    Here's what a failed fuel pressure regulator / fuel transfer pump sounds like with no start condition in an E70 X5. X5 won't start. BMW won't start. No start X5. No fuel pressure. Fuel transfer pump failure. Fuel pressure regulator failure. BMW part 16117195469
    Initial symptoms were a delayed start with slightly extended cranking time of one second.

      @@BIMMERZEITT1/4 fuel or less and vehicle shuts off. Add 5l and it starts right up. New fuel pump, new fuel pump relay. 2009 x5 3.0. No codes ! It has to be the transfer pump. Thank you !

    2009 n52. New fuel pump new fuel pump relay. Vehicle shuts off completed when on 1/4 fuel or remaining 60km distance to empty.
    It’s got to be the transfer pump?? No codes at all. I added 5l of fuel after it shut off and it started immediately.

    Shouldn't you check the fuel pump relay before tearing into the bowels of the car to get to the fuel pumps?

    So what you are saying there are two pumps in there? I had recall done and 60k miles later pump failed again but know I’m thinking that maybe the one that wasn’t replaced went bad??

    Question I’m having the same issue how do you know if it’s the transfer pump or the other pump that goes to the engine? Or do I replace both…

      When you speak to BMW Parts. They have a small footnote recommending both as replacement. Im currently doing the same.

    Hi great video. Did you have a Code specific to the transfer pump? My Beamer shop is saying my HPFP has to be replaced.

    • @BIMMERZEITT
      @BIMMERZEITT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HPFP will store a code but the transfer pump did not. This is a 30i so less complex. The 35i is substantially more complex with additional fuel modules as well.

    Greetings, I’m having a similar issue, no fuel is being pumped to the rails. What should happen if I remove the hose/line the connects the low pressure fuel pump to the fuel distribution pump, should I see fuel spewing? If not, does that mean my low pressure pump is bad? After getting left on the highway due to engine shutdown, I noticed that the fuel rails are completely dry when I open them. I’ve replaced HPFP, Electric distribution module, fuel relay module, fuel pressure sensor (on the rail) no start, no fuel. 2012 X6 35i N55

    Hi there. Thanks for posting such a detailed video. I had a similar situation as yours but the code 2BF5 indicated low pressure at the fuel rail. So I replaced the high pressure sensor as well as the hpfp. However, the hpfp didn't look like the original and might already been replaced. This didn't solve the problem though. The car still won't start, but the code now reads P0087 which is again low pressure at the fuel rail. What codes did you have that led you to the regulator? Thanks in advance.

    What engine u have? Direct fuel injection has a module to control the pump and might not have "transfer pump". N52, N55, V8?

    Hi my x5, it stopped on the highway and then after that won't crank or start, would the fuel transfer pump be the issue or am I looking at some deeper issue?

    • @BIMMERZEITT
      @BIMMERZEITT  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would start by using a BMW specific scan tool on the OBDII port to check for codes. It could be the main fuel pump as well, in fact, there was a recall for the main pump so check with BMW by providing your local service agent your VIN number. If the main fuel pump is recalled on your model but not yet replaced (BMW does this for free) you could start there. Good luck! Report back your results here in the comments.

    Hi,
    I have to replace my HPFP. I’m driving with the check engine light and reduced power. Anyone know how long I can drive like this? The Engine Malfunction goes on then off.

      I would recommend getting a rental car for the week and keep the BMW off the road for repair. I just rented a Tesla model 3 at Hertz for $239 for the week. Not a bad deal!
