Just want to let you know sir that because of your videos i achieved 72/80 In each Language Paper for mocks and i used to get 2s before so just want to thank you.. Such an Inspiration you really are
Hello sir, I would like to express my appreciation for your videos and amazing teaching. Your videos on language paper 2 helped me achieve 69/80 in my mock, a grade 9, when I was stuck at grade 7/8 for the whole year. Thank you!
@Mr Salles Teaches English So just to confirm on the structure... You do OTTER for the first (favourite) poem, Then about 3 sentences to compare both, Then do OTTER again for the other poem, Then a conclusion.
2:56 Year 9 I vividly remember having to do a poetry end of term exam, but it was right after a had a school show. I was extremely burnt out, and sat there “is it a metaphor, is it an alliteration” I went through everything and put “a skill” by the end of the essay, I changed that to “imagery.”
Thank you for letting me know how many paragraphs I should write to get good grades. I used to write a lot of long paragraphs, but still only got average grades. Now, I don't write such long paragraphs anymore and I got an 8.
thanks for your help, i got 72/80 in my english lang mocks and 40/40 in my paper 2 section b question,I cannot SUPERTHANK you enough!!!, hopefully I will be able to replicate these in my gcse's
Thank you sir on my last language paper two mock I got 74/80 thanks to your videos, have my literature mock after half term and am hoping for a similar result then!
Sir, I do have a question, do you have a video going through all the structure forms and explained, such as caesura, iambic pentameter tetrameter when related to poems? If you have then can you link it in the comments
Excellent method i just have two questions for my mock tomorrow: 1. Should i write a thesis 2. When im writing about the second poem do i just write about it like i did the first one or do i compare with the other one?
Hi Sir, I have a question so we do OTTER then the comparision like you did in Exposure and bayonet charge then you do the other poem with OTTER again ? Thank you
Will this structure also work for the Love and Relationships Section of poetry? Also does it matter if you decide to start with your other poem first rather than the poem given to you?
@Mr Salles Teaches English Where is context meant to be in this though? Should I just do a couple PEACE paragraphs instead of the two 'T's (which stand for technique)?
There is no real requirements for context in this question. The context is the poem itself. For example, if you know that exposure is written about Owens experience in the First World War, that’s half of sentence, and is all the contacts you need.
Hey sir! Could i apply this to the WJEC examination board? And could i use this technique for unseen poetry too. Thank you for everything. I’ve only recently discovered your channel and despite you doing AQA normally i still use your videos because they’re so informative and useful i just wish i’d found it before rather than now since it’s so close up to the exams. I hope i can still make a difference in my literature
Hi Sir, im a bit confused. Is it One OTTER paragraph, which will overall cover ONE point. and then continue doing this. Or will OTTER cover the whole answer?
i have so many questions how would u write about language form and structure in one OTTER paragraph and how many paragraphs would u write and how would u compare the two poems at the end
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish Thank you! I was very happy with the paper bc I got Peckham Rye Lane!! I compared it with island man and that went really well, thank you for the video it was so helpful!
Does this still work if you do, like 4/5 paragraphs on one poem, answering the question, then do another 4/5 paragraphs on the second poem and compare similarities/differences of each section of the previous one? I did this today and it didn’t look right for me 😂
can they repeat a poem.. like the question is always smth like ~describe the relationship~ so they cant rlly change the question.. (do i rlly hv to learn ALL these 15 stupid poems 😭)
If I study 4 poems really well as well as the other 11 poems and then memorise those couple of comparative sentences for the comparisons between poems within each theme (just as I would memorise the thesis statement for the other texts), do you think I would get a grade 9?
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish So would it come down to depth/ perceptiveness of language structure and form analysis, context and then linking to the poet's purpose?

Just about to plan and write an essay for poetry! Just in time.
would you recommend doing the 3 sentences of comparison at the beginning as an introduction?
@Mrsallesteachesenglish. How do you talk about the opening.i am a bit confused. Do i talk about how it captures the reader or idk

1.Yes
2.No
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish Thank you, could you make some more videos on love and relationship poetry if possible sir?

Hey, just wondering do I have to do a thesis statement as well before I start the first otter?
A one sentence thesis statement is desirable, but not essential.
@MrSallesTeachesEnglish We shouldn't do this for AL yeah?
Do I have to write about the effect of language in English literature
Hi sir, so is one poem written first then the other paragraph, or are the both compared going along in each paragraph?
I hoped I was super clear about this in the video!
Go to 3:20 he explains it there
Sir , how do you apply the same quotations to different themes
so i could write one paragraph on the two paragraphs and the rest on just the one?

Only if it links to the poet’s purpose
