    I drove an '85S2 5 speed for 19 years and miss it every day. Timeless design, near perfect reliability, and 13 second quarter miles made it a winner.
    Great video!

    My stepfather had an ‘86 928s. Beautiful red on black manual. Such a gorgeous car and my favorite of all time.

    Back in the mid 90's I worked at a Porsche dealership. We had a 1985 928. It was gold with bright red leather. It had an anniversary on the used car lot because everyone said it was ugly. We blew that car out for $10k. Wish I had that car today!

    Another odd fact: This 302 cubic inch 90 degree crossplane V8 gets compared to Chevy and Ford V8's of the same or similar displacement all the time. Problem is, this is not a "small block" engine. The bore spacing is 122 mm or 4.804 inches, which just happens to be the same as a 454 Chevy big block. It has no steel liners in the bore, the aluminum pistons are coated and run in an aluminum and silicon bore. The water jackets are huge, this accounts for the relatively small displacement. '87 and later engine blocks can be bored and stroked out to 6.4 liters. The largest that Porsche ever went with a 928 was the 5.4 liter version in the GTS models.

    At 10:36, if you look just inboard of the drivers side headlight, you will see a round black item. That is the headlight motor. The headlights are on that black shaft that runs across and the motor moves the shaft to put them up or down. You cannot have one up and one down as a result. But the interesting thing is that the headlight motor has a black rubber cover. If the motor fails and you need the headlights, you lift the rubber cover off and at the top of the motor there is a round knob, that is what the raised section in the center is. Turn the knob and you can manually raise the headlights.

    • @CarsShopsAndCollections

      I had a Pontiac Fiero and one of the headlights would get stuck up all the time… had to manually put it down or drive with one up! lol

    Fun fact that wasn't mentioned: the transmission is in the rear for better weight distribution.
    I have an '89 S4 that I'm bringing back to full glory - 58K mi 5 spd, ALL orig paint. Getting items checked off but 4 or 5 still to go. She's a hit at the car shows. "Who's the U-boat Commander?"

    I own a 928s4. That front knob by the driver’s side door is actually to adjust the angle of the headlights. For example if you’re carrying something heavy in the back, you might want to adjust the angle of the headlights down a bit.

    • @davidperdue1325
      @davidperdue1325 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Also, the rear visors are meant to block the sunlight coming from behind the rear passengers, not in front of them. They’re supposed to be extended all the way back.

    ONE of the three 928's used in Risky Business sold about a year and a half ago for $1.98 million. The car that went into the water was a fire damaged car that had no engine or interior. They painted it the gold color and put it in the lake. It was then fished out and promptly crushed.

    Had one almost identical. My ‘85 was black on black with automatic. Had the 3 piece BBS wheels painted black. Only had 2k miles when I got it. Not a drag car. A 5.0 Mustang could take it off the line but I’d beat it on a roll. Raced many C4 Vettes with it. I’d beat them on the highway. Great cars. This was the 80’s Porsche not the 911/944.
