  • I made this video a few days ago, but it's my most difficult topic so took a little bit to post. I will also add, I'm not 100%, but SO much better.
    Cheers, Melissa

Thanks for this. You are giving a lot of encouragment to me and others who may be going through similar circumstances.
I don't think my experiences can ever come close to your struggles but I can identify to some small degree. One source of your depression may be a result of an incredibly strong maternal love for your children. The thought of them having to deal with this illness and all the ramifications that come with would certainly cause a deep sorrow and depression in me.
Like you, your children have no choice but to follow this road one day at a time where there are no maps or destinations in sight and where there is fear of the unknown as well as many unanswered questions. They will survive. They have your DNA.
They will grow up, marry, have kids of their own and remember you with great love and fondness. They will tell their kids stories about a mom who had great courage in the midst of a fierce life and death struggle. A mom who could laugh and joke in the midst of it all. A mom who made them happy in just about every way imaginable.
Finally, they will be so much better equipped than most of us when the challenges of adulthood come. All because of the example and courage you are living out before them today.

Oh my. The smoothie part 😭. I've been there as a grown woman, wanted to figure out the "smoothie " for my dad. Bless his sweet heart. Thanks for sharing this part of your story. Depression is so hard to deal with and thank you for having the strength to talk about it.

Having struggled with cancer myself I could not believe I would be anything but happy after the ordeal. But no. I began to experience sadness and depression and almost ptsd symptoms. Come find out it's all tied together. Now I forgive my self for feeling crummy, ask for forgiveness when I'm crummy to my loved ones and I just move on.
Life is to short forgive yourself, love yourself warts and all. Love and hugs to you.
