What's pretty glaring in this video is that in every single shot Shawn Ray happens to be in, he's clearly the best. Not sure how he finished 4th. If anything, he probably deserved to win, just like he should have in 94.
I swear the last back pic of Yates where he he stomps a leg back and it makes a huge thud and chops his arms to the side Is quite possibly the most powerful pose ever in all of bodybuilding history and maybe future.
2:15 Shawn Ray is the last bodybuilder in the open class to do a decent front double bicep vacuum pose. He is perfection, but he's giving away 60lbs to Yates. The judges didn't have the guts to give it to Shawn. It took until 2018 for them to finally say "let's give it to the guy who looks best. Not the guy who is the biggest."

@@rockywaters9592 I'd say angle and resolution, I don't know where the photo comes from but yeah, it could be stretched so the competitor appears bigger. I wouldn't say it's photoshopped though, because his calves and traps really did look like that. Same shape and size. Nasser had freaky calves full of oil and they still weren't as big and shapely as Dorian's.
Yeah, I agree... but then look at 1:30, his wheels are on another level, he wins this pose, also 2:40 - he literally dwarfs Levrone, and is noticeably better than Dorian. Side chest at 5:10 - same story. When it comes to most muscular I would argue his crab pose is on par with Levrone - both are classic. I can understand why Dorian won, but Nasser was way better than Levrone that year IMO. But then, those contests are mainly about the back...
Bro where did you get the first picture on the right of dorian hitting the most muscular where he looks like a life sized fucking hulk! i need that to motivate me!
These type vids can be taken with a grain of salt since we know most of the time real life vs pictures can be totally different! Levrone looked soft compared to Dorian, at least in the pics.
8:16 Levrone with the insane trap insertions. Dorian looks horrible and blocky. Hes back might be dense but its ugly af anyway. This is bodybuilding not massbuilding. Urgh.
kevin never won olympia but his wild genetics in my opinion is what a man dreams if he had worked his legs and back more would have been the man of the 90s
dorian only wins 2 rear lat spread and back double bicep. Dorian has better lats, calves, forearms and conditioning. Levrone's conditioning isnt as good but has better chest, shoulders, arms, hamstrings and glutes, traps/upper back..... and he wins 5-2 in poses. Levrone is the uncrowned mr olympia 2-3 times and nassar should of won in 97. Dorian should only have been a 3-4 time mr.O
Yates obviously a legend but a Mr. Olympia shouldn't look that bad in a most muscular pose. I know he was dominant in a lot of mandatory poses but Geez if his standing relaxed is that bad and if the most muscular is the last pose the judges make them hit and he looks really really really bad I don't get how they place him first.
Whats the heavy dislike ratio for? Shawn should have won in my opinion. He has the perfect combination of completeness, aesthetics, posing and conditioning
That dislikes pour in any time it's a close contest, no matter who I choose. Saw the same thing for 94. In this one you have two of the most beloved bodybuilders of all time in Levrone and Yates, so I suspect it would've been just as ugly if not worse if I gave it to Levrone lol
what I love about the 90s is they had that size, detail and conditioning while still maintaining a level of aestheticism. like people rave on about comparing the golden era, with todays bubble guts but thats a stupid comparison because golden era had WAAY less muscle. 90s bodybuilders still had a lot of size not as much though, while mainting an appealing look.
i mean lets be real some of the smaller golden age guys like frank zane are in a similar tier to an advanced fitness model/ mens physique guy in terms of muscular development.
Again, you just have to hold the 1990s as the the most incredible decade for body building. Yates set it all going and the rest went with him big time. Absolutely amazing physiques in number. It’s right to say that Levrone and Ray had the most symmetrical and body beautiful physiques and it’s a shame they wearing rewarded for it (Wheeler included). But despite that, every time you look at Yates body it just looks like he has been chiselled out of granite by a comic book artist. You can’t take your eyes off him.
I feel like it's fairly well established that Kevin owns side chest and Yates owns side triceps but you went the other way in your analysis which was supported OK but not good enough IMO. Although, Yates got destroyed in the hands clasped and Kevin did look damn good in the front lat spread. Thanks for the vid
In the end of the day Shawn Ray should have won this competiton (and not only this one). Perfect aesthetics, conditioning, mass-symmetry ballance. Literally no flaw whatsoever.
fdb kevin fl dorian sc kevin st kevin bdb dorian bl dorian abs kevin mm kevin ye i think that kevin should won atleast 1 olympia this was good chance for kevin cuz his back was best in 95.
Kevin is such a waister potential, he had much better genetic potential than Dorian. But Dorian was in his gym all year while Kevin was singing in his studio. Yates wins this show, not even close. Kevin had traps just as good as Dorian, but his lats did not exist from the back. He probably didn't even know how to train them. He was also much softer, and this was one of the better conditionings he brought to the stage. He was better from the front, but from the side? Common, Dorian had 1 extra layer of thickness on him. Even his delts looked bigger and the triceps looked just as impressive. I disagree with the side chest, DOrian's bad muscle bellies don't fill the pose, but he wins the side triceps (barely) and easily wins the abs and thighs. Much crisper abs, boing 747 lats and great cuts on legs. In this pose, his detail beats the Levrone's roundness. Kevin only had a smaller waist, which doesn't do it for me. He probably didn't even train his abs and barely trained his legs
Srbenda126 Your right. Kevin was a genetic freak and was a part time, lazy bodybuilder. He was in the gym half the year like Flex and no matter how genetically blessed you are, you can be out worked! It’s a shame Kevin and Flex never reached their full potential where as Dorian squeezed out every inch of potential from his physique. That’s what being a champion is all about!
I've always found the veins on Dorian's right arm quite off-putting really and it would look much more pleasing to the eye if they were less noticeable or a bit tidier looking, especially as he seems to only have them on the one arm and so it doesn't even look symmetrical with the eye often bring drawn to them.
Laszlo Gq it's not all about size, sure, but it's also not ALL about definition, if it was all about size, Nassar would win. If it was all about definition, Shawn would win. But that's not how it's judged. I agree with the judges without any argument in this competition.
Dorian’s conditioning was always on point. He outworked everyone & that’s how he won. If we judged mainly on pretty physiques, Melvin Anthony, Lionel Beyeke, Cedric McMillan & Patrick Moore would have higher placings. Dorian’s conditioning was just on another level from the rest. I don’t even see the comparison of Levrone & Dorian in 95. It’s an easy 1-2 for me.
The thing with Kevin in these photos is he's always standing in front of the line which makes him look a lot bigger than he actually was, when standing next to Dorian
I thought Kevin looked fantastic in 94. Especially with Dorian and the bicep issue. Not taking anything away from Shawn though. Tough call between Shawn and Kevin.
Levrone is one of my top 5 bodybuilder of all time but he looks soft and undefined in most these pics..i dont know if its because he stands next to one of the best conditioned guys in history or if its the resolution of the pictures or if he just was off?

Levrone is the uncrowned mr olympia 2-3 times and nassar should of won in 97. Dorian should only have been a 3-4 time mr.O
Yates obviously a legend but a Mr. Olympia shouldn't look that bad in a most muscular pose. I know he was dominant in a lot of mandatory poses but Geez if his standing relaxed is that bad and if the most muscular is the last pose the judges make them hit and he looks really really really bad I don't get how they place him first.
At first glance I was like oh shit what is early Rolley Winklars doing there @5:36
Whats the heavy dislike ratio for?
Shawn should have won in my opinion. He has the perfect combination of completeness, aesthetics, posing and conditioning
That dislikes pour in any time it's a close contest, no matter who I choose. Saw the same thing for 94. In this one you have two of the most beloved bodybuilders of all time in Levrone and Yates, so I suspect it would've been just as ugly if not worse if I gave it to Levrone lol
kevin wins
Am I the only one noticing that in all the pics kevin looks 2 inches taller than yates ? Yates is listed at 5'10" and levrone like 5'8"..
Dorian's side triceps is unbeatable also
I personally think Nasser looked better in these shots.
what I love about the 90s is they had that size, detail and conditioning while still maintaining a level of aestheticism. like people rave on about comparing the golden era, with todays bubble guts but thats a stupid comparison because golden era had WAAY less muscle. 90s bodybuilders still had a lot of size not as much though, while mainting an appealing look.
i mean lets be real some of the smaller golden age guys like frank zane are in a similar tier to an advanced fitness model/ mens physique guy in terms of muscular development.
I dont agree with u, levrone is the king of side chest pause
i have never understood while people prefer crazy vascularity. Guess it's subjective.
Nasir alsonbaty smoked them both in the pictures
Again, you just have to hold the 1990s as the the most incredible decade for body building. Yates set it all going and the rest went with him big time. Absolutely amazing physiques in number. It’s right to say that Levrone and Ray had the most symmetrical and body beautiful physiques and it’s a shame they wearing rewarded for it (Wheeler included). But despite that, every time you look at Yates body it just looks like he has been chiselled out of granite by a comic book artist. You can’t take your eyes off him.
Yea check out the pic at 15:00 of Yates. Mind blowing!
Looked like this comparison should be between Levrone and Shawn Ray lol. Dorian looked like a mess.
you're so full of shit lmao
Well I'll be damned! What the hell is going on here?!
as much as i liked Kevin he never was complete. AND Yates was gifted a few wins..
For me Nasser was more packed massive compared to Yates, same with Ferrigno.
Kevin won front double bicep thats it. The most muscular didnt count back then. The Shadow wins every other pose.
Ok fanboy
I think Ray should have won that day. He was the most complete builder, with mass, defenition and symmetry
In the end of the day Shawn Ray should have won this competiton (and not only this one). Perfect aesthetics, conditioning, mass-symmetry ballance. Literally no flaw whatsoever.
2:25 we can all see a monster in the back
IMO Dorian Yates was one of the weakest Olympia champions that we have ever seen. So he was BIG. His proportions and symmetry was SHIT.
For me, Dorian's arm tears rendered him null and void for the title(s). I look at pictures and wince.
Levrone all the way.
fdb kevin
fl dorian
sc kevin
st kevin
bdb dorian
bl dorian
abs kevin
mm kevin
ye i think that kevin should won atleast 1 olympia this was good chance for kevin cuz his back was best in 95.
Kevin takes only FDB. MM was not a mandatory pose back then
Kevin is such a waister potential, he had much better genetic potential than Dorian.
So happy that the arnold impression intro's are history.
broken body parts and bloted stomach...last place period.......shawn ray first place complete and friky Christmas trees thigh separation....
Laszlo Gq it's not all about size, sure, but it's also not ALL about definition, if it was all about size, Nassar would win. If it was all about definition, Shawn would win. But that's not how it's judged. I agree with the judges without any argument in this competition.
In every shot, I preferred Kevin.
Dorian Yikes lol
Kevin levrone the best
But most muscular wasn't mandatory back then was it?
Dorian’s conditioning was always on point. He outworked everyone & that’s how he won. If we judged mainly on pretty physiques, Melvin Anthony, Lionel Beyeke, Cedric McMillan & Patrick Moore would have higher placings. Dorian’s conditioning was just on another level from the rest. I don’t even see the comparison of Levrone & Dorian in 95. It’s an easy 1-2 for me.
The uncrowned Mr Olympia in the background Shawn Ray.
Dorian and Kevin? Nassar is the guy you should be talking about
3:11 the other 2 look like amateurs next to Nassar
what the fuck kevin is the master of side chest
Levroni diserv to win Mr.olympia
The thing with Kevin in these photos is he's always standing in front of the line which makes him look a lot bigger than he actually was, when standing next to Dorian
Kevin had less torn body parts and better shape overall
8:55 it's from 94 not 95 tommy
The battle of Yates and Levrone.. Front double biceps : Nasser own that pose😂
14:08 ronnie colemans i don wanna say smoking him but beats him and u forgot about samer bannout
Nobody could beat Yates at his best only 1997 was questionable
I thought Kevin looked fantastic in 94. Especially with Dorian and the bicep issue. Not taking anything away from Shawn though. Tough call between Shawn and Kevin.
Levrone is one of my top 5 bodybuilder of all time but he looks soft and undefined in most these pics..i dont know if its because he stands next to one of the best conditioned guys in history or if its the resolution of the pictures or if he just was off?
