dayana romero hmmm... maybe they haven't learned well the art of lying? i mean my lying is getting rusty-er by the day since i don't live with my parents
My rule was "if you get good grades, you can do anything". My parents let me do anything pretty much always, and I used this privilege to stay home and watch TV because I was too lazy to go out to parties or whatever. Yet all my friends who were never allowed to do anything, constantly rebelled and snuck out. Strict parents raise rebellious kids, ey?
+Stephanie Smith I never got that privilege. Good grades were expected and anything 75 and below was considered failing. If behaving good, watching my brother, and doing my school work gave me freedom, i would be so free but I feel trapped sometimes.
Angy Olivier Yeah, the danger with constantly getting good grades, is it stops being an achievement when you get a good grade, and more of an expectation. I definitely feel with you there. I was lucky though, because if I got a bad mark once in a while (which from my high expectations is also below an A), my parents would be a little antsy, but if I explained it was a one-off thing, I was just having issues with friendships or whatever, they would kind of appreciate the honesty and say "don't let it happen again". You probably already do this, but if you don't, communication and chatting to them 'equally' can do wonders.
+Stephanie Smith I was crying in the hallways on my way to science when I got a B in English first term... I was so sad, but as I got older, my mom started to breathe down my neck less for my grades cause I did it myself. I almost broke down when I got a 93% (75/80 we don't round at all for this type of exam) on an exam. I probably should have studied for it instead of watching TH-cam for eight hours straight, but still...it was math and you either get it or you don't. Studying is useless for math
Irene Wan Typing notes for maths is rubbish, but I'd say doing practice questions is definitely a form of study, which is not useless in maths. If you're already good, and understand it, studying just reinforces what you know. If you're not good, even then, if you look at the answers and learn what you did wrong, you still learn.
What strict parents think they teaches you: •How to be a orderly and disciplined. What they actually teaches you: •How to listen for footsteps. •Best ways to lie and make false scenarios. •To feel unloved but loved at the same time.
@@zerere_ same dude. Like I can identify anyone instantly. Whether you walked by me once in your life or a hundred-thousand times. Plus I can read anyone instantly, by their body language tone of voice, how loud they're speaking, their word of choice, etc. (I'm not gonna go into more detail bc we'll be hear for years.)
Personally, I am thankful that they have given me everything that I needed, but them being strict now that I am 23, I feel like I am stuck in a life of a 13 year old for the rest of my life, and it is very frustrating.
@@mysseraefim7852 yeah and Anti Feminists make jokes about it thinking that girls should be slaves for men and parents think girls are weaker than boys and this is why they bring up these terrible rules Luckily my father allows me to have a boyfriend and lets me wear anything i want and lets me go out whenever I want but girls who have good parents like that are judged and labelled as "whores"
I relate to this ! Like being 21 and told to come back home before sunset is outrageous hhh ! Especially that I live alone now that I am in college and only come home during holidays
I feel that, Im about the same age and I wasnt able to get my liscense until I was about 21 and that was me pushing it. My dad is like 'you dont need it we can drive you...' but then he wines and complains about driving me and then didnt do it
I just realized that literally all of my cries during the middle of the night are because of my parents and their unwillingness to give me a chance to make my own choice. Or to listen to my opinion. Most of my insecurities are caused by them and I don't remember the last time I felt loved. Maybe that's why I never particularly felt love towards them. That sounds really cruel but I can't help it. They're probably the most toxic people in my life. And realizing that just sucks.
My mom would complain "why dont you just play with your friends instead of playing gadgets" and i was thinking in my head "you dont let me play my gadgets and you dont even let me gO To my FrIenDs hoUse"
And when you have an actually good argument, with facts and logic, but your parents reasoning is just, "because I said so." Like wow you're arguing skills are incredible, mom and dad. I totally see where you're coming from. You have such strong points too. Seriously though, parents, stop that it's so annoying.
I'm 17 and I'm still not allowed to date. My mom sent me to an all-girls school to keep me away from boys. Turns out I'm a lesbian. Jokes on you mom ha ha
An “lol” about suicidal thoughts is no laughing matter. Either you want attention because you’re a 14 year old trying to sound appealing and cool to a crowd, or you seriously need help. Take it from a person who actually has something very wrong with them because of a mental illness I’m embarrassed and ashamed about. I’ve had strict parents and to this day as an adult on my own it’s the same. But never once have I EVER laughed talking about suicidal thoughts. Perhaps your parents won’t leave you out of their sight for that exact reason. Live, learn, and grow.
Teresa Wong please understand I mean no offense. To me it’s not a light matter. It’s very real and scary. If I hear or see someone talk about it I instantly worry about their well-being.
I hate when i say something like "The day was good, i GUESS. But ya know..." And the response i get is: "DON'T SPEAK TO ME IN THAT TONE. I'M NOT ONE OF YOUR FRIENDS, I'M YOUR MOTHER!!"
My parents are so strict and religious. I never went to a sleepover. I've never been out the house to hang out with friends. I can't wear the brands I like the most. I can't make my own choice. I never do anything. Everyday after school I just sleep and do my homework. I wish my life was a little different so I could be a little happier.

Me: *breaths* Dad: DONT YOU DARE USE THAT TONE WITH ME YOUNG LADY Me: I didn’t do anything Dad: DONT TALK BACK TO ME GIVE ME YOUR PHONE IM DELETING ALL YOUR APPS
My parents say they would choose my husband but they are relying me on going to university, get a degree in medicine and go to med school until I’m a doctor or nurse and yet my brother dropped out of university and got to choose his wife. unbelievable
You should be happy they WANT u to study.. many times parents stop girls from studies even though they are good students but provide everything necessary to the boy who is so bad at studing
@@cookieninja8221 that's true but one problem atleast makes you capable while the other one makes u handicap. Maybe not everyone likes studying but if one is educated then they have more opportunities to work and navigate this world and when ur parents force u to study they aren't getting anything out of tht. While I'm from a country where certain types of parents hate you for being a girl and make u completely incapable of doing anything other than housework.....yes, too much study pressure is a different kind of problem and tht needs to be addressed...I'm just happy that I'm getting an education and some rights and freedom...life is very different when you are not allowed to date cause if you do...u r literally forced to marry or locked up or killed by family in name of Honor killing...u are not allowed to study, pursue a career or wear anything revealing.. I'm not belittling anyone's pain because that's wrong but I'm saying u have an advantage of getting to study...use it.
My friends keep telling me to ask my parents to allow me to go with them but I told them I can't. I just can't. I mean, my parents would never let me so when an invitation came, I instantly say no.
+Archer Laughlin Uhmm. What makes you think I have an iPhone? XD My phone is only a small Nokia and I used the family's Sony digicam that for my TH-cam picture.
My mom is like 50% laid-back and 50% strict to us. It's weird that I've never done drug before, never snuck out of my house without permission and still managed to get good grades. My mom and dad let me hang out with my friends and let them come for sleepover. They also let me wear anything that I want but I don't like to wear shorts in public except in my house. They always told me to come back home before 6:00 p.m. though and it's one of my routine now.
I not allowed associate with one of my friends anymore cause she introduced me to non-Christian music (I mean I still talk to her at school and stuff) I’m not allowed to draw any emotion other than happy Opinions? What’s that I get screamed at for calmly saying my opinion Privacy? WHATS THAT. My mom comes in when I’m showering and just opens the curtain and my parents always go through my stuff My friends all hate my parents (especially my father) and don’t come over cause of them Can’t say: Frick(ing) or crap
Something I find very annoying is when parents are wrong or angry and they’re right because they said so and that their better because they’re the parents. I have so much of a argument to make that is very valid but it always gets put down as stop making excuses
When your mum tells you to stop talking about something you are completely sure of, consider the argument won. She can't say anything else, so she's shutting you. Ik this sounds mean, but when this happens, I give them my biggest smug smile and leave the room. And it's fun because they literally know I just won, even if I had shut up. 😁
+Maryis Kat probably didn't last that long XD hour it did though. just in my opinion they will never talk when there going. of course there are exceptions though
Not allowed to get my driver's license at 16 because 'people are crazy' Not allowed to have sleepovers No bikinis or crop tops or shorts that are too short or spaghetti straps or ... Just wear sweatpants and a sweater No dating till you're 18 And much more
My parents are not strict but really offensive because my brother can just sit around being lazy and making a mess while I have to clean up after him because I’m a girl . They tell Me to clean the house even though I’m busy with homework and my brother is sitting around doing nothing
Sunshine Shi I swear my parents are super strict (my dad more than my mom) and it does make me want to not live with them, it makes me yearn for the freedom I don't have in my own house.
well be a tiny bit strict because then ur children will have bad behaviour and they will act rude and don't u want ur future children to be nice and respectful?
Teens25 Gacha - same! My mum grounded me cause I didn’t answer the phone...I WAS IN EXAM AND I SHOULDNT EVEN HAVE A PHONE IN EXAM! I’m so glad I had it on vibrate😱🙏🏻
I'm a transman and I had another guy over (he's my best friend) and my dad ended up driving him home. He's straight and he knows I'm a boy. He wouldn't do anything. He wanted to hang out, not sleepover like my other friend was doing. I'm out to my parents and my dad still said "You're a girl. No boys over." That hit me hard and I cried to my friend the rest of the night.
Yes, I get he's trying to protect me, but he put me in a greater risk by calling me a girl. I could've ran in the middle of the road while he was gone. What if my friend was my girlfriend? (I'm gay, so not a chance. That don't know that really.) Am I just not allowed to have friends?
I'm sorry Hun, but just remember that you know who you truly are! And if your father can't accept it then forget him, embrace who you are, embrace your gender and I love you, and I bet you're the best looking guy that ever lived! Have a good day, to everyone reading this, I love you and accept you for who you are
My parents can be so overprotective soemtimes. I was planning to go to the movies with two friends of mine, and my parents alreaey knew it. BUT NOOOO ,it was like the last minute i was getting ready and my father started freaking out like:YOU THINK WE'RE GOING TO ALLOW YOU TO GO ALONE?WHO IS GOING TO PROTECT YOU,YOUR FRIENDS?YOU MIGHT GET RAPED,ROBBED,OR KILLED ,YOU ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE FORGET ABOUT IT. Oh,God knows how easily i could murder anyone at that moment. That was so unfair....Literally,sometimes ,they're paranoic.
Oh, that happens to me all the time :') my friends don't even call me to hang out anymore cause they know my parents won't let me go. Funny thing? All my friends are girls i mean there's not even a risk of something else happening :'| fml
Shreya Sharma EXACTLY your 13!something horrible can happen to you they only say that because they LOVE and care about you they don't want anything to happen to you
...and here I have my mother, TRYING to get me to date, wear nicer, more feminine clothes and just spend more time with friends outside, go to concerts or clubs or something... and I just do my best potato impression every time. Funny how we always end up 'rebelling' one way or another, without even meaning to.
I feel like my mother doesn't trust me to have freedom, even though I've never given he a reason not to trust me, she treats me like I'm 14 or something...
My mom told me this once, so I just gave it to her, but later I discovered that she just wanted to invite them to my surprise 15 birthday party. I wish I could have known this, I gave her the phone number of the friends she knew but I had some friends that she didn't know and I wish they could have been there.
Because of this strict and weird rules I was unable to live freely , had problems at school, got bullied , had negative comments , I have been like joke to my friends, I was insecure about my looks , judging myself, been awkward at every situation but at the end of the day I at least knew how to walk alone in my path and remain alone in my corner 😑😑 thanks and now I know relationship , friendship and family are all joke and a baseless drama of FAKE love.
I'm so glad my parents aren't strict. Some of these rules are insane. Respect your child and their choices. All that being stupidly strict does is ensure your child lies to your face constantly.
+Ruth Croft Yes and what is strict parents going to teach them? It is going to teach them to be afraid of their parents and it is going to teach them to be sneaky so.....
Ruth Croft Ruth Croft well, different people do parenting differently. Its those little things is what you value when you're older. I have friends that their parents don't even teach things like don't spend too much, how to be humble, punctuality and other things too. For example, in my house, im not allowed to switch on the air-conditioner whenever i want (except for hot days) & i can only turn it on during at night up until 4.30am (i have to set the air conditioner to switch off) cause my parents don't want to pay the electric bill up to 1000 a month just because we turn on the air-cond for the whole day and I have a like 4 siblings too. Imagine if all of us switch the air cond on for the entire day. Its a waste of money and electricity. It sounds silly doesnt it, but rules like that keeps you grounded. Its those things that makes who you are today.
Dad: talking to himself when I'm right next to him Me: what did you say? Dad: I wasn't talking to you was I Me: I didn't know Dad: not everything's about you, you know Me: I know Dad: you're not listening Me: yes I am Dad: dont talk back to me
Omg whenever my mom says something I know I just politely tell her “yes I know mom”. No sarcasm or attitude. And she’s just like “WhY dO yOu AlWaYs HaVe To KnOw EvErYtHiNg YoU hAvE tO sAy YeS mOm ThAnK yOu” like what???
Briannah Gomez see in my house it was more like strict parents create a militant child 😂 they loosened up now but even still Im like programmed at this point
Lmao that is very true. I’m living proof. I look back on my previous years and realized how awfully sneaky I was. I still am sneaky and I can’t help it. Even my teachers and friends at school think I’m sneaky.
Funny. I’m Indian, and I have pierced ears, I have a phone, and I can hang out with friends(not now, with corona, obviously). More often they would come to my house rather than me going to theirs, but I could still see my friends
My parents had rules, but they were very reasonable parents. If I came home past curfew (10pm-1am as I got older) I was to call in advance or give a reason as to why I was late when I got home. So long as I was honest and I wasn't acting like a brat it was all good.
Same. The stricter the parents, the more sneaky kids are. Most of them, not all of course. I'm honest with my parents so they're reasonable with what I can do
I don't think that works. Girls usually will rebel. It's better to use reverse psychology. I'm gonna play rap videos for my teenagers and tell them to grow up to be video vixen and have sex as much as possible and do drugs. Then they will think that stuff is lame and they will grow up normal.
When I was still in school, our parents would tell us that we were only to date after we were done in school. I am now almost 20, out of college, and have a job, and yet I am still not allowed to date.
I am the last daughter, so I didn't have it that bad but still it is annoying how they let my nephews and nieces get away with stuff I would have been kill for. The worst part is that when I tell them this, they are just like "those were different times" but if I try to use that in another argument they said "times are always the same" I think they just want to be right always
I'm not allowed to have a sleepover with my bestfriend (she lives 3 min away from me and we are bestfriends for 11 years) and not allowed to date until 20 so...
Olivera Sekulić no 18 is fine your gonna be independent and can move out and they can’t do nothing about it also 20 is about the time when you have kids.... so don’t wait or you’ll be an old parent
My dad is heaps more loose with my brother. If there was a girl in a sports class he was taking my dad would say "Do you like her? Is she your girlfriend?" Etc. But when my dad found me watching a TH-cam who was a guy once he told me the I better not be talking to guys online and told me he would get his shot gun out of the shed. I have no interest in dating yet anyway. Double standards
My parents are strict in my friends' eyes but really they just want to have a basic idea of where I'll be when I'm out, who I'll be with, and roughly when I'll be home. It bothered me when I was younger, but when I raise and love my own kids I'm not going to let them loose to do every single thing they want. There should be a happy medium in my opinion.
Nina Zuccaro OH MY FRIENDS THINK MY MOM IS NICE BECAUSE WHEN PEOPLE ARE AROUND SHE DOESNT YELL OR CALL ME LAZY BUT WHEN WERE ALONE SHELL SAY IM ALWAYS LAZY AND I ATE ONE GRANOLA BAR 1!! AND I LEFT ONE AND I GOT IN TROUBLE FOR EATING IT! (It’s for the whole family btw)
ug... It's so awkward and maddening when my friend (female) is always told by her mother "keep your legs together" or "Don't eat so much or you'll get fat" while her brother is right there just being told nothing. Sadly there are so many parents like this. -_-
It's weird because my mom is very laid-back she doesn't have harsh rules on me she lets me go out she lets me hang out with friends let's friends come over she trusts me and I've never done drugs I've never snuck out of the house so I don't understand why parents have to be strict I get good grades I don't drink or do drugs so it's kind of weird to be really strict.
What strict parents think they teach us: discipline, respect, good manners What they actually teach us: the urge to rebel, how to hide things, and disrespect.
"How strict are your parents?"
"You had fun this week, you can't have fun next week"

What strict parents think they teaches you:
•How to be a orderly and disciplined.
What they actually teaches you:
•How to listen for footsteps.
•Best ways to lie and make false scenarios.
•To feel unloved but loved at the same time.

Live, learn, and grow.

naina arora
I think that both are equally problematic
Not allowed to talk to boys, not explained about sex, expected to marry inside caste... not given any choice...u can't talk back, dance or play or learn to ride a bike(motercycle) be sweet and nice and most importantly obedient ...I can go on but u get the point.....

Aliya Kauser if my cousins are in my house....they ran to my *RoOm*
I knOw
Right!?
Aliya Kauser lol
If I had strict parents and these rules I think i'd feel very depressed
i have worse rules than this
Scarlet Rayer I am
Scarlet Rayer I’m not allowed to have my phone upstairs
I think I am depressed
I have strict parents
Oh boy u would be
As an Indian I can relate to it much more than I should 😩
Same tell me about it
Same fml
As an Arab tho
Same
Lucky
Same here.
Same. The stricter the parents, the more sneaky kids are. Most of them, not all of course. I'm honest with my parents so they're reasonable with what I can do
+Zanna C Art lol lucky school finishes at 3 and l have to be home by 4:30 and am not even allowed to go out
This is exactly how my parents act
My mom told me never to date until I'm out of college and have a stable job.
*Date*
Same
I don't think that works. Girls usually will rebel. It's better to use reverse psychology. I'm gonna play rap videos for my teenagers and tell them to grow up to be video vixen and have sex as much as possible and do drugs. Then they will think that stuff is lame and they will grow up normal.
+drew dennen tell me how that works out lol
+drew dennen I feel bad for your future children, that is the craziest idea Ive ever heard
When I was still in school, our parents would tell us that we were only to date after we were done in school.
I am now almost 20, out of college, and have a job, and yet I am still not allowed to date.
I'm not allowed to wear leggings. Or even leave my house except for school. Or even have an opinion.
what
+Javeria Z Yuuupp when ever i say my opinion they always counter with... STOP ARGUEING
+Javeria Z aw
Same my dad always says that my opinions are wrong and that his opinions are the best and I'm not allowed to wear leggings either
And when I'm right in an argument they say that i'm being disrespectful
Buzzfeed: What its like to have strict parents
Asian kids: Are we a joke to you ????
i cant even go into my room
forreal
+KTDA Skateboards yes
+Kaylea Cheok Why?!
Kaylea Cheok Oh
me too! i cant even stay inside my room if it is not bedtime urrgh
I will be a loving mother more than my mother was and even more than my grandmother...
should've had carribean people in this 😭
Caribbean parents create their own level of strictness
True
Yessss
Haitians my lord
+leahallyannah Trinidadians lord have mercy lol
the worst part was watching my younger sister get away with everything my parents would've killed me for
That’s terrible. And the opposite for me. They let my older siblings get away with everything and I have to live like a peasant
EXACTLY
I'm not allowed to have a sleepover with my bestfriend (she lives 3 min away from me and we are bestfriends for 11 years) and not allowed to date until 20 so...
Olivera Sekulić no 18 is fine your gonna be independent and can move out and they can’t do nothing about it also 20 is about the time when you have kids.... so don’t wait or you’ll be an old parent
Olivera Sekulić rebel
Destiny Delicious in Saudi this is impossible you will never be independent because of the rules
I’m not allowed to ate until I’m 25! but I’m 11 currently and I have a boyfriend.. XD
My parents are the opposite they will do anything to get rid of me lol
My dad is heaps more loose with my brother. If there was a girl in a sports class he was taking my dad would say "Do you like her? Is she your girlfriend?" Etc. But when my dad found me watching a TH-cam who was a guy once he told me the I better not be talking to guys online and told me he would get his shot gun out of the shed. I have no interest in dating yet anyway. Double standards
Wouldn't let me say freaking either
Tiana S your dad has a problem....
Nina Zuccaro I'm glad. Your parents love you. I'd be scared shitless if my child didn't call me every now and then whilst being out.
@@listening2loversrock435 Same With Me😡😠
ug... It's so awkward and maddening when my friend (female) is always told by her mother "keep your legs together" or "Don't eat so much or you'll get fat" while her brother is right there just being told nothing. Sadly there are so many parents like this. -_-
That one girl was so emo back then
It's weird because my mom is very laid-back she doesn't have harsh rules on me she lets me go out she lets me hang out with friends let's friends come over she trusts me and I've never done drugs I've never snuck out of the house so I don't understand why parents have to be strict I get good grades I don't drink or do drugs so it's kind of weird to be really strict.
Same
+Calum AF well thats the deal if ur parents prevend u from doing stuff you would want to do it more
+LORA JYHEFFECT well my mom isn't strict and I don't do any of those things
Calum AF i know it's because ur mom doesn't tell you don't. . If she did u will be cerious about them
lmao same
Me: I'm not allowed to date, oh wait no one likes me I'm gonna be an old cat lady😂
Laura Singss same
Laura Singss All hail cats.
What strict parents think they teach us: discipline, respect, good manners
What they actually teach us: the urge to rebel, how to hide things, and disrespect.
