of our own experiences based on a story was a great opportunity for getting out of a comfort zone :)
