Maybe you can possibly help me out I have a 07 bmw 328xi new battery problem I’m having is the car starts fine sometimes and then sometimes I get a slow crank and sometimes nothing . I don’t even know where to start would a relay do that or more towards the starter I need help!
This video helped me diagnose a no start/intermittent start with my BMW X6. Mechanic couldn't find the fault after doing a diagnostic check on the computer. Went home and looked for solutions on Google and TH-cam and "boom"saw the solution here. Thanks alot. You saved me some bucks.

@@9011combo ya same thing it wasnt the module . It was the starter once I replaced it it turn on right away. But replacing a starter on your bmw is gonna be a little frustrating lol

My 2008 528i - 130k miles was running perfectly then failed to start at random after a grocery store stop. No Start, No Crank exact symptoms. Changing the relay did not work for me. I had to tow the car to a shop, installing a new starter was the solution. It's a 3.5 hrs to 4 hrs labor job. Thanks Auto Repair Guys for this suggestion, keep posting the videos. I had hoped it would work for me. Hopefully this fix works for others.
The relay is in the trunk of the 2008 528i. Same side as the battery. Not in the glove box. Auto zone and O'reilly Auto Parts stock the part. The BMW dealer spare shop was closed.

We tried this, the part is available for 8.99 at your local O'Reilly or auth parts store. Ours a 2008 BMW X5 was located in the rear right side of the cargo bay. Pull out a panel and it will be located behind a small sound blanket.
Sometime, if you have one of those BMW with the keyless access, it could just be a tired or dead battery on the key fob. So.... before ordering a new relay or starter, just try to replace the 2032 battery inside the key fob.If the key fob does not send the signal to the immobilizer to let the car start, when you press the start button, it may crank but not let the engine start.

i am having a strange issue where when i put the keyfob into the keyfob slot nothing happens not even any dashboard light indicates that i have put key into the slot but i have both keyfob battery and car baterry dead for 1 week now so lets see after i recharge car battery and keyfob battery mine is not comfort access.

Dude after hours and hours of no luck, your video although different model than my 08 535xi ended up being in the rear passenger side panel was the location for my CAS Relay and BOOM fixed my no start. Ended up being faulty, intermittently working and could not figure out what the problem was. So any E60 models rear passenger side just above the battery you'll find yours.
This is a good tip. I have the same exact car as you and having the same exact issue. I bet this is going to be quite common considering the age. My battery is on the charger overnight after trying to disconnect to test the IBS from the neg battery post (didn't work). Hoping this is it! Thank you for your post and the details!

Hey guys thanks for all your help you've been there alot for me lol but I'm having the same issue except I changed the relay and I know it's that one cuz the glove box light went out with it and it's still not on I put a test light to make sure power was going to the relay and it is what direction can I go now cuz I'm stumped that the starts not there and the glove box and only some of the lights on the dash its like there's no on position
Can this be an intermittent problem? I have this issue too. Being that all other modules and components are powered up that typi ally are when an ignition is in the "on" position, my first reaction was to jiggle the positive lead under the bonnet that runs off of the main post directly to the starter. The logic being a possible dirty connection between those terminals. It seems to have been working. But again... Could it just really be that relay happening to cool down enough to start while I'm out of the car jiggling that cable for nothing? All decent replies are appreciated.

Hey this is a great video! but I can’t seem to figure out if it’s the same issue with my 2008 bmw 535xi. My alternator was bad so we replaced it but beforehand we replaced the battery. Battery wasn’t the issue however we left the new battery in. This was about a month ago and today I attempted to replace the battery back to the old one, we had to jump start it and it turned on after a few times trying and leaving it connected for a good 30 min. Left it on for 1 hour and turned it off and tried turning it on a few times but wouldn’t work. We reapplied the new battery and same thing, this time it wouldn’t make a sound while turning on but all the electrical components work and it was reading 12.1 v to 12.3v. Do you think it may be the starter after attempting to start up the vehicle after many many times? Or what could it be
Hi there, I have a 2009 320D that has a frustrating issue where after driving for a while in hot weather it refuses to crank when you try to re-start. If I wait about 30 minutes it starts and runs without any issues. No error codes are being returned, it has full normal dash lights, accessories etc, it just doesn't crank. Is this relay susceptible to heat on a hot day which could cause this issue?

Hey guys, 2004 330ci BMW I've replaced pretty much everything under the hood. I jump started it from underneath the hood, not the battery in the back. No crank no start light blink😢😂😂 rapidly even when I'm not doing anything trying to crank it and the key is just on and still blinking on and off, the clicking is coming from beneath the disa. I don't know if you hear that click, but the round gear with the explanation mark is lit up. There is also clicking from behind the rear seat on the driver side.😢

When you press the start button all the dash lights and ignition come on but then you will only hear a click when trying to start. Car has a brand new battery as i thought this was the issue. I have a 2006 330i e90. It will not start nor crank, but everything on the dash turns on. If that relay is bad, and the steering mechanism is locked, will the bad relay also prevent the steering wheel from unlocking? I also noticed when I took the key out of the slot, the cars interior accessories like the dash, radio, stayed on, so I had to insert the key again to power it off.
My E90 n46 320i has problem of starting when engine gets hot. If the car run after 30min and turn off and start back up again the engine crank hard like low battery charge. My battery is new. Is this a CAS relay issue? Thanks
@@majorkeybro eventually just last month the engine won’t start after filling up petrol in the petrol pump station. Got it towed and sent to the workshop. The starter is the problem and got it replaced.

@@5dirty53 solved.. 1st.. check the voltage under the hood . if it is not transfered from the battery in the back, you need to to check the battery connector if it is connected to the front with a multimeter.
Yeah I found out my starter cable runs all the way in the back trunk connecting to the Terminal Distribution Fuse Junction Plate and that's why my suv wouldn't start. I tested all the positive cables and found out one wasn't hot which was the starter cable.

The battery is built into the circuits
Doesn’t the e90 charge the key when it’s in the ignition? If so a 2032 battery would exode
Comfort access uses a 2032 and doesn't recharge when plugged in. Non-CA uses a proprietary rechargeable battery and recharges when plugged in.

Hey this is a great video! but I can’t seem to figure out if it’s the same issue with my 2008 bmw 535xi. My alternator was bad so we replaced it but beforehand we replaced the battery. Battery wasn’t the issue however we left the new battery in. This was about a month ago and today I attempted to replace the battery back to the old one, we had to jump start it and it turned on after a few times trying and leaving it connected for a good 30 min. Left it on for 1 hour and turned it off and tried turning it on a few times but wouldn’t work. We reapplied the new battery and same thing, this time it wouldn’t make a sound while turning on but all the electrical components work and it was reading 12.1 v to 12.3v. Do you think it may be the starter after attempting to start up the vehicle after many many times? Or what could it be

Hi there, I have a 2009 320D that has a frustrating issue where after driving for a while in hot weather it refuses to crank when you try to re-start. If I wait about 30 minutes it starts and runs without any issues. No error codes are being returned, it has full normal dash lights, accessories etc, it just doesn't crank. Is this relay susceptible to heat on a hot day which could cause this issue?
Would the dealership sell this relay and how much would they charge?
2007 X3 doesnt have that relay, in my case problem was ignition switch!

Hey guys, 2004 330ci BMW I've replaced pretty much everything under the hood. I jump started it from underneath the hood, not the battery in the back. No crank no start light blink😢😂😂 rapidly even when I'm not doing anything trying to crank it and the key is just on and still blinking on and off, the clicking is coming from beneath the disa. I don't know if you hear that click, but the round gear with the explanation mark is lit up. There is also clicking from behind the rear seat on the driver side.😢

I have a 2007 bmw 550i that won’t start n then some times will start. No check engine light battery is good no leaks. My hubby gave it to me to when he went to prison now I have all these issues with it. I have no one to help me. It really needs a tube up but can’t afford it n it does smoke. Smog guy told me to switch to 50/50 conventional oil n lucas oil. Any suggestions? Ty!

I have a bmw 3 Series 2010 modal the car has a problem when we drive for a distance and when we stop the car it wont start again .but during that time all other things like AC lights locks power windows all works perfect ..only thing tht car dont gets started. Sup x5 world. 03 x5 3.0 no crank no start. After i diagnosed the x i found out the ecu see the its in D but its in Park tho. Also i can't communicate with my tcm at all
So with that say
1. Do i need and ecu ( guessing yes)
2. Does the ecu effect the tcm in anyway
3. Where does the cluster get its indicator for the shift indicator

2001 X5, ran perfect the evening. Before, ran perfectly to my destination in the a.m. Had to disconnect battery to fix a regulator in driver window. Wrapped that up, NOW will not start!!?? Battery brand new.... PLEASE HELP!
Check terminal connections on the battery. Check voltage with multimeter.
@@priceaction00yah I tried that one of the 1st things I did, I've since replaced ALL relays,checked fuses, tried to re-program/reset cars computer by holding the trip button down as explained by another cat on you tube but the "red light" has never came on no matter what I do, thing is driving me berzerk
If the new battery is not the exact same as the old one it needs to be registered to the car.

Hi guys , i have a 2005 320d with the M47 motor that has an intermittent no crank no start. When you press the start button all the dash lights and ignition come on but then you will only hear a click when trying to start. Car has a brand new battery as i thought this was the issue. This problem mostly occurs in the morning after the car has sat for a while but can also happen after a drive. Please help. Could the relay be the issue or what else could possibly be the issue? Sometimes the car will crank and start fine for a few days then others it wont.

Hi. Wondering if u could help. I have an e60 530d. It was idling in the driveway and shut off and has refused to start since. Turns over but no start. But the only error code i get is a A0B4 fault code. Pls could u advise what to look for
my e60 m5 has the same problem but i’m not sure it’s that, the car still locks and unlocks.
I have a 2006 330i e90. It will not start nor crank, but everything on the dash turns on. If that relay is bad, and the steering mechanism is locked, will the bad relay also prevent the steering wheel from unlocking? I also noticed when I took the key out of the slot, the cars interior accessories like the dash, radio, stayed on, so I had to insert the key again to power it off.

My E90 n46 320i has problem of starting when engine gets hot. If the car run after 30min and turn off and start back up again the engine crank hard like low battery charge. My battery is new. Is this a CAS relay issue? Thanks

@@majorkeybro eventually just last month the engine won’t start after filling up petrol in the petrol pump station. Got it towed and sent to the workshop. The starter is the problem and got it replaced.

Got it towed home at 1am last night and been working on it all day. Tried all the electrical stuff I can, no luck. I must need to change starter. I have one more question, was the starter showing signs before going out or was it all of a sudden?

check the voltage under the hood .
if it is not transfered from the battery in the back, you need to to check the battery connector if it is connected to the front with a multimeter.

Yeah I found out my starter cable runs all the way in the back
trunk connecting to the Terminal Distribution Fuse Junction Plate
and that's why my suv wouldn't start. I tested all the positive cables and found out one wasn't
hot which was the starter cable.
