my spa250 was intermittent. had cold solder joints on the phase and auto power switches. reflowed those and good as new. amp wasn't that old and barely used at the time. i've got 3 dayton plate amps and everyone has had some kind off issue. the spa100 has horrible turn on thump. i'll probably just add a delay circuit for that one day.
how do you get the schematics for all of these amplifiers..im a novice myself ..thank you for making these videos Kev,they really show the praticle side of repairs..
I got a ASW600 for basically free, anyway, after a month of having it, i thought i better test it out. plugged it in, nothing. But the woofer was/is still good. Yesterday i pulled the amp out, opened up the sealed case, and it was a horror show. the board was on fire inside, but because it is sealed, it can't burn for very long. all the big power transistors are shorted across all pins, pretty much every cap is swollen. there was even a transistor that somehow managed to fall out of the board and melt itself to the outside casing. So thats my project after my uni exams are finished.
Howa bout infinity sub with bad power supply pcb had loose pads an traces around large resistors, tried to fix with wire bypass traces an it sparks an smokes on that board junk
Great Job! I have an amp just like this... Damage is similar to the one in this video. Let me know if you're interested to do the repair. I'd like both sides repaired including RS2 & RS3, because I see heat issues on both sides of the riser board. Let me know. Thanks. Steve.
@@The_Active_Region Can I please ask where you found the schematic for the SPA250? I am trying to trace an intermittent fault on this unit, but as you can probably appreciate reverse engineering the schematic is very time consuming. If you can provide a link it would be most appreciated. Thanks.
Hi. Just wanted to ask what the small white block-like connections are? Trying to diagnose a faulty sub amp and noticed one of these small white blocks was extremely loose on the board and will completely disconnect at one side of the solder points while the other side of the contact remains connected! Any suggestions? Amp receives power but no sound output...speaker already confirmed functional. Cheaper and easier to buy a new separate amp or possible to repair? Thanks for any help
i have 2 svs subwoofer plate amps that need fixed. they are 1000w amps and they are for the svs sb-13ultra. would you be interested in repairing them? simply lmk thanks
hey bud i have the logitech z623 and the4 sub suddently stopped working. No smells or bad noise. There is an amp insider the subwoofer can this blow and make the sub stop altogether? ty the sub still gets power as one of the small satellite speakers runs from d sub off the subwoofer itself. only the actually bass and subwoofer not working bud.
+Ravindra Maharaj without a schematic there is no way other than having another device of the same model. Or find photos online. Measuring may not work of its burt up bad.
If you find them, let me know. I have a 5+ year old spa250. The soft limit switch burns resistors like clock work. Everyone has this problem on these models.
I have a 5+ year old model. Do I have to replace everything before and after those burnt resistors. And what should I upgrade the components to so it doesn't happen again?
__ After two years: Electrolytic capacitors go bad quickly if they get warm. So if you see these big power resisters there’s a good chance that the electrolytic capacitors close to them are shot. You can buy ESR meters for about $ 6-12 on eBay to measure the caps. Most Digital Multi Meters will also give you an indication.
If you find them let me know. I have a 5+ year old spa250 and want to compare it to the newer models so I can potentially switch out a few resistors, zenor diodes, etc. with more reliable components.

Great job on both amps. Would be nice to see more repairs on amplifiers like this ;)
laying on my bed heard two bangs an hour apart then the smell of burning vinyl from my subwoofer - thanks for this video

Nice Job on both boards.................thumbs up.
I have a 15 inch stereo pair of these in my system. Last night one started humming Badly. We shall see!
Hi… on the schematic for this amp (SPA250), does it list the part number for the potentiometer gain control? The on my amp seems to be going bad.😢
can post the schematic here ?

At least there was a schematic available!
That is true. I didn't expect to find one.
@@The_Active_Region hi and thanks for the video. Seems I have rs1 and rs2 burned. I need help cos I don't have a schematic. Where can I find one?

What kind of camera did you use on this video? I liked how it was able to focus rapidly from one thing to another as you panned around.
It is a Sony HDR-CX560

My amp board has a heat scorch. What should I do?
hey kevin how do you find whats the value of a burnt out resistor with out the service manual?

Does parts express carry any amp plates for the dayton sub-800 (80 watt)

Hello.
I am looking for a service manual for the Klipsch SW 112 subwoofer.
Best Regards

That model amp always has problems in the soft limit circuit, mostly due to light duty resistors.

Do you have a schematic for dayton sp 500 sub amp?
No I don't. I search for them on google if there available I download them.
I have a 5 year old model or so...where would I find the schematic?

Cheap chinesium parts.
