Hey chief, you answered several of my questions about the Slim. It's one that has caught my fancy real quick! Upgrades for me would be: 1.) The seat😵, I will need something better for long rides. 2.) The tires🏍️, Metzler ME888 marathon wide white wall tires. Vintage, classic & gorgeous!👍 3.) Saddle bags and a better horn-124 decibel sound-bomb horn. 4.) Love that red color! Billiard red-stunning beyond words!😁 I'm glad I came across your video presentation, keep up the great video work-it'll take no time at all to master the craftsmanship of a great job. You're well on your way to that standard.😁👍🏍️ Doug
A great video. When I was at the dealership I met your friend. Knowledgeable. Kind. Just great people at that dealership. This comparison videos ares are great. Please krrp making them.
Good comparison. It is all about personal preferences what you will finally choose. Both are great bikes. I bought my Fatboy 2018 April , and I love it. Before that, I always saw a guy in the neighborhood with his Slim , that Military-look bike with the white star on the gas tank , and it looks great. Talking to him he was absolutely happy with this bike . I’m from Europe (Germany but living and working in Spain) , and I’m 193 cm tall ...6.33 ft I guess . Most of my friends telling me that I’m to tall for a Harley, and I should ride a BMW 🤢. I don’t care ... I’ m simply enjoying that Harley feeling , that no other bike can give to me ( and I owned other bikes before I bought my first HD 12 years ago , Road King) It’s all a matter of what you do prefer. There are always things to complain about, or advantages that one bike ore the other bike may have. Leaning ancle... if you’re a curve ripper , get yourself a Kawasaki .
I have the 2018 Fat Boy Anniversary 114. Absolutely, love it; just bought the Road Glide Limited; but would not get rid of the Fat Boy. It handles great, of course you have to ride the bike and not let the bike ride you. Agree with the wind doesn't affect the bike.
I bought a used 2018 fatboy with 114 with vance and hines big Radius exhaust arlen Ness 65 deg air cleaner I've had it 10 months and as it's winter in the ne I'm putting a SS 128 big bore kit in it and a ss 475 cam and a dynojet powervision tuner it's going to be awesome
Bought a new '21 Softail Slim 2 wks ago. I too was looking at the Fatboy, but after watching and reading many reviws, I chose the Slim. The fact that the Fatboy is more work to turn, I didn't want to deal with that. The slim, as stated in this review, is much better with that respect. Plus, I ordered the Sundowner seat from Harley, which makes for a more comfortable journey on any long rides.
I got the Slim, since the dealership did not have in stock a Fat Boy. I should have waited and sought out the Fat Boy. Now my dealership now has the 2021 Fat Box in stock. I took my Slim to Stage 2 and was considering Stage 3 later this year. Oh well ... live and learn.
I would really like the explanation for how you feel like that the Fatboy is a more comfortable ride than the slim. Is the shock a better quality? Doesn't a low profile tire ride harder? I definitely prefer the Fatboy but I find it hard to believe that an insignificant length difference would make a dominant difference.
Thank you so much for this video I'm in the market for one of the other and it's a hard decision which 1 I want to buy this month for Christmas thank you and happy New Year

I have the 2020 slim I put aps on it and it definitely became one of my favorite looking bikes. At a 107 it really has a lot of power and it’s stock with slips at the moment. I’ll be getting my full stage 1 and tune soon and looking forward to that. I wish I had F-U money and just buy every Harley. Because I’d love to go out and by that fat boy tomorrow then the low rider s than the road king special lol. But the slim is a beast and it looks absolutely sick. In my opinion great video man ride safe ✌️

The higher the number on lean angle the farther the bike will lean over. Slim has a better lean angle. Also the Slim has more sidewall which helps to soften the ride compared to the low sidewalls on the FatBoy. The spoke wheels are required to run tubes which is a disadvantage over the tubeless tires on the FatBoy. The tire cost and wear advantage also goes to the Slim. Most people set it for how they ride and don't have to adjust it again. It is more of a factor if you are always changing how much of a load you have on your bike. Looks is a factor that has to be decided by every individual, since everyone has different taste. Also some people prefer black or chrome more. I have an 18 Heritage 114 and I love it. Stage 1 and I often get 55 M.P.G. when cruising backroads. Highway speeds does drop it down some. Definitely love the new Softail chassis.

I suppose it depends on a few things. What overall look r u going for and what sort of ride position r u looking for vs your height. Initially I ran a total of 8" rise bars on my '19 Slim to try and maintain atleast a little of the traditional styling and to keep cost low (not having to buy cable and wire extensions). The riding position wasn't great so I switched to 12" bars on the factory risers. It made the ergos great but it also changes the look of the bike alot, which grew on me and I ended up liking.
The tires on the slim will handle much better when going into turns . They also will absorb shock from potholes much better than the low profile tires that are on the Fatboy .
First of all, nice beard! Second, I’m kinda new to motorcycles and compared to the car world it seems the average height is a bit...less. Don’t take it the wrong way, just curious! Is it just me or is that a real thing? 😅
Ya know, Most the bikers I associate with seem to be of shorter stature, ha ha. I dunno that its a real thing, maybe, but I've met several bikers on the taller side too. Weird tho, now that you got me thinkin about it.
Checkout this video I did with Mykah Dean of Dean Speed Customs. He's riding a 2019 Softail Street Bob and he also owns a 2020 Softial Street Bob. th-cam.com/video/spm7m5F0yRU/w-d-xo.html He's 6'1" tall. If he fits this well on a Street Bob with mids, im sure ull fit great on a Slim with forwards.
@@dionalaniz3195 I highly recommend u ride one before buying. I did another, more recent video where I took one out for the first time. That wide rear wheel makes for an interest ride. It didn't change opinion of the killer aesthetics of the bike though.

The only thing that really throws me off is the slim rear tire, without which a slim would be the absolute winner. What's the widest rear tire that can be fit in the Slim without changing anything else?
I checked with Rob, who was the one speaking in this video and he said generically speaking, 1 size on most harleys. I went and looked at my Slim and it appears to have plenty of room for more than one size up.
Kept waiting for the part where you RIDE the bikes. If I hear "has that classic bobber look" one more time, Imma scream. And FYI, despite the mantra repeated over and over, this really looks nothing like a WWII Harley (called a WHA-42). When the gov't sold off the bikes after the war, vets and motorcycle enthusiasts snapped them up and chopped off all the extra crap to make the bike lighter (better mileage and performance). So the WWII-style bikes to first make a splash among bikers was in the 1950s was the CHOPPER, not the bobber.
Why...just why? Waste of time and energy. I'm in Tucson and to me it comes down to dealership. Not the bike. Tucson dealers are owned by RIDENOW. I went to Phoenix to get my slim..in the crate. Complete dealer B.S. You seem to trust and put faith into the dealer and not the bike. Stick with what you know.
Fat Boy is seriously one of the best stock looking motorcycles ever made. I can't wait to get one.

The lean angle is measured from the vertical, so therefore the Slim has the advantage. Bigger angle = more lean.

I had a 2018 fat boy 114. I traded it in for a street bob. I needed more fun and maneuverability on the street the fat boy didn't give me.
big girl wouldnt let you BOND to her, some people cant handle the big girls hahaha
what handlebars would you put on a 2005 softail slim s
I suppose it depends on a few things. What overall look r u going for and what sort of ride position r u looking for vs your height. Initially I ran a total of 8" rise bars on my '19 Slim to try and maintain atleast a little of the traditional styling and to keep cost low (not having to buy cable and wire extensions). The riding position wasn't great so I switched to 12" bars on the factory risers. It made the ergos great but it also changes the look of the bike alot, which grew on me and I ended up liking.
I would love to see the Slim with the Fatboy seat ...
I bet that would look great!
The tires on the slim will handle much better when going into turns . They also will absorb shock from potholes much better than the low profile tires that are on the Fatboy .
I love my slim,
beautiful bikes.
Weird tho, now that you got me thinkin about it.
do you think any of these bikes are good for someone who is 6.3 ? I'm keen on the slim but not sure it would fit!
Checkout this video I did with Mykah Dean of Dean Speed Customs. He's riding a 2019 Softail Street Bob and he also owns a 2020 Softial Street Bob. th-cam.com/video/spm7m5F0yRU/w-d-xo.html
He's 6'1" tall. If he fits this well on a Street Bob with mids, im sure ull fit great on a Slim with forwards.
May be late to the convo:
I’m 6’4”, 260 pounds. Have the 2020 Slim and handles fantastic. No issues with seat, power, or handling. Recommend highly!
Hey guys I’m coming back to riding after 23 years. What bike should i
Start out with?
The street bob and the slim are both really good ways to get back into motorcycling
@@aztriumphster thank you
I love. The fat boy.
@@dionalaniz3195 have u ridden one before?
@@aztriumphster I rode a my buddies 1200 a few times this year.
My son in law has the 2019
Silver fat boy and I love it. He won’t let me ride it yet.
@@dionalaniz3195 I highly recommend u ride one before buying. I did another, more recent video where I took one out for the first time. That wide rear wheel makes for an interest ride. It didn't change opinion of the killer aesthetics of the bike though.
Good job 👍
Do u have a video how to install the pegs on ur slim
The passenger pegs? I have a q&a video i did some time ago that addresses the passenger pegs
AZ Triumphster installation video?? HD where I bought the bike are trying to charge me $200 to install the pegs and peg bracket. Apparently it’s easy
@@JustAnotherReviewwithAlek what bracket and peg set did u buy?
AZ Triumphster the basic. Here is the product code if this helps

Ill take a look and see what insight i can give u to help save u a couple hundred bucks.
are the tires tubeless in slim?
Thats a good question. I actually don't know offhand but im going to reach out to someone right now and find out
They have tubes
The only thing that really throws me off is the slim rear tire, without which a slim would be the absolute winner. What's the widest rear tire that can be fit in the Slim without changing anything else?
I checked with Rob, who was the one speaking in this video and he said generically speaking, 1 size on most harleys. I went and looked at my Slim and it appears to have plenty of room for more than one size up.
@@aztriumphster Softail slim comes with 150 from factory. So would 160 be considered a size up?
@@AnirudhSharma9211 I would think so but still I think there is room for more than a 160
Screwed up by not putting the badge on the Fatboy. Not happy about that
Assallammualikum halo mr. Im from indonesia

I'm getting the Slim
Like right now???
@@aztriumphster LOL. I wish! But this summer hopefully
“Vs.”? Why “Vs.”?
Where does the name slim come from??

How tall Are you?
both of the handsome gentlemen in this video are about 5' 5" tall
Love me my Slim. :)
Very nice
FATBOY ❤ I have one and won't part with it.
Not fair comparison fat boy is a Bagger line youth will think slim Riders will think Fat Boy 240 me im none of this but i go Fat
