My profound thanks Darren for what you have done for the greys. I watch this Utube video over & over & never tire of it. After rescuing two hounds of my own I too have "fallen in love with the breed". God bless you Darren & all the volunteers at GAC. I am forever "greytful". July 2024 this barbaric racetrack in Mexico closed its doors for good.
I had to laugh when the man was looking in the dog's ear and said "no potatoes in there". It reminded me of when I used to check my grey's ears, I'd say: "EAR CHECK, EAR CHECK", and then I stick my nose in her ears and sniff, and if all was normal I'd say "AAHH....smells good!!! Just like a clean ear should!!! GOOD GIRL!!!!" and then I'd give her hugs and kisses, then she'd want to snuggle.
I’m so very grateful for all the work you’ve done and the many precious greys you’ve saved and restored to full live. And, you and your team have made so many of us love them and welcome them into our homes. My gratitude for the two that added SO much to my life. You’re right, they are the best kept secret. I look forward to my next beauty. THANK YOU!!!
I love the last comments the best, You'll get the best dog of your life. They will change your life. How very true! Greyhounds are very unique, so different from other breeds. Adopting a greyhound will change your life for the better. You'll never be sorry you adopted one. But one is never enough. You'll need the 2nd, the 3rd and the 4th. They make such wonderful pets because of the love and care they've had from birth until they are retired and adopted.
My boy raced in Mexico, his name was WWs lineman. He is a gentleman, love him very much. Thank you for what you do. Oh yes we have a cat and medium size dog. Everyone is just fine.
This is one of the best videos I've seen about rescuing greyhounds! Lots of good advice and the home that they live in seems perfect. I'm looking forward to adopting after the advice of this video!
absolutely wonderful video, having rescued and owning greyhounds for the past 11 years, lovely to see see the passion for these beautiful dogs, well done on getting the word out about them, more exposure means more hope of finding them the homes and the love they truly deserve.
I've got two! That's Rita on the left, Taffy on the right. Sisters, now about 11 years old. They are my numbers 4 and 5 greyhounds. Got them from Operation Greyhound in San Diego about 9 years ago. Thanks for the video. Jon
Great job guys so pleased to hear racing is going to phrase out the sooner the better, as usual you guys are ahead of us here in the Uk. I'm on my first adopted Greyhound from RGT here in the UK. Always had dogs with my late Mother but we never had a Greyhound so pleased to have discovered this breed while volunteer dog walking for a local dog charity. All the very best to you and thanks for making such a heart warming video.
I love this man! Thank you for being you. I lost my whippet, the love of my life, last December and will consider a Grey from you at the end of the year....I love the sight hounds! Keep up the good work!
I love this organization. they came to my workplace and explained the whole process and offered all kinds of knowledge on greyhounds. I am so excited to adopt one eventually through their amazing program.
Ok. This has convinced me I need a greyhound in my life! It was always in my mind to adopt a dog but I like purebreds as well. I love how they are the oldest dog breed and LOVE how their temperament seems to be. I see their soul and even though I havent met one, they've touched my heart. Thank you for this video. I've come to the end of my search and indecisiveness as to what breed of dog I want, and whether to adopt or not. The greyhound checks all of my needs and wants for what I've been looking for in my next dog.
Thank you for everything. Some people are so special and caring such as you all at the Greyhound Adoption Center. I wish I was allowed to have a dog where I live.
We get stopped all the time with my lurcher as he looks like a full greyhound, i live in yorkshire and we have loads of greyhounds, whippets and lurchers yet we still get stopped by people to pet him. Lovely dogs they are and id love a full greyhound but its finding one to live with my rabbits. X
Will you consider working with rescue shelters in Spain to find homes for galgos, once all the race tracks in the US are closed? There are thousands of galgos rescued by large and small shelters each year. Adoptions are challenging for them right now with covid-19.
Now, I appreciate the work he's doing. But I would never let a greyhound loose with a fence that low as that. I mean, please! They'll jump over that fence in one second from straight feet 20 cm next to the fence.
Thank you for doing this great work
Oh my gosh. This choked me up. I just adopted two greys this year and they are truly everything you said.

What a great comment! It reminds me of my 2nd greyhound - Whenever the vet put that long Q-Tip in his ear, he loved it so much, he would groan. :)

You're right! Life wouldn't be the same without greyhounds! :)
Love you all
My Greyhound, WILLOW, and I send our thanks from Maryland.
I have had retired Greyhounds on my couches on both coasts since 1989. Can't imagine life without one!

That's funny - I had such a small greyhound, that people used to stop and ask if she was a whippet :)

'..... Easily! ..this is where they truly belong... especially on your bed or sofa :)
I’m concerned about their sleep startle. Is it possible to get rid of it by training the dog? Thx
