AMAZON Starter Cranks 7.3L Powerstroke at IDLE SPEED

  • Well my starter finally kicked the bucket. I guess a few too many cold starts with a non-functioning glow plug relay. Anyway, I had to get another one to get it back up and running, so I picked this one. I am extremely impressed with how fast it cranks over and starts the truck - its almost 2x faster than the old one! We'll see how long it lasts but it has excellent reviews on the longevity, so I think it's a must have for your 7.3

    DB sells a decent product. I came across them about 12 or 15 years ago for a 6.9L diesel starter. Same starter is still in the truck today and works great.

    PowerMaster 9051 is what you truly seek for a 7.3. It's same thing you got from Amazon, but re-manufactured to high quality American standards right in the good ol' USA. Will last longer, work better. These starters are re-manufactured DENSO starters. The originals were the hottest thing going, coming straight outta Japan. Pretty much cannot get the originals anymore. The PowerMaster 9051 lights my 7.3 off so fast it should be illegal. It's just simply too good. Most people can't handle that level of good. Brand new PHAT gauge battery cables help feed it ALL the amps.

    Sounds great man! I replaced my original 02 starter on my 7.3 about a year ago with a high torque gear reduction starter. Original lasted 250,000+ miles. New one was SO FAST it made me flinch!😌 Well worth every penny & bloody knuckle.

    those straight motor starters are gear reduction. its a planetary gear. otherwise there would be no possible way a motor of that size could even turn that engine

      @Jimmyziggy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point, I did not know that myself, so thank you for the comment!

    • @Jimmyziggy
      @Jimmyziggy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These new ones are offset gear reductions and the old one is planetary gear reduction, but with the terminology thrown around on the internet its easy to get mistaken.

    Do not buy this starter. I bought it about a month ago and it's already grinding and not spinning the gear out enough.

    Anyone have any experience installing these in the e series trucks with the 7.3? Got an old ambulance for a service truck and trying to make it as reliable as possible. Thanks!

      YES,YES,YES !!! I have 3 E450 Turbos (97,99,2001) all had OEM starters as I bought them retired from townships over the years. Dont get freaked out if your old starter has 3 bolts. New one only needs 2. These starters are all pretty much the same cost just make sure the HIGH TORQUE STARTER you choose fits on the charts they have. $105 delivered and id bet if you were in a cold climate you wouldn't need to use a block heater until maybe zero .even then they roll the motor ungodly quick. this starter is the best thing that ever happened to a diesel motor since its block was cast .no lie
      they are insanely hard/fast cranking.like slightly pretty much faster than a car starter

    These Chinese fake Denso starters don't crank any faster than a new OEM starter.

    • @jr42a1
      @jr42a1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      dont know where yours came from but if its a high torque with 2 bolt pattern then you've either got a DOA or youre talking S***. Neither is good
