You do a great job with your videos. At 13.33 into this one when your thinking and leave the video on, I cracked up. It's those little things that make your videos different than all the others. Your sound is always of exceptional quality. And you don't blow our eardrums out with loud intro music. Keep them coming. You should have way more subs. They will eventually show up.
Go with the lithium batteries, ditch what you don't need. Only load the boat with what you need and reprop the motor. 9.9 hp motors come with a prop that's set up for high thrust low speed for pushing larger boats around. They are set up to be trolling motors for larger boats.
Great videos. I run a big AGM battery and a led acid battery on my Tin boat but on my Old town AP120 kayak I use a Dakota lithium 100 amp hour battery . I really like the lithium batteries but you just can’t justify the cost in the boat.
a higher pitch prop will give you more speed but it won't get out of the hole very good , my 40 came with a 14 pitch but i put a 16 pitch SS prop on and went faster but took a little longer to get on top the water
The 9.9 Merc 4 cycles have an accelerator pump, and each twist of the throttle floods the engine with a shot of gasoline. Don't flood the engine, with or without the engine running.
I had problems with fuel starvation on my 8 hp mercury 4 stroke it turned out the grey fuel line inner core was disintegrating due to ethanol in the fuel.
Do you know what RPM your motor is at? I added a lot of weight to my boat too, I bought a tach, super easy to install. I found out my RPM was low so I bought the 8.9x7.5 prop and it increased my speed.
@@DudeLetsFish Amazon. Engine runs best at 5000-6000 rpm, closer to 6000 is better. The added weight lowered your rpms, going to a prop with less pitch like the 8.9x7.5 will bring your performance back up.
Awesome!! Great video my brother! Really would have liked to see you pick up the trash on video!! Could have used a small 12v game cam battery to keep electronics running for the test. A different prop is about the only thing you can change without getting real serious, but as always you lose something. Speed vs Hole Shot. If you seriously want more speed, you really need to gut the boat and go back with much lighter material, aluminum vs wood. What is your top speed on just the trolling motor? You should do some electric only tournaments. Some real sticks in them though. I fish one, some smaller water, but fun. Got an open memorial tournament for Alan Spencer who passed last year on Chickahominy Lake June 5th, you can use the gas for that one. Come on up and join us. Be a fun time!!
How about one deep cycle battery that's what I had before my 18 ft bass boat and it ran everything including an electric anchor I had my Jon boat the works even a boat radio for when the fish wasn't biting and it was tattaly amazing little 4 hp motor and trolling motor
You mentioned putting the batteries in the front, i had a 5 honda on my 16ft lund, yes i know too small. I had my huge deep cycle and car battery and gas tank in the back and the front of boat was a bit higher and not moving good. I put both batteries and tank in the front and it was flying at 7mph i didn,t check before i moved the weight but the boat was perfectly level and that made all the difference, just traded the 5 for a 9.9 yesterday, brand new i,ll get back here after its broke in and i,ll let u guys know what the top speed is with the 9 9. Comparison. UPDATE. Hey i broke in the 9.9 and for anybody who is thinking of this upgrade the 9.9 went 2 times as fast just flying at that speed, 14mph, not fast enough for me next step im going to upgrade prop from 4 blade 9.25 x 7 to a higher pitch with a 3 blade, stay tuned for the outcome
I can tell by the the sound you need to take 1-2inch of pitch of the motor as it isn’t even in the bottom of the RPM range that it needs to be! Get the RPM up to where it makes HP 💯👍🏼👌🏼
@@DudeLetsFish Get the rpm on your new motor to where it needs to be and you will always be happier! Always prop on the high side (higher RPM) as boats only ever get heavier 💯👍🏼👌🏼🇦🇺
I had to pause the video to ask a question. Why did u get rid of the Hummingbird and go with Garmin? I'm trying to figure out how to set up my boat that I bought about 3 weeks ago. My first boat ever. I'm pumped but overwhelmed with all the accessories that (can be) added.
The humminbird actually wasn’t mine, and it was an older unit. I moved the garmin to the back and will eventually network them, livescope up front full time.
@@DudeLetsFish buy the Sierra mini tach/hour meter. It's no frills but it has a (no questions asked) lifetime warranty as long as you keep the receipt. I just got my 2nd one in the mail when the 1st one broke 2 years later.

The Suzuki 9.9 can be bumped up to 20hp for another 425$. Can you do the same with the merc? Then you can put as many batterys you want. I got the Suzuki 9.9 gonna test / break it in. This weekend. And yes weight transfer and the trim. Your on the right track. Check out Suzuki!
Damm that's crazy I understand all the weight so ik it slows it down alottt but I got 12ft with 6hp and push me 16-17 mph I trying save this morning for my 12ft
@@DudeLetsFish i don,t want to argue but nothing could be further from the truth, i know i did it both ways. The other day i watched a boat moving down the river, 3 people all in the back of the boat which i thought was strange. The front of the boat was up in the air and not moving very fast and i could hear that the motor was at full throttle. The middle of the boat was pushing the water in front of it and the rear of the boat dragging in the water, both creating great resistance reducing speed and fuel milage greatly. The bottom of the boat pushing the water is creating a greater amount of drag compared to it being completely level with the water and in the water gliding over it with very very little resistance. Always distribute the weight in the boat side to side and front to back so that when on full plane the boat will be completely level. Equals best speed and best gas milage.
This is THEE BEST 9.9 outboard channel on TH-cam period.
Thanks my man!!!

Does this motor has reverse?
Yes
Theoretically the further the weight is back the faster it will go. More back weight=less boat in the water=less drag=more speed
Makes sense

Yes it was a free app, forgot what it was called
I use "Speedo-meter" and it's free.
