60....61 in December. Just keeping on running...ultras...trails. My dogs love me! Probably sounds dumb but my motivation is almost all from within. I just love being fit and how I feel.

Another video of yours with nothing but sound and proven advice 👌
I want to thank you whole heartedly for the impact you had on my personal running journey.
Having gone frome that out of shape guy in his late 40's, with all sorts of health issues, to running 60k + on my own and hoping to run my first Ultra.
This though, was cut short through covid and the last effect of long long-covid that I suffered from for 3 years.
Through all of this your channel, personal triumph and tribulations with running, kept me motivated and inspired.
Sure there were some other factors, but I'm proud to say I'm fully back in the game , today having rum my 5th trail race in under a year since my last flair-up that left me as good as immobilized, hopeless and having to quit my job.
The impact of celebrating, and tracking even the smallest victories, can not be overstated!!!
Building on these is what can give you hope. Taking the time to put your physical and mental health first is crucial for progress and success.
There's nothing better for me, than being out on the trails and in Nature.
Today's progress celebration, was running a fairly challenging 10.64 mile trail race in a time of 1:45:39, and that's despite take a pretty hard spill around mile 9.
I'm 53 1/2 now, so it taken some time to get back to this point.
Now that the base is back, next year I'll focus more on distance again.
For all your fell followers, who might be struggling, I just want to say that, don't give up, if I can come back from where I was, then so can you 💪
...and this channel is the right place to be!

Great advice. I'm 56 and have been running mountains since 1993, ultras since 2000. Had one hiccup in 2022 with a minor meniscus tear and 3 months of getting back in running shape, otherwise I've always been healthy. I still have plans on getting after it with more ultras and other big goals in 2025. Your advice of including other training is spot on, and I'd also say MAKE SURE TO LIFT WEIGHTS. Weight lifting must be prioritized especially after 50 because you will lose muscle. Also, I'd add to avoid junk food and eat a lot of protein, and focus on whole unprocessed foods. It makes a massive difference. Get lots of sleep, too.

I just turned 59. Been running ultras for almost 20 years. My doctor hates me because I'm never sick haha. I love to run because of what it does to my body. And to my mental health. Yes, things are slowing down but that's why old guys like me are so good on long distances. I'll slow down when I am dead 💪🏻
