Must we perpetuate the negative mini-van perception? When is it going to end. How about we all be comfortable in our own skin and give mini-vans the props they deserve?
FYI on the door lock issue, you can change the settings of how your doors lock and unlock and when they perform that function (i.e. lock when you take vehicle out of park or when you reach a certain speed. And you can choose if they unlock when you put the vehicle in Park or turn it off, as well as choose which doors unlock.)
Wow, a woman with a negative view of a minivan. Growing up I always prefer SUVs over sports cars, when I got older I realized how practical minivan is when we rent them for our road trips. Now that I have two kids, the minivan is the ultimate car. Who cares what people think about you, I know for a fact, my friends appreciate it when I pick up their asses when we hang out.
We just purchased one of these on Saturday....EXL in same color combo that Dave tested. Its a fantastic van with a lot of safety features...lane watch is one they didn't mention in the review. Irt even has a cool box in the front to keep drinks cool. We have had several Odyssey's when the kids were smaller and then switched to a 2009 Pilot which is a great vehicle, but you can't beat the comfort of a van for a family of 5 with teenagers for hauling kids and friends around, not to mention family vacations. Honda just keeps improving this van and the 2014 is better than ever...quiet,spacious,safe,and reliable.
The stupidity of people who are worried about a minivan's "stigma" over logic and reason deserve to be miserable in their gas guzzling, more expensive, less amenities, less cargo space, and uncomfortable ride. We all laugh at you for making the dumber choice because of some SUV fad. Associating it with WalMart is absolutely the dumbest thing I have ever heard of...
I did not care for her smart remarks about the name Roberta as if it was a bad name..I don't know who this little red headed troll thinks she is but she needs to check herself..
Ok! Stop shaming the van!!! You dont like it? Dont drive it! Thats the best - spacious family yet sleek look van! The kids can sit comfortably. But i know I know she probably dont have kids, so get out from there then. Thats a perfect family car. And out of topic, what wrong with Walmart either???🤣😂
I agree with the statement that it needs help on the gas millage!!! My mom has a 2005 Honda Odyssey Ex-L and it is a "GASS-A-HOLIC"!!! It is so powerful so if the driver needs to step on it and GO then it can and will do exactly that, especially if it is in the D3 mode. (The D3 mode raises shift points and limits the transmission to third gear). Over-all it is a very good car I would recommend it to anyone who is hauling a bunch of people or things.
You can run the engine on Synthetic Oil and use higher quality fuels for better gas mileage. Also replacing the tires with Continental LX20 tires, great for snow and wet traction and low-rolling resistance for gas mileage, can help too. I have a 2007 EX-L with NAV/DVD with around 39,000 miles and I drive a lot less miles because of where I live. The engine also has Variable Cylinder Management to help save gas at highway driving, which I found it useful.
By default only the drivers door unlocks. I'm sure that you can change the setting to unlock all doors when put into park just like my Ridgeline. Check the owners manual.
Love the Odyssey , have no qualms about driving minivans, they are the best. Love them to death. Haul our kids, our junk, other's junk, university trips, road trips, nothing is better for me than a minivan. And as a big guy, I fit without banging my knees on a console, hitting my head on the roof, or feeling squished in the seat. All kinds of people drive minivans, no matter where they shop. Who cares where they shop, really?!?
Thank you!! Who does that red head troll think she is?? Such a snob with her remarks and my mother's name is Roberta and I assure you she doe snot shop at Walmart and a redhead like Melisssa in the video cleans HER home!
The red head is a snob. Her comments about Walmart, etc. - typical elitist crap. A new Honda Odyssey at this trim level is north of $40K - how many people have this kind of cash to throw around. I'm a physician and my wife and I shop at Walmart all the time.
Glad i was not the only one offended by her rude remarks!! My mothers name is Roberta and she made it sound like anyone name Roberta was trash...I can assure her my mom has a redhead like Melissa that cleans her house...She ruins all the videos she is in and many agree
Own a 15 odyssey touring bought 75,000 km now have 260,000 plus km no problem. Reg oil changes, and service. Goes real strong and pulls pretty hard knock on wood. Live in Toronto and cold starts I accelerate slowly until vehicle warm up, I dont turn the heat on until temp gage moves up. May be paranoid but it gives me peace of mind.
REDUCE the price its almost $50,000 loaded! It should be $30,000 by today standards and the state of the economy. Most MSRP prices are reduced almost 30 percent automatically! Nice Honda still!
Actually MSRP is $45K...so you can easily get a Touring Elite for less than that if you have an ounce of negotiation skills. That's on average $15K less than a large SUV like a Suburban that can seat the same as an Odyssey. VERY appropriate for today's standards and it offers so much more.
I liked the 2014 Honda Odyssey a lot because It is so spacious, has friendly family features, and is reliable. Why don't Honda do a lot of commercials on their minivans? And why do It cost so much?
Was looking at this and a 2020 Toyota . I hear that the honda can have transmission issues and the Toyota can have head gasket issues.. went with the honda, but that wasn't no surprise because im a Honda guy.
My mom had a 2014 Honda odyseey my brother and my 2 sisters said it feels uncomfortable 2 years later in 2016, we got a Toyota sieena it felt so nice it had a sub roof and all that 5 star car
Compared to the Sienna and the Quest the 3rd row access is lacking. You can keep the 'lightning bolt'. Needs more gears. I know Stow-N-Go is a legal pipe dream. The center stack like in any Honda product is a mess. Just give me a big touchscreen with hard buttons for general functions. Front clip looks weird. 45K is insane. Buy one off lease. If you don't pile on the options the MPG will pick up. 24MPG isn't uncommon.
can someone please tell me with the entertainment system in the back. there are two differenct screen sizes. wide and regular ??? ill looking for an touring elite and i have to check each one. why in the heck did Honda make it challenging. just make one size ??? just like the sliding door big gap. get it together Honda :)
Does anyone find this Odyssey "wobbly" when driving? Or was that perhaps just the used Odyssey that I drove. I loved everything else about it but something didn't feel right when I drove it

Evan K Can you do me a favor and watch both videos back to back? Here's my Quest Review: th-cam.com/video/gSD3Yu6njFI/w-d-xo.html I'm curious what you think after watching both? - Dave
Everyman Driver Car Reviews Thanks, Dave. My impression is that your are a fan of the Quest, but favor the Odyssey. As you mentioned in the Quest review, it has a great ride and offers a lot of versatility, but the Honda also does that, but adds more engaging steering and even more versatility. Full disclosure, I've owned a 2012 Quest for the past two years and I kind of wish I spent the extra on the Honda. The resale value is a major factor, as is the steering, lack of seating for 8, mediocre crash rating, lack of storage space, and lack of connectivity. I have the SL model which makes you feel like you should have a touchscreen and bluetooth streaming, but that only comes with the top model. I was curious what your impressions were since you're one of the few people to have significant experience with both cars. Thanks! Also, the Odyssey video with your wife in it was great. Beyond the entertainment of your back and forth, I imagine her "real world" perspective is quite helpful for people arguing over getting the van or an SUV.
What a Ding Bat!! It must be hell going through life worrying about what other people think about your preferences. The ultimate example of PC thinking. If you enjoy shopping at Walmart and driving a mini van, why should you care what other people think of those choices? GET A LIFE!!
Does it have a litter box where the transmission should be? You can use the Honda Vac to vacuum out your empty wallet when your Transmission turns into a sunbeam blender! I've got a good nickname: Sudden transmission death!
Fuckers are 30k+ starting price right out of the dealer... People buy these, put 50-60k miles on them then sell em for 21k+ as low mile cars, they aren't over the top or anything. Just don't be the first buyer.
If you're going to continue doing reviews regarding seats that fold you might study the use of the words :"lie" and "lay" as it seems you don't know the difference. The point is that if you are going to use terms then use the right terms. Otherwise a very good and through review.

still driving a 2002 odyssey, reaching the 200,000 like mark and still drives amazing.
Both of my accords are at 215k plus. 07 and 09

My wife thought the same she didn’t want to be seen in one but love she loves it so much room and perfect for the kids

Interesting, once the female got in the car, she got negative and in turn, he became negative. Killed it for me at that point.
I did not care for her smart remarks about the name Roberta as if it was a bad name..I don't know who this little red headed troll thinks she is but she needs to check herself..
Yeah.. she was a debbie downer.

why does many people put down Walmart. whenever you see them where do they shop at Walmart.
I like this car. So more useful than the europeans sporty vans (sharan, s-max, etc.). The third seats impressed me how simply falls down.
Quick glance of the owners manual and you will find the door locks can easily be programmed to unlock all doors instead of just the driver's door.
Great review as usual. I place more weight now in your reviews then any other source.
Gorgeous van! Luv the vacuum!
$45,000+ for a mini van? It better vacuum itself for that much cash.
Enjoyable and useful detailed review as always, thank you... Waiting your review of the RLX SH-AWD.
Can't believe She Lowered herself to even get into this Van....She thinks she is Royalty !!!

3:11 that's pretty not good? Why? (Did he actually say that?)
Nice and clear review! Thumbs up!
Smoll Kitteh he said darn
I loved your review. Thank you.
Hewleri Is this your next purchase?
Everyman Driver Car Reviews I live in Sweden, we have unfortunately not this car available in Sweden.
Hewleri Swedish Power!!! #carlXVIgustav
his voice would be really good on radio!
+iOmar86 it was good on the radio.. it was also good on tv :-)
These two obviously share their Christmas tree. Cute couple.
The seatbelt in the back are the way of everything!
It was just operator error for not disconnecting it before folding the seat!!
you can program the car to unlock when put in park
Was looking at this and a 2020 Toyota . I hear that the honda can have transmission issues and the Toyota can have head gasket issues.. went with the honda, but that wasn't no surprise because im a Honda guy.
I've seen over 30 of these while driving. The next closest was dodge caravan/ town n country. The sienna is dead last, lol.
My mom had a 2014 Honda odyseey my brother and my 2 sisters said it feels uncomfortable 2 years later in 2016, we got a Toyota sieena it felt so nice it had a sub roof and all that 5 star car

5th grade called, they want their comment back.
pbradford021 y u jealous?

The HP hasn't improved much since 2003...For some reason current gen Odyssey looks slightly smaller than older gen...
Very informative indeed.
you backed into something, the insurance man
Nice review
4:46 there is a scratch on the back bumper in the middle
Ugh please leave her out of the reviews. She’s terrible. No one researching this van wants to hear about how embarrassed they should be driving it 🙄
Just wondering where is the dust goes after being vacuumed? Do they have a vacuum bag somewhere? Do you have to change bags? Thanks
I name my odyssey "Big Sherly" good review. And dam the redhead is so cute heheh
Great review. But what would you recommend for someone with 4 carseats?
bus
Minal Patel

+Everyman Driver Your welcome.

What's that scuff in back bumper Dave? Lol
I know you also tested the Nissan Quest recently. How does the Quest compare to the Odyssey?

What versión? (Help). Is touring elite? Please

Was hoping to see if the middle seats can fold down or come out... guess not.... p.S. more ass shots of Dave, please.
They collapse and then can be pulled out; it's a very versatile vehicle
Hi!
Does the EX-L come with wide screen on the roof or Touring and Touring Elite only?
MrPeposimo I believe only on the touring and touring elite!
the touring & sometimes the ex-l (depending on which one you get) have the 9 inch screen, but only the elite one has the 16 inch.
Why does it have two screen's?
Does it have a litter box where the transmission should be? You can use the Honda Vac to vacuum out your empty wallet when your Transmission turns into a sunbeam blender! I've got a good nickname: Sudden transmission death!
You put that dent on the bumper? Hehe
3:25 but why are seatbelts not unplugged
3:29 see seats not seating properly bcoz of it
Why do they call the odyssey the "rich family's van"?
Fuckers are 30k+ starting price right out of the dealer... People buy these, put 50-60k miles on them then sell em for 21k+ as low mile cars, they aren't over the top or anything. Just don't be the first buyer.
To me this van is soooo "tight" "small" not very "spacious" on the inside compared to the Toyota Sienna! Going back to my baby Sienna :-)
are they doing it??? :))
Dave, Odyssey or Sienna?
***** for who? You or me?
Everyman Driver Car Reviews for you
Loved the review but what's with the silly Baseball Cap? Go Yankees!!
Gladiator1972 If you send me a Yankees cap, I'll wear it in my next video :-)
Curious on legroom...how tall are you?
Melissa Blant 5'11
You forgot to say touring with the types of the odyssey.
Thank you.
PikaGalaxyGamesNow //PGGN
And the cool box and the popup trash can
I like the lady and the car
She's like, "Ewww!" Lol! Should've used a woman with kids. She's acting like a 40 year old teenager, and that is not the market for a minivan.
Are you going to use the HondaVAC

Jaded, Spoiled
That's is a 2017 / 2016 odessey
I like the town n country more...
cool
Part that sucks! Huh!
Ugly. Sienna way better. The console is so outdated, so does the exterior.
Not in safety.
Why does it have two screen's?
