  • Arching does not come naturally for most people. Practice the neutral skydiving body poisiton at home with this step-by-step guide.
We begin by standing up since it is simply easier on your back. Begin by finding space along a blank wall and then do the following:
    1. Stand about a foot from the wall with knees slightly bent.
    2. Lean into the wall so that only your pelvis touches it.
    3. Look up at the ceiling.
    4. Push up onto your tiptoes.
    5. Add your arms lazily in the 90-90 position.

Thank you. I have spine injury which makes this really hard for me, but now I know how to exercise at home so I could develop my arch position in the air 🙏🏻

Thank you for this. One note- it's going to the be quadriceps that will resist the wind pressure. Again, thank you.

You are correct! To keep the legs at ~45 degrees involves the quads and glutes as well.

Thank you so much! Why are the wrists limp?

      Great question!
I like to emphasize “limp wrists” so that my students think about keeping a relaxed upper body. Many times body tenseness shows up in the hands and one of the hardest things to learn is how to stay relaxed in freefall. 😊

Wish I had seen this before I started, I hated practicing the arch on the ground. I actually used an ottoman and laid over it facing the ceiling, but that was more about getting my 50 year old back to stretch more than strengthening the muscles!
