Markus is pretty broken after the ToD, not only you cannot receive the dlc units with from imperial supplies, the engineers boosts(both trait, for example hochland scopes and skill tree wise) does not even work on the units received from the imperial supplies, just try it yourself, try to get some warwagons for example from imperial supplies and then recruit one normally, then put engineer hero in your army and you’ll see that only the normally recruited one gets the boosts. as for Repanse, the water is one of the most useless/outdated mechanics in the game, not only the settlements are so close to one another that you can go between them in 1 turn, you can also get the immunity to desert attrition from the great desert of araby special building
My first (and still to this day favorite) twwh3 campaign was as Oxyotl because I couldn't resist playing as this adorable lil chameleon that happens to be the WH equivalent of Doom Guy. It remains my favorite because he's, in my opinion, the herald of the Order Tide. I can literally just teleport all over the world and fuck up chaos at my whim (kinda).
idk man, feels like it takes so damn long to be able to stack you're better units. By then it's already just a matter of painting the map red...Would be better if the "better" units actually had weaker stats that required buffs through the armament mechanic
kinda surprised to not see N'kari on here. In terms of literally being Unique, he's the only Slaanesh lord, for one, and his campaign plays like none other.
He definitely belongs on this list. Creating vassals via seduction. Seducing units before battle. Just being a Daemon faction that starts on Ulthuan is interesting.
The changeling really needs to have an option in the vanilla game to start in a random theatre of war. It's one of my favorite factions because of how much you can just screw with the rest of the world and effect things. I just wish the schemes would be more grandiose for what you execute in the theatre of war.
I will mention my 2 favorite campaigns: Drycha and the Sisters of Twilight. Both get you away from the rather easy location of Athel Loran. Drycha has some unique challenges with her Debuffs and being near Sylvania and stuff. But also she gets instant forest spirit recruits and stars with an amber and Melvolent Tree folk. While the Sisters are in a rough neighborhood but also get the excellent forge of Daith and are an Artillery Lord.
I used to kinda hate dwarf campaigns (Endless underway merry-go-round with greenskins in the mountains and crappy grudge mechanics on your allies) but Malakai has been an absolute blast for me. Between his missions and legendary grudges, plus all the instant recruitment/ Gotrik + Felix/ Ulrika and other OP stuff, he has been one of the few campaigns where I was like "let's just keep going until Order rules this world. We got stuff to do over in those mountains anyway." Grombrindal with a Fire-only army ( + all the Oathgold stuff and grudge settler units) kept me busy for a good 50 turns atleast :P Ungrim with all the Slayer buffs and new units was also just fantastic.
Just 4 Airships in your army and you literally win any battle. Also the shotgun cannon skill is so good. Cannons end up stronger than those flamethrower cannons.
Yeah I played him because Kairos has a really tough start, but it's the opposite problem for the Changeling. I entertained myself by making it my mission to keep certain LLs like Vlad or Ikit alive. His allied recruitment skills are very strong so you can recruit top-tier units from other factions right away if you build the diplomacy building. I enjoyed it for a little while but it is true that the complete inability of the AI to discover your hidden armies/cults (since they never build lookout buildings) does take away the sense of urgency. A fun concept would probably be to play coop with a friend or two and use symbiotic buildings on them to see how much you can buff their economy, then have them handle some max strength endgame crises.
Nice list and reasonable choices. Might be a personal preference, but i would have also added Sisters of Twilight. Unlike almost all other campaigns, this one isn't about painting map with your team color. Instead you choose what part of the map (and local natives) you want to fight in now and just hop around with your army reviving trees. Order in which you do that is entirely up to you so replaying this doesn't get repetitive as replaying other factions and you will almost always be outnumbered so there will be some challenge even later on, when normally you would be snowballing with doomstacks by turn 50
Espousing the virtues of The Thousand Maws campaign as I play them to tackle The Crisis is such a treat…once? Nah homie, try “everyone should play Rakarth’s campaign at least three-four times” the unit variety available, dependent on what parts of the map you focus your efforts on, should make for a different campaign nearly every time out. Utilizing any mods that expend the Monster Pen “roster” just adds to that even more
Oxyotl and Skarsnik are my all time favorite campaigns. They really feel totally differently than their basic faction platstyles like Mazdamundi or Grimgor. Both are honestly OP when used correctly and you lean on their strengths.
I know I'm in the minority but the Changeling campaign has probably been my favourite Total War experience so far. Mostly because of all the flavour of messing with other factions without actually conquering them.
1:30 You can't do it as long as you want because the momentum gained scales very fast with battles won in the same turn, and once you get to the third rampage reward you're _forced out_ of your rampage and can no longer regain movement.
N'kari has a fantastic gameplay loop of hero spawning to vassalize an area. Hit the button to spawn a cult in random areas, make the building that creates a hero, send the hero to make another cult, make the hero building again. Do this until the area is over run with cults, change them all to be the one that gives more vassalization points, use the heroes to corrupt the Lords....and then delete all the heroes 🤷🏼♂️ You can corrupt and vassalize all of cathay withiut leaving the donut
I know it’s been 2 months but the addition of units from the shadows of change dlc, in my opinion, meaningfully strengthens the respective other kislev, Cathay, and tseetch campaigns. Kislev gets new low tier units that diversify gameplay and potential strategies, as well as more late and mid game options. Cathay’s casters and hero’s get more mount options and more monster units. Tseetch also gets more ranged, monstrous, and melee options. Not to mention the fact that campaign for ostenkya is pretty good and yuan Bo’s is one of the best in the game. Changling hasn’t really sparked my interest so I haven’t played it but it is definitely unique, just seems a bit too easy. It launched in a terrible state, and was more expensive than it should have been at that time with the content they presented. However, the new unit additions and campaign improvements since release make it at the very least worth the cost imo. It is comparable in cost to other dlcs at the very least. At this point I think whether it is “worth it” is based on one’s personal preference.
@@Calamity4 I think CA finally got someone in the room as emergency reputation repair The new pharaoh expansion was free and imo very good if you like historical titles The most recent wh3 dlc had different price points and was very good imo I think they realized in a recession you shouldn't kill you cash cow

This game is horribly optimised so make sure to not get something too basic if you want to play on the highest settings. But it is fking amazing and well worth getting
Oxyotl is a fun campaign until you do a few of his visions and the campaign map drops to like 10fps. Makes doing any diplomacy or just looking around painfully bad.
Malakai has ruined every other campaign for me. Between the Legendary Grudges and his Adventures you truly have your own sandbox adventure. Every other faction/LL that simply has to defeat X/Y/Z faction and conquer a gazillion settlements to win just seem soooooo goddamn boring in comparison. I keep trying to play other factions, but Malakai just keeps luring me back.
Really wish i could enjoy Oxyotl, cool campaign mechanics but terrible roster, like can someone just give his campaign to Alith Anar so i can stalk stance my enemies to death with shadow walkers, chameleon skinks have no range and are just godawful to use in comparison.
'chameleon skinks have no range and are just godawful to use' Skilled players are usually very fond of chameleon skinks though. Not to mention the special ammo from Oxyotl in his campaign.
You can buff skink speed heavily and they can fire while moving They aren't supposed to be back like range units they're harass and ambush Really good to pull lines apart as the AI normally just throws a big line of infantry at you with the occasional flank from cav
nice video, but i think the majority of players really hate playing as markus wulfheart It just crap that the game is unplayable for some players.. those random crash after battles is pretty annoying...
markus is so...weak, he's ok lord can't receive new units even with new dlc the absurd enemy's buffs are too much stupid idea but i hope someone makes a mod that replaces the markus hunters with uberseik 5 for the funny idk
Is the crash specific to old hardware? Or that campaign? Just played a wulfhart campaign no issues. The challenge with his campaign Rn is reinforcements are bugged If you get imperial supply troops in an army none of the hero or Lord buffs apply Plus lustria just feels bad
I get why the Changeling is number 1 in terms of being unique, but honestly I found the campaign really boring myself and it ended up feeling like a chore that I had to do to get to the final battle. There's just no challenge to the campaign at all, as unless you do something really stupid you literally cannot lose
Agreed, but at least it's unique. It definitely belongs on number one on this list. There is no other campaign as unique as The Changeling, because no other campaign feels like you're playing creative mode. There's no threat or challenge. It kinda sucks big time.
