You are a gift to this runner, for sure! This explanation is so well done. People leave before the words of wisdom?! I always get a chuckle from it! Fredrik, you are so funny! Your humor is my kind of humor! Thoroughly enjoy you! ❤

I realised my hips were weak a couple of weeks ago, and started strength training. The exercises look ridiculous but they've already made a difference.

Thank you for adding the humor suggestion to your video. It’s NUTS how many people I deal with don’t understand humor, use humor, and seem to get angry when someone uses humor. What the actual F is happening? So please keep using humor, and if they don’t get it, it’s their loss…

Also love your comment: “skip to the end if you think facts are boring or overrated.”

That video showing the difference with the hip rotation was fantastic!!! I’ve always had issues visualizing and learning from this in the past but this has been very helpful.

Honestly I found the humor odd so I didn’t watch to the very end, but I did start using the technique, something about it stuck in my head and boy is it a game changer! Coming back to follow the channel

Inward leg rotation in relation to hip extension.. so obvious now that you mention it. It feels fluid, I can feel all the right muscles engaging!

A Hip Labral Tear followed by a Hip Flexor Strain right before COVID benched me for a solid year. I slowly returned back to running with only long aerobic runs with moderate success. I was too afraid of getting re-injured again and stayed away from any speed workout. 3 days ago, I happened upon this video. Yesterday, after a solid warmup, I went out and ran a mile at full effort while focusing on the motion of my hips like the video describes. No issue. This morning, same thing. Warmup followed by two miles. At full effort. No issue. This made realize how poor my running mechanics were all these years! I am cautiously optimistic that I can resume a normal training regimen with plenty of speed workouts like I used to. And who knows, beat my PR at the next marathon! Thank you Frederik!! You have a new subscriber now!

Thanks for this. Watched it multiple times to really analyse the hip movement sequence.
I realise that I need to improve the contribution of the hips when running and see a lot of potential in its contribution to faster overall performances.

I feel this as sideways rotation of the pelvis and the counter rotation up to the shoulders. It unlocks noticeable power faster paces at the same apparent effort.

Yay! Thanks for the video. I will be doing the bench one. I am looking for things to improve my running while I cannot run because of an ankle injury. You never really know how you will get injured. I have been running for over 40 years and never had an ankle problem. Well, my 45 kg Weimaraner stopped to sniff and then decided to run into me from behind. She did this at full speed directly into the leg that was weighted, while we were trail running together. My foot got caught under her, I think. My foot twisted and I fell poorly. My ankle was dislocated/talus bone fractured. Sadness. No Weim was harmed. She was fine. She just acted surprised to find me lying on the ground. (Oh, and my humerus is fractured, too!)

Wow! I actually have strong hips but realized I wasn’t using them at all! My quads and calves were getting smoked on any run over 10 miles. Implemented your suggestions and now I’m able to hit 17-20 miles fairly easily and my pace increased dramatically. Thank you god’s gift 😂

Great video about a small but important issue! I have experienced the lack of hip rotation recently, trying to start running again. Pain in the lower back…
Last five years has only been floorball (goalie), open water swimming and forestry work - none of which are promoting good running technique.
A quick fix for me seems to be running terrain/cross country. I get the flow that way.
Remember; Running is a series of one leg jumps - how can one jump good and long without rotating the hip? One can’t.

Thanks for this, I have constant tightness in my left glute when I run that I think is related to my hip mobility and perhaps SI joint. I will have to try some of these exercises. I have pain when I externally rotate my left leg in the back hip and up to the SI joint. Seeing a physio but not cracking it.

    Quick note: 8:32 mobility drills
Strange question, how does it feel to run in the correct form VS not running in the correct form? When you can't see your self.
Running alone how do I know if I improve my running form without the need of filming my self and only go by feel?
Thank you for sharing also learning something.
Hope have a Merry Christmas, 😊

Istället för att tacka och visa uppskattning för en video med väldigt mycket nyttig gratis information så lägger du en sån bajsnödig kommentar… tack för videon Fredrik, finns ingen bättre kanal på youtube för löpteknik 👍
