In my opinion the best way that CA could use to make a possible HE caravan mechanic unique would be to implement them as naval caravans. Instead of going around on land the caravans would travel on sea to various trade hubs and elven colonies. This would perfectly match their lore emphasis on being the biggest single naval power in the setting and expert traders.

The High Elves *could* have their own caravan system - with a twist: they're not caravans, but cargo ships capable of trading with special port settlements across the map. Complete with their own unique events etc. to make them stand out from the land-based caravans.
The HE are basically the UK in this sense.

Absolutely, The White Tower as a pop up screen mechanic that you can build up like Athel Tamarha in Eltharion's campaign would be sick, given how monumental the White Tower is in High Elf culture and society, having something like that which really cements High Elves as the apex magic users similar to Wissenland as the apex gunnery school would be so legit. Something like the Ice Court mechanic either for Teclis with the White Tower or Tyrion with the Phoenix Court would be awesome

I thought about Teclis being a "Lego:Build your onw adventure mage" having access to 9 spells instead of 6 chosing 1 from each lore of magic. As for his campaign mechanics I think either of the propositions are fine, the White Tower mechanic or the College of Magic or maybe a mix between the two, who knows. But I'd definitely love if he could have 1 spell per lore to make him more of a unique caster lord.

    1. Campaign Roster units need an increase in stats. They've been left behind updates.
    2. Tyrion utilize the "Karl Franz" 9 button interface, intrigue/imperial authority is very close to the same mechanic.
    3. Teclis utilize the "Balthar Gelt" Mechanic. Replace: Increase Capacity with Recruit at +4 rank.
    4. Increase intrigue
Lend Lease: Target defensive/military ally. Deploy Lords/recruit units from your capital to target region. 10T CD
Defense of Ulthuan: Teleport Army to any owned gate on Ulthuan. 5TCD
Servant of the Faith: Increase rite duration by 2 turns 10T CD
Ghost Arrows: Ranged units ignore tree collision for 3 turns. 10T CD
Advance Scouts: Target Enemy Army takes 0 - 20% damage on all units. Untargetable in city. 10T CD
    In addition to the above
    Tyrion Specific interface:
Oath of Fealty: Confederate defensive ally/military ally.
Artifacts of Old: Generate Purple Item. 5T CD
Last Stand: Increase leadership by 10 for 3T. 10 CD
Call to Arms: Decrease recruitment duration by 1T factionwide, increase local and global recruitment +2 for 2T. 10 CD
Update bottom tech tree and remove gold cost for tech advancement.
Allarielle: Give more intrigue per city visited once Ulthuan is united. Give Allarielle the ability to teleport from Galen Vale to any friendly controlled forest. (her alone)
Alith Anar: Give Shadow warrior/Shadow Walkers a quiver tech. Switching between Normal Arrows/Armor piercing(greatly decrease fire rate) and Magic Arrows. Give Shadow Warriors better stats.
Eltharion: Increase chance of capturing a lord from Auto-battle. Give better Mist Walkers.
Lower Nobles/Noble building to tier 3
Lower Flamespyre Phoenix to Tier 3
Give Teclis: Yellow Chaos Waste and Green Desert
Give Alith Anar Green Chaos Waste

"Eltharion: Increase chance of capturing a lord from Auto-battle."
I've played recently with mods that do exactly that and it plays so much better, because I'm not forced to play decisive battle results out, just so I can get their lord captured.
      "Give better Mist Walkers."
The same mod group has Mist Walkers profit from research & lord abilities and allows to stack mirror abilities as you keep them even after the lord you got the ability from is gone (release, executed, faction destroyed...). Which is really awesome as over the course of a campaign you fight many different factions, especially if you keep your holdings in Ulthuan (Greenskins, Chaos Warriors, Dark Elves, Tomb Kings, Vampire Coast...). And when the mirror abilities stack, you can slowly but surely create really nice troops.

Caradryel is more likely LH than Korhil with Alastar being in the game and the DLC being where they will surely add the Anointed of Asuryan which is the generic version of Caradryel.
The Merwyrm in 8th edition came in three versions, and I wouldn't be surprised if CA included all three variants, HE already has three types of dragon and three types of phoenix. Possibly that will cause some darker infantry units not to appear.
Usually there are three RoRs per DLC, two are always of the same type as the new units added and the third from a pre-existing unit.

    @ShadowPhoenixMaximus 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +10

Maybe Tyrion's end game could be focused on getting Ulthuan ready for a Chaos invasion. At this point the Dark Elves would likely be extinct (thanks to Alith Anar) and the Empire would be either on the verge of defeat or already beaten. I mean Tyrion does this in multiple settings. In Warhammer Total War 2 he's operating on behalf of the Phoenix King to defend Ulthuan. In Warhammer Online he's defending Ulthuan from a Dark Elf invasion, whilst the Phoenix King moves to support Karl Franz against a Chaos invasion.
Taking inspiration from Warhammer Fantasy history, a large Chaos Daemon invasion could pop off after a certain point (perhaps it could be Undivided or perhaps it could be a 4 way with each chaos god attacking Ulthuan from opposite ends of the map) and the player has to defend against multiple waves of Daemonic armies.

  • @ShadowPhoenixMaximus

Regarding caravans, I think it'd be best if the High Elves had naval caravans...or cargo ships, in other words. If giving that to all High Elves is too much, limit it to Aislinn when he inevitably comes in.
I would also suggest giving the High Elves more climate preferences. Lots of regions in Bretonnia, the Empire and the Border Princes used to be High Elf colonies after all, so it'd make sense to have Temperate as a preferred climate as well. Having Temperate and Temperate Island is also kind of strange. I also agree that both the High and the Dark Elves should get variations of the Tower of Zharr, namely the Phoenix Court and the Black Tower. On a semi-related note: More ranged weapons as obtainable equipment, please!

Alarielle needs a touch up almost as much as the brothers. Her mechanics feel very Warhammer 2, and you can easily ignore the World's Torment mechanic, and if you don't you only briefly get any use out of it before you get rid of the corruption. She needs something more engaging, and I'd also like her to steal some of Karl's new mechanics since unifying Ulthuan fits her perfectly. Definitely her more than Tyrion, being the Everqueen and all.
I wouldn't be opposed to being a hybrid faction, with some Wood Elf mechanics, similar to what the Champions of Chaos are for their respective monogod factions.

The court of intrigue needs a major rework and I mean it needs actual relelvance beyond just dumping points into a faction you want to trade with. Grimhammer has reworked it almost perfectly to make it an actually worthwhile system. Eltharion still needs to be reworked; the mistwalker units get no bonuses from research or skill trees and it's still very dumb given how much they cost for actually how little they offer compared to the vanilla roster which makes it pointless to use any of them other than the Knights of Tor Gaval (which they already slightly nerfed). Plus the Dragon Princes are still a terrible unit; they're high tier cav, high armour, really high cost and little to no armour piercing which makes them kind of a waste of money and effort in a battle. I will also continue to stand on the opinion that I think Teclis does not belong where he is; there is so little going on there for him, his expansion options are so incredibly limited if you don't end up fighting against the lizardmen and it genuinely does not make any sense as to why he's there and not in Lustria which makes his campaign rather boring and irrelevant, he *needs* a reason as to why he's there otherwise why IS he there. I also think they need more than just one or two legendary heroes added, but maybe that's just me.

I was saying some rather impolite things around the ten-minute mark. Sorry, but Archmages having all the lores of magic does not stop them from being one option that just has variants. And the Prince and Princess are basically the same lord with a weapon swap. High Elves were also the only TWW2 race which only received one new lord option in DLCs, the aforementioned Archmage. Don't encourage CA to skimp on High Elves AGAIN just because you favour Dwarfs. They deserve the Annointed, which would be a more support-oriented lord based on applying protective buffs to units around them (a large part of their usage on tabletop is that they granted a lesser form of their magic resistance and ward save to a unit they joined, which in TWW could be represented either as an aura or as defensive activated abilities). I'd say it's more important than the Seahelm, which is really an inferior Handmaiden with a flying mount option, especially if they introduce Caradryan in either capacity (since the Annointed are basically generic Caradryans).
    When it comes to options:
If they're drawing from The Old World, I think it's important to note that there is a high likelihood that Finubar will get stats when the High Elf book is released, since it's based around a period where Finubar was basically THE High Elf character that was present in the Old World.
If they're looking to use the End Times, I think they'll really want to bring Caradryan in. You memed about him "blowing himself up" (and blamed Teclis, weirdly enough, when Teclis blew himself up - IIRC Caradryan died in a duel, and the explosion was something that was always in the rules as something that would happen if he died, so I guess the Chekhov's gun loaded back in 5th edition finally went off), but an important consideration if they are following the actual End Times narrative rather than being something more like a Storm of Chaos is that Caradryan was the Incarnate of Fire at some period, and that came with a greatly upgraded ability to buff his allies (and being released from his vow of silence). Including Caradryan would mean that, after Nagash is also included, they'd have all of the Incarnates covered, which strikes me as important to do if they want to follow an End Times narrative.

I feel Tyrion needs unique mechanics related to protecting/taking up the sword of khaine to lean into his split responsibility of being a ruler/ being a war leader. Right now I don’t think there’s much incentive for him to go down the war path, most people take his campaign mechanic option in skill tree, but if they made it more alluring to buff him (and his army) by having campaign challenges/quests that further buffed units or campaign mechanics, it would encourage people to try both playstyles, with his end goal being protecting the isolationism of Ulthuan and focusing on immediate threats like Malekith/ pirates.
Do you try to focus on economy & confederation and being a strong leader, or do you take up the sword at the risk of rebellions & internal strife to rule through sheer raw power?
His campaign sort of allows for this choice already, I’d just like to see it highlighted through guided campaign storybeats & rewards. You can also theoretically mix & match and while you take his economic skills you also take sword of khaine campaign benefits from taking the sword up. Rule how you see fit and make better choices than he did during the end times.

Tyrion is not a ruler. He's the Phoenix King's main general and enforcer. The reason for the split between peaceful support and war leader is because of his looming decision to stay loyal to the king or go down the path that ultimately doomed his ancestor Aenarion (the first Phoenix King). Clearly that needs to be better communicated in the game. Though I'd be up for having him seize power if he grabs the Sword of Khaine.
We desperately need a Phoenix Court mechanic so people can interact with Finubar.
I'm also really annoyed at the High Elf AI. There's Demons, Dark Elves, undead Pirates and Orcs on Ulthuan and the first things that happens are the High Elf Kingdoms going to war with each other.

You could just use influence to train up existing lords and turn those negative traits neutral and finally positive. Make it slightly less expensive than buying an equivalent lord ready to go and have a 5 turn cd between training so you can't get cheaper lords with huge buffs in one turn late game.

They should rework White Lions into a tier 4 unit like Swordmasters, but make them into a more defense-buffer unit that buffs lords and heroes (along with what they have and logical since they are supposed to be the Phoenix King's bodyguards).
Add in the remaining units + some fun ones like Merwyrm variants (also for Dark Elves like the Pagowyrm).
Give Tyrion a Defender of Ulthuan mechanic that makes his provinces harder to crack.
Give Teclis a roided-up combination of Kislev's Ice Court mechanic and Gelt's College of Magic mechanic (not to mention Loremaster generic lords...because Loremasters were lords until they made them into heroes, so add a lord variant and call it something else).
Give Ariel some of the current WElf mechanics (also allow other HElf factions to construct her unique Worldroot landmark and recruit forest spirits).
Give Alith Anar some additional assassination-themed mechanics (maybe a modded Sniktch Shadow Dealings mechanic in terms of spreading terror and destabilizing provinces...minus selling your services and deleting whole factions). Also make Tor-Anlec allow HElf factions to recruit Shadow Stalkers (and give Alith Anar additional unique bonuses to them, Shadow Warriors and Lore of Shadows Mages and Archmages).
Give Eltharion more options for his Batcave and allow HElf factions to recruit Tomb Kings-style his unique units in limited numbers if you get either North or South Tor-Yvress.
Give Imrik more dragons. Maybe even unique quests to persuade and redeem a Chaos Dragon and a Chaos Frost Dragon (formerly a Frost Wyrm until CA took that and gave it to the new Kislev unit...not to mention this being Imrik, he would try and succeed). Maybe even allow him to recruit all the Dragon types if he manages to recruit any of the non-Uthuan Dragons (as in defeat Shackolot and Bruwor allows him to recruit Black and Forest Dragons). Not to mention each unique Dragon would give him additionally a faction-wide buff to all his usual Dragons (plus the usual non-Ulthuan ones too) that would give them unique stuff (like bound spells and such).
Give HElves in general a HElf version of the politicking mechanic the Chaos Dwarfs have.

    2. Caradrian Captain of the Phoenix Guard as LH
    3. Sea Helm as a generic lord option
    4. Anointed of Asurian as generic hero option. Basically a Warpriest for HE
    5. Merwyrm. Big NON-flying monster.
    6. Skycutter as flying artillery.
    7. Cothique Silver Helms. In lore they train their horses to keep balance on ship deck, so they can have cavalry for boarding actions. I imagine them being melee cavalry in game.
8 and 9. Couple infantry units. Maybe Lothern Sea Guard with sword or something.

Honestly I like the tech unlocked by resource buildings. What could be cool, though, is unlocking them through trade, since that would reward the player for playing like lore accurste elves.
The Tower of Zharr thing is interesting, for both High and Dark elves, but I don't think I enjoy that much the mechanic as is. It fits for the Dawi Zharr but fighting over small, irrelevant bonuses with the other elves sounds tiresome. Maybe it could be adapted in a way that fits them more.
Teclis would really benefit from a confederation quest like Imrik's, maybe with Saphery. Then Switch the court mechanic with something more magic-ky and update it for Tyrion and Alarielle and there, done.
    Griffins for nobles.

As far as the lords and influence for the good ones go, I think it could be fun to have a system where your lords start with no trait at all, as newly "crowned" nobles and generals, and as they level up, you get to spend influence to "acquire followers or specialties" in a sense being how that lord would spend his time in court.
"Spent a lot of time and influence befriending chracians, you get lions pelt passive and bonuses for their units, the white lions, bought an Ellyrian steed, bonus move speed and charge bonus for army"
Things like that, in an ideal world, that would lead to having semi unique characters that could go as far as becoming specific kingdoms princes/princesses, so a chracian prince would be more armor piercing, foot lord, could have a white lion companion kinda like skarsnik, an ellyrian prince, limited to elyrian steeds or maybe pegasi, and so on, the kingdoms are meant to be so unique and different in culture and their approach to warfare in their most unique units (not the militia spears and bows the standing military) it'd be awesome if you could have your lords embrace that, and I think it'd be an excelent way to include the "missing kingdoms" that dont have LL currently because most likely we wont be getting all the "rulers" for each kingdom

Give sea caravans to this lord would allow for the High Elves sea trade to be in the game while also giving other naval focused races and lords, Vampire Coast and Lokhir, something to do while at sea that isn't traveling to specific points for a reward or battle.
And the Pheonix Court could be interesting with lords like Alarielle and Tyrion vying for the Phoenix King's favor to push their own agenda, protecting Ulthuan for Alarielle and rebuilding the High Elf domain for Tyrion.

The problems with influence is that the early game you don't have anywhere near enough and then by mid game (like turn 50+) you have more than you can spend unless you are dropping hundreds of it to influence a faction to not declare war on you, and even then it takes some time for the full effect to take place so there's still the risk of them declaring war anyways.

The Phoenix Court would be a great addition to the High Elves.
For Tyrion, I would give him something like the Dwarves' Great Book of Grudges (roll credits), like destroying Malekith and his faction giving you a new landmark somewhere commemorating this defeat of his hated enemy, or owning Marienburg or having an Ally own it getting massive Trade Tariff bonuses, a great way to farm Influence since Tyrion is the one who be playing the Court the most methinks.
For Teclis, when Khuresh is unlocked, I would move him to the Gates of Caliph to get him out of the Southlands Thunderdome, and to provide Aislinn (who should start in the Eastern Colonies) another close by High Elf Ally along with Imrik. And yes, give him the Colleges of Magic system, for sure.
Every thing else sounds gravy, except I'm still primed for the 3rd faction in a Slaanesh/HElf matchup be Cathay.

  • @Timberjac
    @Timberjac 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

What the game needs to really be an "immortal" empire, is that there are population counters for each empire. In elves (any subtype), small birth rates, an immense time in adulthood (which would be the recutable soldiers) and that would mean a maximum to the size of the armies and that as they die they cease to be available. In dwarves, basically the same, with similar birth rates, also a long time of adulthood, but with deaths.
In humans and other "human" peoples, high birth rates, but a moderately short lifespan. And in the Skaven and greenskins, very high birth rates in the case of the Skaven very short life and in the Orks a little longer. The deaths as they followed would be both of the adult unused civilians and of the unused troops, which would have to be replaced by less experienced soldiers.
Thus, over time, units with very high experience would be regulated, being something more typical of elves and dwarves, except in times of conflict. Of the pool of adulthood, a larger percentage in the case of "civilians" modified by racial values and by different policies would give rise to new births. As a result, long and fruitless wars are more destructive for elves and dwarves. being a very painful disastrous defeat, while in other breeds, it's more just a matter of time to recover. Certain sub-races such as the Dark Elves or Sylvans with much smaller numbers than their tall cousins, would require slaves and to turn captured children into loyal serfs or to capture new territories of their race, with which, the "cultural" war would be more important, for these groups, as well as the creation of vassal states of other races.
And people like Chaos would require either sacrifices to summon demons, or to have sects or vassal states from which to get new "adults."
And the servants of the ancestors may have had really high reproduction and death rates in saurians and skinks. Being a case halfway between the orcs and the skaven.
So everyone would have a more limited number of armies, their losses or non-losses would matter and especially elves and dwarves could lose "the campaign" if they only have losses and more losses of adult population. But on the other hand, it would be much easier for them to maintain units that have been experienced for centuries.

High elves, like all factions that take a long time to receive new DLC, begin to fall behind little by little and require larger and larger updates the more time passes.
Merwyrms in 8th edition were divided into three subspecies, it is possible that the HE will get all three variants seeing how they have ended up with three types of dragons and phoenix.
Many of the infantry units of the marine patroI I doubt will be included. Seeing how CA decided to represent the dragon mage, that's why I would be surprised to see mist mages or lothern sea rangers. Three variants of merwyrm could compensate for that lack of content. I imagine that an LH will also be included, possibly Caradryel, two would be better (and all factions should have at least two as a minimum in the roster), but one seems the standard per faction in each DLC.
Aislinn has never had rules in Warhammer, but seeing the remaining HE content, its popularity and that the missing HE characters are all heroes, I think she has possibilities. In End Times she summoned an army of merwyrms, perhaps in the TW she can summon a Merwyrm in the campaign, it wouldn't be more broken than Malakai summoning the thunderbargue.
As fleet admiral Aislinn would have an excuse to be away from Ulthuan, giving him an interesting starting position. Possibly close to Lokhir who is his archenemy.
Ideally HE should expand their intrigue system, receive something new to replace the lost campaign mechanic of viewing allied territories (Sea Caravans would be unique and fit perfectly with the faction's lore) and each faction, ideally have their own unique mechanic . Tyrion and Teclis need a unique mechanic for their factions, focused on political management for Tyrion and magic for Teclis.
Influence should be able to be used to gain control of other factions' armies, although possibly at a very high cost.
Court Intrigues was an army rule in one of the editions for HE, so it would be very interesting if they implemented a mechanic that reflected this, giving losses and gains of Influence or similar effects. The Phoenix King is not a playable character, so competing for his favor works very well regarding lore.
Imrik and Eltharion have so they could do without any tweaks or additions, although they would be welcome.
Alith anar would benefit from more and better mechanics but it's not really necessary.
Alarielle I think he really needs something more than what he currently has.
Both legendary and generic characters need to update their skill trees to TW3 standards as seen with other races that have received DLC such as dwarves or imperials.
A possible mechanic for all factions is to "train" their characters to eliminate negative traits or improve existing ones after recruiting them or perhaps take the idea of "Honors" from old HE army books and allow the characters to earn one in the campaign. to give them a second trait to benefit from. Similar to devotions but impacting the character more than his troops.

I think the biggest problem for the High Elves is the confederation system and the loss of the special abillities of the confederated faction and the uselessness of some skilltree lines after confederation. Alarielle, Eltharion and Alith Anar have no acces more to their special units.
Tyrion needs a reworked skilltree as well. Teclis on the arcane phoenix is just absurd.

  • @JakubZN
    @JakubZN 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

Lord/hero trait issue - how about we get an option to retrain them somehow to get better traits? Like now you have a bad traited lord levelled to level 30 and you just don't use them anymore because of bad trait. You could have an option to spend influence for them to be taken on missions and quests or training to get a good trait.

  • @Firestata84
    @Firestata84 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

Hmmm, Tyrion should be the only one with a Phoenix court mechanic (as Chaos dwarfs, but unique to him) whereas Teclic should be the one with a mechanic that gives him unique magical items and/or spell uppgrades if he reconquers elven colonies (to represent lost lore recovered) as well as better wizards (say 2 strong, positive traits instead of 1 for the influence you are paying).
The tech tree is fine as it is - but some building pre-requisites should be removed. Honestly, I think the tech rewards for resources should be higher, but impossible to research unless you have the resource - maybe 3 tech steps, one for each level of the resource (tier 1, 2 and 3 building) you control.
As for influence - I would increase the requirements even further, to make it harder to get good lord and heroes, but maybe add a mechanic where you can buy 1-3 random/semi-random traits later for lots of influence.

They could start with 60 influence just to garantee a good 2nd lord.

I agree..... I remember High Elves was hard to beat... Now i can go through Ulthuan with Slaanesh and Vampire Coast in 20 turns... Something needs to be done about High Elves.

Regarding Tyrion. He should get something similar to the Skarsnik/Belegar Ironhammer/Queek Headtaker intertwined campaign.
In Tyrion's case, some "race" between Malekith's attempt to become the Phoenix King (conquer Ulthuan + Plotting) and Tyrion trying to secure Ulthuan + unite the High elves to become the Phoenix King.
They could redesign Kislev's political race, and take inspiration from Paris vs Hector from Total War Troy (except they are allowed to attack each other).

We really need the Phoenix Court mechanic when I look at how many people think Tyrion is supposed to become the Phoenix King. Everyone ignores Finubar.

How about Finubar over Aislinn, I love them both I just really want the king himself. Caradryan could be the LH as well.

Belanner would be great also for a legendary hero

For Tyrion I would give him the end times lore were he becomes the king of the dark elf’s ak a Malus dark blade like mechanic become anerion the champion of khain or resist his curse and become instead the fênix king . So you could either get a high elf dark elf hybrid faction or get to buff the ever living hell out of elf’s units

I get the sea lord as a choice for new lord, but unless they do something with the random pirates and the seas themselves(more storms/monsters/sharks ect) , kinda pointless.
