Just got warhammer a couple days ago and couldn't figure out why I was losing all my battles, even against garrisons when I had multiple full armies. Had no idea lothern sea gaurd were a ranged unit and was trying to frontline with them to the point I had my capital set up to recruit them at level 9. tysm for the guide
Regarding eagle claw bolt thrower. Not entirely sure switching to single bolt is better for large single target monsters. Using the multishot will still yield more damage if targeting the likes of dragons and hydras.
That early game army composition is really not that great. 8 spearmen are far more than you need to hold the line. I'd go with 4 and a noble for some melee punch. The Reavers are also surplus to requirements. You don't need cavalry to hunt down enemy ranged if your ranged can simply do it better. Take the mage lord, a noble, 4-5 spearmen and fill out the rest with archers. This comp can carry you well into the mid and even late game once you add a couple bolt throwers.... Also instead of shadows I'd always go for lore of life. Heals are never not great and dwellers from below is simply OP
I used to use spearmen a lot too, but I found rangers to be pretty tough while also being great at cutting down other cheap infantry. Nobles are great at killing single entities.
some of his comps are kinda crazy imo but i mean everyone can play the game how they want i agree with ur statement ive come to find that heroes are much better too hold down 2-3 groups of units with rest missile troops
Which lord and hero traits are worth looking out for? High elf traits are so much more numberous and different than everyone else that I’m never sure if I’m missing the good ones.
For Archmages you can get Thunderbolt as trait, or miasma and enfeebling foe witht the negator trait, pretty fun with them having chain lighting at level 10 too
I was honestly thinking, Colonel Damneders, that technically, the eagle and Ilthimar Chariot mounts for the master hero of the High Elves are mixed up of their stats. I would love to suggest if maybe you can switch the stats of the Eagle and those of the Ilthimar Chariot around so that the Ilthimar Chariot and Eagle stats can be correct, for sometimes I get confused between the two mounts for the master hero.
How do you get influence fast enough to not be forced to recruit shit lords and heroes for your second army? Are you always forced to use your heroes on the campaign map to gamble money for the possibility of gaining influence instead of getting to enjoy using them in your army?
To suggest that Alariel is a better fighter than Teclis is such blasphemy, Teclis is the premier caster in the game. Just the sheer amount of passive augments and how much he reduces the cost of his spells allows him to constantly cast spells till he runs out of magic. And Arcane Phoenix >>>>>>>> Great Eagle. Also, the video acknowledges that the High Elvens roster's biggest strength is their range, yet we're going down the route of a "balanced army." It's not really cost-efficient. A balanced army costs a lot more and will take a lot more to recruit and attain in the long run. You constantly need to reinforce, replenish, and slow down your campaign because your frontline is constantly getting battered. A niche army and well crafted one is better than a balanced army. A Tier 0 High Elven Archer will beat down a Tier 4 Swordmaster of Hoeth before those melees reach the frontline to do damage. Also, trying to make sense of cavalry with the High Elves is so pointless, they have so many ways of filling in that role.
You are the best total war Warhammer TH-cam in the entire world
But hs recommands really shitty army comps
That title goes to LegendofTotalWar

Hey, just passing by to say that i really love your videos, keep up the good work.
Really good explained intro into the high elves 👌🏽
Best army comp: Imrik, Mikbaela the best fire mage, Life mage hiding in the bushes, 17 star dragons
I really wish other mages other than fire wizards would get dragon mounts. Heck, a great eagle would be wonderful.

great content, really well made guide and I appreciate all the effort that went into this video!

Sterile, boring min maxer against retarded AI. Cringe.

There is a mistake, Imrik starts mounted, only one that does that. But guess you could remove the mount.
The nobles ithilmar chariot looks like a great Eagle!
Thanks for vid!
Is there a dark elf video somewhere that’s up to date I keep looking at can’t find them. These videos are absolutely great
Nice 1, thank you.
Just one question, why in the army composition did you go for mage of shadows and not fire?
Pendulum
Lore of Shadows is kinda broken
Dark Elves next? Maybe? Plz?
Why armored archers over archers? More expensive for a unit that shouldn't see combat
More armor from other archers maybe
@@christianmoore7932 it was for auto resolves

I always run with 4 bolt thrower units and a lot of ranged. You can ruin enemy moral before they even hit your spearmen.
Why not just more dragons and use breath for the same effect
@christianmoore7932 more susceptible to ranged attack from the enemy
21:44 here you are turning the direction of the spell how do you do that? That is possible 😮?
Click, hold, drag with left click to aim spells
I love these videos of yours, have you done Bretonnia for TW3?
is there a reason alastar the white lion cannot sit propably on a mount? it looks a bit dumb^^ 4:45
I know it's an old video but I just got into TWW3, isn't the army comp largely dependant on what lord you pick?
You've got some of the unit tiers confused, but a great vid :)
Yeah, I guess if I could say one bad thing about them, it's that they only have *serviceable* artillery.
Some of those Legendary Lord models should really not be looked so close. Those poor gryphons...
Just get Dragon doomstack and rule the world.
so this mainly for one elf legendary lord?
Beast-men?

Get nobles + level up outposts
Great vid man but the comps are awful on anything above Normal battle difficulty
U have to swallo ur spit mang

Nope nope nope best way to win is to get 9 of any frontline maylee unit, then 10 sisters of avelorn
Lothern Sea Guard with shields is a tier 3 unit...
The chariots come in 2 varieties, tier 3 and tier 4, not tier 2 and 3. Dragon Princes are tier 5, not tier 3.
Check the symbol next to the unit size. It says tier 3 for Dragon Princes, for instance. You’re thinking building tier.
gotta love it when ppl comment when they dont even play the game
Sisters of Averlorn is only tier 3 for Alarielle, for the rest of the Lords they are tier 4. You actually played the game?
Wh3 changed all units to T1-T3. You actually played the game?
