      As you gain experience you will develop knowing what to do and how to do it, equipment, adjustments, material, temp, humidity etc etc. at first stick with the same quality equip. and materials while learning, that will help pinpoint all the little things involved with chemicals and painting. Even long time pros run into issues sometimes because chemicals can be complicated however as you develop knowing how to handle things you’ll gain confidence and results. Always have an open mind, the best are always striving to learn.

      @J.Lulo_ Thanks bro! The only thing I'm not sure of is, do you think I should primer over the areas where the clear has peeled? I was hoping to save on cans and just scuff it all real good and just base and clear it. The roof is smooth no body work just some spots with exposed base and primer from levelling out the peeled sections.

    • @J.Lulo_
      @J.Lulo_  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I would primer the area before you paint. It will give it a good protective barrier to make sure your paint sticks good and some of the old paint underneath doesn’t come through the new paint. Primer it give it a lite sanding and then apply your paint and clear coat.

    What about mist or overspray does it get on other areas that you haven’t cleared yet and how do you handle that

    • @J.Lulo_
      @J.Lulo_  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The mist and overspray evaporates into the clear when you use the right kind of hardener in your clear coat.

    Great tips. Will this technique work on bumpers, I have a pair I'll be spraying next week?

    • @J.Lulo_
      @J.Lulo_  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes this technique will work on a bumper. Just be careful when spraying bumpers because bumpers have a lot of curvy areas that can be hard to reach.

  • @autowingsthingsmike8954

    What speed activator are you using in your clear & how long you waiting between coats ?

    • @J.Lulo_
      @J.Lulo_  ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually use a slow activator in my clear and just go back to back with my coats because I have to get it done quickly. The reason I do it like that is because when you start at one point of the car and finish coating everything else the first panel you started with would have flashed enough to apply the second coat of clear. Plus I spray in a climate controlled paint booth which helps to flash the paint as well.

      @@J.Lulo_ Approximately, what temp is your climate control at ??

    • @J.Lulo_

    Is clear coat the same as blender? Also I used Eastwood and it came out like sandpaper and so did the Dupli Color. Thanks again

    • @J.Lulo_
      @J.Lulo_  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Well it depends how you spray it and the temperature that you’re painting in. If I can I’ll try to make a video explaining why this happens. Thank you 🙏 for commenting and watching my videos I appreciate it.

    • @J.Lulo_
      @J.Lulo_  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Clear coat is not the same as blender. Blender is a transparent base coat and clear coat is the final top coat that protects the paint and gives the car a beautiful finish.

    • @johnochicago8457
      @johnochicago8457 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@J.Lulo_ I think they used to call this top coat blender on the older cars. The pressure had to be around 70lbs and you pretty much had to run to keep it from running. This was back in the late '6's

    • @J.Lulo_
      @J.Lulo_  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Cool 😎 I love to learn how things were done before. Thanks for the info. I’ve heard a tun of stories of how things were done back when paint use to be acrylic enamel and single stage. It’s interesting but also seemed a little more complicated to deal with.

    • @johnochicago8457
      @johnochicago8457 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Dent pullers required that you use a screw in the panel and a pick hammer. If you use a pick hammer it's going to go through. Then if the metal was stretched you warmed the high spots with a torch and then a rag with cold water too shrink it. Then grind then bondo, then thick sand able primer several coats and then an air sandere that required 100lbs pressure, then a thin coat of primer which you would knock the top off before painting. I still think the new way is more complicated. You are an artist. I forgot then after painting and top coat blender you used buffing compound.

    Does the application of the first coat works the same for silver metalics colour?

  • @Jason-zr6il

    I see you use the push-pull method. I’m comfortable doing the pull-pull but would that cause excessive overspray or streaking?

    • @J.Lulo_

      Can you clarify what you mean with the push pull method.

      @@J.Lulo_ You started on one side of the hood by spraying forward then you go to the other side to continue by pulling the gun towards you

    • @J.Lulo_
      @J.Lulo_  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok yes in some occasions it my cause excessive over spray depending on the panels you’re painting. I like to start from one end of a panel and work my way across. I feel this way it comes out smoother and cleaner.
