Grayfruit is actually incredibly slick in this game, it was funny to me that he talked about all the bonkers stuff that speedrunners do, and then actually pulled off some super impressive tricks.
Greyfruit has a particular way of speaking sometimes that always makes me laugh. Like somebody who has English as a second language, and it makes for great comedic delivery. My point is I've never heard anybody say the phrase, "I'm really just eating a lot of asshole aren't I?"
well what’s great is that he’s also very well spoken and has a generally well put together demeanor while speaking so it leads to a sort of uncanny valley in his voice that’s just naturally comedic
Whenever Grayfruit makes jokes involving the name Kevin I start looking around my room nervously. Shoutout to all the Kevins who think Kevin jokes are funny. (Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot the blocks were canonically named Kevin. Oops!)
Heya! Just wanted to say thanks again for using my art in the thumbnail! I usually consider the potential of art being used for stream openers or BRB screens, but I never expected one of my drawings would wind up as one of your thumbnails one day! It's a serious honor to have one of my drawings be used like this, and with the semester finally winding down I'm looking forward to practicing more digital art! Hope you're having an amazing day and keep up the amazing work!
"There is one berry that fits my particular palate." I knew exactly what that meant the instant you said it. Major props for going back and getting the moon berry
I actually really liked the story! (not here to be a contrarian, just want to share my views) I feel like its a really good way to represent Anxiety and the inescapable feeling it brings. I think it handled the topic of accepting the worse parts of yourself really well. And i still use the feather coping mechanism to this day! thanks for covering my favourite game of all time fruit. Keep up the great content!
Yea I’m in the same boat as you, I actually am trans just like the creator of the game and have anxiety as well. So the whole story is just super relatable
I respect that opinion, I just wish it didn't beat me over the head with those themes. I feel it'd be a good story if written better, if that makes any sense.
13:55 I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be that, now that you and Badeline are working together, going back up to where Badeline threw you down is so fast that all of them combined don't count as a full level
Yeah tbh it sounds like Grayfruit didn’t quite appreciate what the story was doing, which is cool but it is kind of a shame. Madeline’s journey is very personal and at times gets a bit metaphorical, if you can relate to her then you’re going to appreciate that but I can see how the narrative might fly over the heads of people who don’t relate to her struggles. Personally the story really resonated with me the first playthrough (before I even realised I had anxiety like Madeline!) and remains one of my favourite stories in a video game. But Grayfruit also said he didn’t like the A side music that much so idk, I got no explanation for that one lol
jesus guys give me some credit. all I meant is now the levels are just completely re arranged and physically shorter to be suited to your new abilities so that the level can happen, which doesn't really have any sort of actual explanation besides "if it wasn't like that then the last level would be super long and lame and this is supposed to be a fun video game". it was just a silly nit pick... and I never said I didn't like the A side music.
@@grayfruitSorry my man, I definitely didn’t mean to offend and I lowkey feel really bad now. I actually didn’t mind the nitpick, I was mainly talking about when you said you said you thought the story was ok but not amazing, because the story is very special to me for personal reasons I thought maybe you just missed some things, but yeah obviously I should have given you more credit, that’s totally fair. Also I stopped the video a little early to avoid Farewell spoilers so if you mentioned the story more at the end then really that’s on me for making the comment without seeing the full video. Honestly I really hesitated to put in the stupid joke about the music, definitely would have thought twice if I knew you’d ever read this random comment thread. Really needed a biiiiig /s on the end there, or maybe a less terrible joke next time. I thought it might be funny at the time but now I realise it came off as pretty bad natured which isn’t what I wanted at all. Hope you didn’t find it hurtful because I actually super appreciate you dude, I clicked this video so fast when I saw it in my recommendations and I really enjoyed it as always. Besides, let’s be fair here, even though the A side music is kind of my jam the B sides are totally banging. Lena Raine actually has them as a seperate soundtrack on her bandcamp if you’re still looking for that btw
if i remember correctly the room at 20:56 is meant to teach you that you can dash diagonally from below and slide over the corner to hit the spring, but i haven’t played in a long time i could just be making tricks up in my head
Ooh, a fellow Golden Ridge appreciator! The wind really is more of a modifier on your movement than restricting your speed, which makes it so much fun! Glad to see others agree. (Especially with the graphics of it, it's like, almost the same as the summit's but with a bit more blue instead of purple in the foreground, and it's so pretty.)
Oh, if I may say, they did release the 8-bit versions (along with the piano only version of First Steps) along with a lot of other "unreleased" songs in Madeline's Grab Bag!
If you ever do wanna learn a better demo dash strat, there’s a video that links it to a sound cue with the music. Super helpful, especially when you do an organic demo and not the crouch dash button variant.
