as a gym coach, I think this is an awesome video - lots of great drills / progressions with focus on safety, strength and quality improvement of the skill. nice work!
It is SO helpful when you show you not doing a technique (e.g. compression) and then doing it. Most people only demonstrate the technique and not the lack of technique, and it makes a big difference to my ability to see what you're actually doing when you compare the two. Great video - thank you!
Susan Jean Thank you so much!!! Yes I find that super helpful too. I also find it helpful to film my attempts so I know what to correct when I’m working new skills
1)Put hands under shoulders 2) press shoulders against the wall (this puts your body in the right rounded out position)i.e. not banana 3) make sure you have a decent straddle split 4) roll hips up to handstand while pressing shoulders against the wall 5) press lower back into wall 6) roll hips back down, touch toes lightly to ground & press back up. This builds your strength in your fingers & wrists which is essential, to balance. You want to stretch your wrists well before practicing presses. * the reason press handstand's are so difficult for her is because she's overly relying on arm strength, & it's a beautiful press handstand & perfectly executed, with good form; but not everyone possesses that upper body strength. * I'm a former Elite gymnast/Coach & my 8 yr olds learn their presses against the wall & they are tiny. It's a strength to weight ratio skill, like all gymnastics. The key is your fingers control the balance. Tight butt & lower back against the wall head down keeps your body in alignment (as she shows) & focus on your fingers which are the only thing that can control your balance once you hit the handstand. Your wrists will bend& help in the transition to handstand. You learn this quickly on beam & bars. It's easy & learned by young children early in gymnastics. Massive upper body strength doesn't come into play until you start from a seated straddle position on the floor, & no matter your level of flexibility it's a strength move. (I hated those). From the feet position it's mostly in the fingers & best learned against the wall in my experience, which is strictly gymnastics. When you get the strength in your fingers & balance, do it away from the wall. If you lose your balance & fall backwards, tuck your head & roll out. Make sure you aren't on a hard floor.❤✌

I think these are really accessible for me at my current level. I believe the hollow body/round back tip is the most helpful also the tip about starting with feet closer together in order to stack the hips. I can’t wait to do this tonight! Especially that first exercise🔥🙀
WOW Gina. I think this may be the best press handstand video ever. Congrats. Your form demos are right on target, along with your tips and drills. This video is so helpful! Thank you so much for so many practical tips... everything you said made sense and for those like me, trying handstands for the first time, your hints are absolutely on point.
Great tips Gina, thank you. I've been trying for about a year now. When you mentioned keeping a hollow body while going into handstand position, I'll be drilling that. Thanks :-)
Really great tips! I especially like the drill done from the floor with the hands on the wall to really give the feeling of the full range of motion of the legs and hips even for people who don't have the arm strength yet. I also really liked how clear your postural "do" and "don't" cues are. I have nowhere near your strength or flexibility, but I can do a jump handstand from down-dog. The one tip I have that isn't in your video (or maybe it is and I didn't hear it) is the concept of "push down to go up." I start from soft elbows and as I exhale and firm the core, I emphasize pressing the hands down into the floor; that makes the legs go up with much less effort. Again, I'm working from a jump rather than a press because I don't have your flexibility or strength, but I wonder if it might also be useful in the context of a press and would be interested to hear what you think. Great channel. I subscribed.
Yes! I do love that tip and it would have been great to include! I'm sad I didn't think of it at the time. I talk a little bit about pushing tall in my handstand tutorial but you are 100% right. It is a huge part of the press! Thanks so much for the comment and for watching this video! I will definitely have to add that to my future videos!

Hi!! i have been practicing them and i have improved a lot. I am able to do it against the wall now :D i wanted to ask you which would be my next step, because right now i feel a little bit figthening doing it without wall. Thanks!!
Blanca García Hi!!! Make sure your free standing handstand is solid before attempting without the wall. If you want to continue practicing drills I would do the small lift from straddle without the wall. That drill should really help build even more shoulder strength so that eventually the rest will be easy!
This is the first time that I've made the connection between the hollow body rock and the handstand position. The drills that you showed were extremely helpful. So to borrow a Rick Ross quote but use it for handstand tutorials. This is "the best that I've seen thus far." Lol....but seriously very accurate.

@@GinaScarangella Hi, I looked for a reply you made to increase the chance of you reading my comment, which has nothing to do with the post you commented on originally. You've done well and you're in quite good shape. A way I've found to get more strength in the muscles used to perform the " Goku push-up" handstand push-ups, is take the form of downward dog, making sure to look forward while bending the arms back, towards your knees as you press down. If you let the go to your sides it'll work your chest There are underlying muscles that I can't remember the name of in our backs and core. They're responsible for how much weight the other muscle groups can carry, lift and work with. Push-up stiff armed moving only the shoulders works them one way, the other is hanging on a bar, tensing them and lifting the body with that part alone. While still hanging, pick your legs up and from side to side make an arc movement, slowly with fluidity. If you've read this far, thank you. I hope you have success with these as I have. And thank you for being so damned beautiful, well informed and I especially admire your commitment to achieve your goals. Those are hard ass push-up to do for anyone. I just got back into working out again after a 3 months break period. I'm putting muscle on for the first time in mass and I'm working on my strengths and weaknesses. Good luck miss Gina the beautiful.

Amazing, keep up the inspiration! You make it look so easy! Pure skill.
Hi!! i have been practicing them and i have improved a lot. I am able to do it against the wall now :D i wanted to ask you which would be my next step, because right now i feel a little bit figthening doing it without wall. Thanks!!
Blanca García we have the same condition✌🏻️
Blanca García Hi!!! Make sure your free standing handstand is solid before attempting without the wall. If you want to continue practicing drills I would do the small lift from straddle without the wall. That drill should really help build even more shoulder strength so that eventually the rest will be easy!
Gina Scarangella thank you very much for your help! I’m improving a lot. Love your videos ☺️☺️
This is the first time that I've made the connection between the hollow body rock and the handstand position. The drills that you showed were extremely helpful. So to borrow a Rick Ross quote but use it for handstand tutorials. This is "the best that I've seen thus far." Lol....but seriously very accurate.
Very good instruction I love the way you emphasized getting the thighs into the core I adore the puppy press and I felt the lift when I did it and I think this is really going to help me thank you so much
I love this video so much! I've seen many tutorials and tipps&tricks on the road to my press handstand but I feel you're the first that gives me the tipps I didn't already know but could be game changing!
Hi Gina,
What brand is your top? It looks cool!
Jusztina Szabó I think it’s Lulu Lemon 🤔
I don't normally comment on videos, but apart of you just being super pretty I really enjoy your authentic personality and you actually give great tips. I really look forward to trying these out in the next days!
Manu yanen Thanks so much!!!
@@GinaScarangella People who make videos actually answer comments? :D
Anyways, You're welcome!
People just don't give enough compliments.
Keep it up!
Greetings from Berlin :*
I have no interest in doing a handstand, yet I watched the whole video! 😉
Nick A Glad you liked it!!!
Whoa, so graceful

Hi, I looked for a reply you made to increase the chance of you reading my comment, which has nothing to do with the post you commented on originally.
You've done well and you're in quite good shape.
A way I've found to get more strength in the muscles used to perform the " Goku push-up" handstand push-ups, is take the form of downward dog, making sure to look forward while bending the arms back, towards your knees as you press down.
If you let the go to your sides it'll work your chest
There are underlying muscles that I can't remember the name of in our backs and core.
Excellent just what I needed video, started doing hand stands just to prove to myself I can. Your video/videos will help me forward in achieving more. Really there not easy but practised makes perfect. Thanks
Muy buenas progresiones para la invertida olímpica, corrección postural (gainage), buen aporte.

I started, on my back, toes to hands over my head 40 times a day, at 61 years young and still enjoying life, two weeks ago I did 80 out of 82 backflips on the trampolines.thomascbelanger is my You Tube channel, I'm wearing a bandana.☺ FanTom USA

@@dancassidy7471 Thanks Dan , You too.
Great tutorial 💥👌
Definitely the best I’ve seen with regards to the technical tips/aspects, progressions and caveats👏🏻🙌
Time to stack 😅😂😇!
Do we have to develop some specific muscles? Like arms or something like that?
Your core and arms from your belly to your arms
Oh, I like that beginning training move. Good one!
instructions unclear, i learned a backflip instead of the handstand
hate when that happens
Lmao 😂😂
hhahahahahahahha

🤣🤣🤣
You made me a very happy guy today. Thanks!
