Exactly. This and the Knuckles prolong short made me want a series done in this style pronto. There's so much love and effort put into it! I hope that if the third film does well enough, and other Sonic projects keep gaining traction, we'll eventually get a series like this.

This is gonna sound stupid, but i LOVE that shadow is getting frustrated at the beginning, because its clearly more earned. Hes not angry because "ooh, im edgy", he's angry because the reason he was built, and why he was immune to all known diseases, was to cure maria, but its not working.

Doesn't sound stupid at all, honestly cause Shadow sounds angry and frustrated for a legit reason, he wants to help Maria so badly, but can't figure out why nothing's helping her. This is how Shadow should be portrayed, and not Mr. Edgy and going "Cowards run, and I win " (That's still one of his dumbest moments...)

@ryankay3060 Same, he's too monotone with his delivery. Just saw the Japanese version and the VA actually sounds like they are frustrated in their delivery. I don't understand why the English VAs don't get good voice directing.

Emerl coming back is SUCH a deep dive and I love that they are paying that close attention. We needed this plot point elaborated for so long I am absolutely thrilled.
If Emerl’s back, then that likely means Sega remembers Sonic Battle. Imagine what it would be like if that game got a remake.

The animation for this Shadow short is AMAZING. And the scene with Maria hugging Shadow was so heartwarming that it had me in tears. Cuz it shows how much they are like siblings than just best friends.

This was just beautiful from start to finish. The love Shadow had for Maria has no limits. And my favorite part of this is how deeply you can feel that truth along the entire animation… You can feel it ALL. His frustration, their hope, the friendship, the tragedy, the love undertones… EVERYTHING! They completely nailed it! And the way Shadow is so vulnerable with Maria… she was literally his entire universe. And it’s beautiful to finally see their bond in action

Me too. ❤ This is like a repeating memory of them from Sonic X for me. When I was little, I thought Shadow and Maria were... more than just close friends/sibling bond, but maybe I was wrong. I'm not sure, it's still a mystery within me or to me.

I think that of all the "3D anime" visuals I've seen, this is by far the best, it's so natural that there are times when it looks like 2D. Congratulations Sega, knowing how to invest the money you got with Frontiers, I just hope the game is good.

Emerl is my favorite character in the Sonic franchise, and I've gotta be honest, I wasn't really sure I'd see him again. Seeing his past with Shadow acknowledged makes me INCREDIBLY excited!! I love how we immediately get to see him copy Shadow's kick, too

My guess is this is all a memory illusion by Black Doom, he even showed Shadow a flashback of he and Maria trying to escape.

The way Maria caresses his face and how even the camera focuses on Shadow's reaction LIKE I CAN'T-
Shadow respected her, cared for her a lot and was a complete gentleman towards her. He LOVED her. For me this is not simple friendship or “a brother-sister thing”. I can see why even Maekawa, their creator based them on a tragic love story. The scenes speak for themselves and no one is ever gonna change my mind. Shadaria foreverrrr ❤️

You can pet a hedgehog quite easily if it's calm or accepts you. The quills become more hazardous when they are standing on end in a defensive stance. Even if Shadow is angry about something, he probably instinctively softens his quills when Maria hugs him.

Great teaser and I love the animation style! It's really well made! 🙂 However, there was one little bit that took me out of it and that was the sound effect when Maria grabbed his hand. At first, I thought it sounded like a crushing sound. I was half expecting Shadow to go "AAAAAAAAHHH!!!! MY HAND!!!!" 🤣

Tbf Kirk's performance in the past I never considered to be his fault. It's pretty easy to spot bad voice acting due to talent vs bad voice acting due to bad direction.
Obsessed Shadow fan since day one here, Kirk's my new favorite Shadow voice. All the grit of Jason, with all the heart of Humphrey. SEGA's had a true gem these past 10+ years and done absolutely nothing with him. So glad Kirk is finally getting a chance to actually BE Shadow...the real one, not that one that just mopes and complains all the time

Tbh there is no reason why that shouldn't be possible. Time traveling is a thing but Shadow has moved on from the pain of Maria's death. Undoing that has to be more accidental on Shadow's end. It also has to be done in a way that Shadow still thinks Maria died on the arc until the time displacement happens in his personal timeline or it completely retcons every game involving Shadow. Though I guess 06 retcons itself so...
