Warming engine before oil change is the norm, dipstick is there for a reason, so is the oil filter, spark plugs and gearbox oil are there for reasons also!
I've been a Mercury outboard man since the 80s. That motor is a huge deal here in the Ozarks. The best river motor you can find. All you need is a box of cotter pins
Any chance you might know why my 2006 9.9 Merc 4 stroke started leaking oil badly? Seems to be where the powerhead bolts on. Just looking for advice before I tear into it. This was something it recently started doing. It is a low hour motor and runs well otherwise.
after several oil changes and saving the 5 oz. I have enough on the boat to use my magma brill and a pan to have me some 10-30 oil fish fry! LOL nice vid. thx.
So I think I have this exact same engine but I cannot tell if its a 2019 or 2020. What on the tag tells you the year? Everything on google only shows up to 2006 on how to read it.
Should be a serial number on the back of your motor near the transom, get that number and call any mercury dealer and they can tell you what year it is
The 9.9 Merc 4 cycles have an accelerator pump, and each twist of the throttle floods the engine with a shot of gasoline. Don't flood the engine, with or without the engine running.
Right on. Use oil that's the correct viscosity specifically designed for outboard motors and not automotive oil. The dealers and owners manuals emphasize that Best to just use a measuring cup.
@@DudeLetsFish they look good. I meant to ask you in the trim tab video, have you run a jon boat with pods? And if so, pods or tabs? I'm wanting to put something on my 14' and I'm torn.
hi. there is no oil filter ?
Not on the 9.9’s
What size prop are you running, I have the same motor and my prop is very small.
I like your humor I learned a lot I bought a pump from my dealership so I could pop oil in from the bottom apparently that’s for the lower end portion

No oil filter on a mercury 9.9hp. (2018)

What do TRYMKLAPY with such a weak engine give with this boat?

You would think Mercury would make a drain tube that could be attached if the motor was turned the other way!
thank you !
Did you change the lower unit oil? If so was that pretty easy?
No, just the engine oil… lower unit is coming up
Good video. Thanks

Почему нельзя автомобильное ?😀
When did you paint your trim tabs?
Ohh... you seen that huh? Haha, few days ago, straight black

@@benhightowerv no to the pods, only trim tabs
2 stroke takes mixed oil or if there’s a reservoir, it doesn’t require changeout.. Great video 👍 I’m surprised there’s no oil filter…
Pretty sure that was a little sarcasm In there with the 2 stroke oil filter 😂
Thanks! Nice!
Oil filter change?
No filters in ProXS
very good video bro.
Appreciate it
Damn you, for using the manual. . . . What’s next, a ‘man bun’? 😂
Hahaha.. never!!!!
you forgot to check the new oil level !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ah damn!
no mention of drain plug socket size??? blabla. manual...
These engine companies crack me up, they couldn't design it so that you can attach a hose to where the oil drain plug is located.
I was thinking the same thing 🤷🏽♂️
Is 27-32 really 4??? Or is it 5 like the ole days?? JK JK. Good Video brother!!
🙏
4 or how many fingers you put up while you were counting. Lol. Hilarious. You got side tracked!
32 - 27 equals 5..... but hey, I'm watching your video so that I can change the oil in my Mercury 9.9!
Hahaha I appreciate it!! 👍🏼
no 8hp, what about 10hp, 9.9 club, ok! Got to get me one of those Mercs You got, very nice!
Thanks!!!
Good tutorial. Keep up the great work
Thanks man!!!
No it's a 2020 9.9 Mercury that's why I keep her clean lmao. Gotta show off the little guys.
🤣😂
32-27 is 5 not 4
No need to change the oil on my Yammy 25 -2 stroke;)
True dat!!
Fax
