Today in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, this movie is more relevant TODAY, than ever before. I've watched this miniseries since 1984 & has been a powerful impact on my life. Great work.

Loved V from when it screened in the UK way back in 1984 around the time of LA Olympics, another good interview from Kenneth Johnson and Marc Singer.

2008 is more applicable. Forcing government funded health care down our throats. Using the IRS against organizations he didn't agree with politically. Plus a mainstream media slanted to favor one side.
@@xenofett7008 You'd be hard pressed to convince Singer or Ironside of that both being from Canada. They'd probably say 2016 and the suppression of media scrutiny akin to the scientists being shut up. Or has it been both? I dunno you ask Dr. Fauci.

Addicted to it the minute it came out back in 83, absolutely brilliant.
It paralleled an alien invasion to that of the Nazis invading Europe and the rounding up of Jews or scientists in this case. Great cast, great characters

It was one of the best mini series on tv of the time. I never got to watch the reboot of V . How does it compare.
The 2009 "V" reboot is excellent and well worth watching.
The Visitors in the reboot are not as overtly military and fascistic as in the original 80s series, but they have a unique grasp of the soft power of mass media and how to manipulate the humans with it.
The reboot seems to have an overall theme about the dangers of politics becoming a secular alternative to religion. This theme is particularly emphasized in an episode of the second season where the Visitor leader Anna visits the Vatican and directly threatens their religious authority implying that she will be the new "savior" of mankind.

The build up was intense and I was glued to the TV for the original minis and the series! Absolutely one of the best mini series of all time!

Shame the movie of V most likely won't get made
This miniseries was such a big deal when I was a kid. I was 11 when it came out and I absolutely loved it. I think the reason the new series didn't work out was that they messed with the formula too much. The sub-text of the rebellious struggle and allusions to 1940's German was watered down and lost in the new series. It lacked the darkness of the original. And honestly, the casting wasn't great. If it had the darkness and grit of something like Ronald Moore's Battlestar Galactica, it might have been a better show. I really hope Johnson gets a green light on a movie.

The original v 80s series set the bar so high that second instalment late 1980s and new V 2010 couldn’t reach
V is excellent the original pilot and the Final Battle was epic. I think there's alot more truth to it than people think.
