    I live in Switzerland. Back in 1991 I bought my brandnew Fatboy. Same model and color like the one Arnie is riding in Terminator. I still got this bike and I am riding this beauty every season, with my Lady on the backseat. I‘m 52 now and this Harley is part of my life since almost 30 years. That’s really something special for me. We made so many nice trips all around europe. Ride safe guys!

      Hi Daniel! I do live in CH too and ride the passes with my 2018 Fatboy. We are lucky to live in a beautiful country with a lot of variation on the street types. Enjoy your FB. If you come to Ticino we may meet… I’ll look out for the Terminator riding around😜

      I'm all crazy for Fatboy but still keeping a distance due to bike weight and low riding position, just my inner fear.
      Any major engine or transmission problems during the thirty years?

    Liking the style is about personal taste. I love the new Fatboy and fell in love with the front light. For me this is the most beautiful motorcycle ever designed. As said, it’s a matter of personal taste, but I love the combination of traditional and modern design. The handling with the new Metzeler tiers is fantastic. Day and night in compare to the original Michelin tiers. Like your videos, keep the good work up!

    I went straight into my 2020 Harley Fat Boy 114 and I don't know how the older bikes handle, but so far, I'm getting used to mine just fine.

      @gemini232003 My 4 friends who have smaller Harleys (Low Rider, Wide Glide, FortyEight, and a Breakout) say that my bike feels lighter than theirs' because of the fat tires distributing weight.

    • @raby760
      @raby760 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @gemini232003 I looked up the weight of some of the older Fat Boys and found they weigh less. I guess it depends on what year are the old ones I'm comparing it to. Perhaps not the 1991 T2 version, but I should have compared it to some of the models around 2010.

    • @raby760
      @raby760 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @gemini232003 I remember his channel. I also remember him and his friends getting butthurt when the cops pulled them over for breaking the law. I stopped following him after that video.

    • @raby760
      @raby760 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @gemini232003 It's one thing to get a ticket for speeding and know you made a mistake. It's another thing to blame the cop, which is what that guy did, while they were breaking the law on a public road. Matt is an anti-cop moron. But yeah, I know that wasn't what you were referring to. It's just every time someone mentions him, I remember that video of his.

    • @raby760
      @raby760 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @gemini232003 In the case of Matt, he was with a group where they were riding and breaking the law, the friend was pulled over, the cop was in the right and acting in a concerned manner about safety. Matt acted like a candy-ass. I can't stand people like that. Just admit the wrong-doing, be polite, move on, and if you want, do it again, get in trouble again, but don't blame the cop.

    Just a note of correction. The fatboy is a military themed bike. From the bullet holes in the rims to the molding on the tank. The name Fatboy is a combination of the 2 bombs dropped unfortunately on japan. FATman and littleBOY are where it got its name. At the time HD was sick of Japanese bikes emulating the various HD models. Regardless of what the PC-minded execs say, that is how it got its name. admitting this today would be like running old episodes of All in the Family. The hyper-sensitive social media generation would flip their lids. I Enjoyed your video very much. Carry on

    Totally agree on the 2015 style being better. I've got a 2015 and wouldn't trade it for the new one even though it sounds like the engine upgrades on the M8 are great.

    Heel toe story. My first experience with a heel toe, I was basically ideling out of a gas station onto the street, threw my boot up on the board, heel banged the shifter into 2nd,, chuga chuga,boom, down goes Frazier. I learned a lesson that day to be aware of that thing.

    You are spot on Jerry, The Fat Boy was the best looking motorcycle Harley ever made. I had a 1995 Heritage Nostalgia, ( FLSTN) with basically the same paint scheme. I removed the small bags, and except for the wire wheels, you couldn't tell the difference. beautiful machine and Always got lots of glances. Finally sold it in 2016 for a much needed upgrade to a "modern" Street Glide.

Knew i wanted a Fat Boy and got so close to pulling the trigger on the 120th anniversary edition Fat Boy but then i just fell in love with the older style and since it was my 1st Harley, i wanted to keep it traditional. This video helped with that decision so now im the very proud owner of a 2017 Fat Boy S which is completely blacked out!! Love it! Thank you for your videos

    Don't take this as an attack on your opinion, but I'll be the advocate for those like me who actually like the styling of the 2020, and yes, I own one and I LOVE IT. BTW, the Victory you mentioned was the "Hammer", it also had a 240 rear tire.
    I've had a Breakout, a Street Glide, a Fat Bob and now I have a 2020 Fat Boy. For me, it's my favorite out of all of them. It rides the best, handles GREAT and is just a blast to ride. I love the styling. If you don't good for you. If you think Harley "ruined" it, maybe that's true for you, but it isn't for me and a lot of other people.
    It took Harley FOREVER to live up to the name of the bike and actually put an actual Fat Tire on the back. They should have done that years ago. Another interesting thing is that the guys at the local dealer openly talk badly about the Fat Boy. It's like they don't want to sell them at all. I had one guy tell me "Oh those things handle terribly, you'll hate it, they are only slightly better handling than the Breakout"... As mentioned, I actually started my Harley journey with a Breakout. I actually did hate the way that bike handled. When I rode the Fat Boy, I was blown away at how well it rode. The low center of gravity, once you get used to it, it a piece of cake to ride. I can pull a U-Turn without any trouble (thanks in part to your techniques, I bought your video).
    In closing: I've bought and sold bikes as I've changed jobs and moved, etc. Now that I have this 2020 Fat Boy, I hope I never have to sell it. I love this bike.

      @@motorman857 Sure. Fair enough and to each his own. Nobody likes everything. To me the older model was dated and due for an update and deserved a fatter tire. I like the bobbed fender. I am 50/50 on the headlight trim, but I don't dislike it. Either way. Thank you for what you do. I am a better rider because of you!

    Great review, i think that the new fatboy looks just new, but the old style is an endless bike (the look) you got so many accesories or parts if you want to change it (tires to 300) nacelle, auxiliary lights etc..., hd did a good job on the chassis with the mono shock and that is all 4 me. Old style stand above.

    Great video. I have a 2015 Fatboy and wouldn’t part with it. The styling is beautiful. The bike Harley brought out in 2018 and called the Fatboy isn’t a Fatboy to me. I just can’t deal with the headlight and rear fender. Actually the whole styling of the bike seems wrong to me. I also have a 2018 Road King with the 107 Milwaukee 8 and she is a beauty. Love the Milwaukee 8 but I also love my Twin Cam 103 Fatboy. I think if Harley provided some way to ditch that headlight maybe I could warm to it. As far as I know you are stuck with it.

    The difference between the 2016 Fatboy and the 2016 Heritage feel while riding is because of the different tire size. Front 140 vs. 130 and back 200 vs. 150

    The Fat Boy name came from a legal battle with Japan over import and export issues. Harley Davidson won the legal battle. On August 9, Harley introduced the fat boy, Painted Black and yellow to match the colors of the bomb dropped on 8-4-1945. Later the wheels had holes around the perimeter, these holes represent the 50 caliber machine-gun bullet holes, the weapon the B-29 Box Car used to protect itself

    Good video and a solid overview of both bikes. I own a 2015 Fatboy and it is a great looking bike. It is also the least comfortable bike I have ever ridden and that is saying something considering my 1999 FXDX is running a thin Badlander seat. Although the 2015 looks great, in my opinion the newer Fatboy looks better. The overall stance, the larger wheels (18" vs the older 17") and the thicker front end give it a power cruiser look that I like. I think my 2015 will get traded for a Street Glide soon.

    I don’t like the new Fatboy either. Oddly the New Fatboy came out right after the killing off of the VRod. What actually happened was a redesigned VRod , the Fatboy was actually the bike that was killed off, but the name was takin. This new version says VRod Not Fatboy. I agree Jerry, the original Fatboy was the most beautiful Harley ever made! The new version? I’d rather ride a Yamaha to be honest, and do! Oh by the way, I have a 2012 Fatboy Lo, and from the looks of the new one, I will keep mine.

    I think I'd rather have the blue...is it a heritage ?... in the background.

    I just bought the 2014 Fatboy. I do like the shorter fender on the new Fatboy. I don't like the headlight on the new Fatboy.

    I also prefer the 2015 Harley Fat Boy as it has the classic round headlight and fatter rear guard as you said. Looks so much better styling. Reminds me of the Terminator 2 movie bike 🏍️

    I’ll take either, iDepends on my wallet, but as far as styling that subjective , the new FB’s have a more aggressive styling and the older a more subtle cool styling, but I do think the fatter rear tire does affect turning / cornering a bit

    i agree with you . the older fatboys look the part , the new model should be called boulevard boy or something , as they are nice but are styled different ..my choice would be the new m8 slim or a 103 fatboy , what do you think ???

    Do you think an Indian scout is more faster than an iron 1200?

    • @motorman857
      @motorman857  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Scout would have more horse power. The Sportster 1200 more torque down low thus, it will feel faster. Personally, I'd take a Triumph Bobber over either the Sporty or the Indian.

    Have to agree on the styling, rear fender & the front lamp to me has a Japanese plastic faring look. I like the lamps heritage old school. styling.

    Hey MotorMan, I think there are many out there like myself that is looking at 2007 to 2012 HD's as that is the price point we can afford.
    Would like to hear your thoughts on the good, bad and whatever on what to run from and what to jump on when we go to pull that trigger.
    I am looking at full dress touring and/or ...
    Thoughts....info video maybe??

    The original fatboy in 1990 - and for several years after that - did not have a fat rear tire or fender . . . so it was unlikely to have been called 'fatboy' for having a fat rear fender.

  • @rogermurph101

    Both look good, but the new models look so much better. I hate the look of full fenders, front or rear. The wheels, the fenders, the tank emblems, everything on the new Fat Boy looks better. After 27 years, it was time for an update.

    I love the power of the 114; the 103, on a Fat Boy, didn't excite me (at all.) The new model is great, but I think the front end is ugly.

    Yeah the friction is almost to full release. So the modified lever would be a world of difference.
    Back in the 90’s my friend had the 1991 Fat Boy at it was the Harley that got noticed on the street.

    I recently sold my 2022 Fatboy and bought a 2016 Fatboy S. To me the look of it is not even close. I can't get around the front end of the newer Fatboy - can't stand it. The Fatboy S completely blacked out, using the Fatboy Lo frame and with the 110 Screaming eagle engine, just looks and sounds like a Fatboy should to me.

    • @motorman857
      @motorman857  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No. While they are both examples of a vintage styled American heavy weight cruiser, they are different in appearance and feel, from each other as I stated in the above video.

    I still don't get this "moan" about the slow speed turn. The Fatboy was my first ever Harley purchase and zero complaints to date. Turns how I'm comfortable with turning and i am coming from a speed bike. The old Fatboy is ugly to me, the only thing I like about it is the headlight
