SVS "plate" amplifier check over

- I look at a "plate" amp from an SVS Bash sub woofer that is apparently dead.
Power supply issue is what the owner was told when he received it.
Also a look at that old 1940 Philco Radio, and the preset tuner slugs.
Nice odd stuff! Unusual!
For that plate amp load, try good old household light bulbs wired in series
and/or parallel (what ever it takes) to get your desired load resistance. They
can take the 100s of watts forever without burning out. Add a few more in
series and tap across one for your shop speakers so you can hear, but your
scope must do the rest. lol, I don't imagine sub-woofers like any DC offset.
Well without the heat sink the transistors won't last long. The guy that owns it was told the power supply was bad, but apparently not.
Wonderful testing technique. Will you post another part of this video sir?
No because the amp was sent back.
Just watched the video of the SVS bash amp. Can you fix mine?
Love the sub and can’t find a replacement plate
Same problem for me no plate, NINE weeks no plate. Now SVS does not have any time line for me. And the part numbers on the semiconductors are BS do not cross to anything. Did you have any luck finding repair or replacement?
Where did your third hand come from at 8:50?
Owner of the radio was here listening to it. Happy that it works, as he had never heard it play. Bought it from a scrap yard 60 years ago and it sat in his garage since then. (The fella is 80, same age as the radio)
Do you accept items to repair from overseas like Australia? I have a Sony GV-9 working fine through the AV out to a tv with picture and sound but the internal LCD was working but flickered a few months ago while watching a movie then turned white so looks like I can only see the back light. ?
Those units are too old to bother. They are full if leaky surface mount electrolytic.
@@12voltvids have already removed the old caps cleaned the boards and fitted new caps and it was working 100% for months
Sir i need help on this model, in the smps side there is a Thermistor near the ZTX558 bjt, can u identify its value and inform pls?
No idea
Hello, why is it your using 60hz frequency to energize the power supply?
I'm not. I am using the generator to apply a signal so it turns on. If there is no input signal the power supply turns off. I only chose 60 hz because this is a sub amp. It really only operates on frequencies below 150hz
Odds are the speaker in the SVS is blown.
At 8.50, an extra hand helping.
Pointing at the switch
How about odds and evens? 😏
Any body see the third hand sneak in and point to radio at about 8,49 mins
Nice channel 🥀
Wo great sir
(@2:35 or so) - electronic fart. 😏
2:34 sounds like a wet fart. Lol
