Flying low through smoke and fire like you're dropping ordinance in a war zone, but instead of napalming the forest, you're saving it. Probably the closest thing to being a WWII dive bomber you can experience in our day and age.
My great friend that I went through flight training with recently lost his life in a Turbo Thrush.. He wanted to do aerial applications specifically because you could fly low and bank hard like a fighter pilot back in ww2. He loved it, and excelled at it.. He was a great guy and flew very safe all the while looking as if he was not flying safe.. Great pilot that loved his job and was lost due to a freak accident.. We know there are risks that something beyond your control can and do happen.. He died doing what he loved. That gives me peace.. Love and miss you Billy!!!
Those are low-angle bombers. Yep, I always thought that would be a fun job. Dive bombers would dive at high angles, like 70-80 degrees, nearly straight down…which wouldn’t work well for firefighting.

@@DrummerJacob Drones and Artificial Intelligence are a long way from replacing work like this. We still don't have autopilot replacing flight crew on airlines even though it probably could. Drones would first be used to do low level agricultural work which has establish farm boundaries and that's still a while away from being a sustainable business model. And us pilot's are not interested in our jobs being taken away in the name of any risk to our life.
Currently working on my Instrument and Commercial ratings. Everybody around me talks about getting to the airlines, but this is where my heart is at. Epic!

@@patrikpass2962 Yes, you're right. Wildfires, along with good forest management help keep the forests healthy. The problem is sometimes fires happen where people and property are put in harm's way. No one should have to pay with their lives or their homes for bad forest management or just being caught up in a natural disaster. Those are the times you are so thankful that there are people out there willing to put their lives on the line to protect others.

I live in Greece, and my country is very vulnerable to wildfires. Every time there is a wildfire, men like these respond with their aircraft to fight the flames. The pilots who fly these aircraft are some of the bravest men in the world. You guys are real heroes.
The pilots with brass balls are either dead or got them removed with better training. The cowboy days are done. Nobody wants to die or even accept unnecessary risk just to protect trees and houses anymore.

It takes years to become certified on this level and state/federal nothings impossible all it takes is a simple search of how to get into this career then also your place of residence as well ( state / distance ) where they fly etc😅
My dad used to work with Father rebuilding radials and retro fitting Grumman TBF Avengers for use as fire bombers for the Department of Foresty in Northern California..

As a boy, I always wanted to be a pilot because my uncle infected me with it. He was an agricultural pilot on a Bell 47 and we were allowed to fly with him from time to time. Later, when it came to finishing school, I applied for the Bundeswehr and wanted to join the aviation service. But it didn't work. I learned something different and worked in many different countries. But my heart still beats for aviation. I often think about earlier times and why I didn't seek my fortune in America or Canada to fly there. Becoming a pilot there is much easier and, above all, cheaper than in Germany. Fighting fires from the air is really a great job. That's why I believe your word that this has to be the coolest job in the world. Greetings from Germany.

Fuck our government for buying fighter jets from france instead of fire planes, we are burning up every year.
I'm actually surprised the planes can get into the air, considering the excess weight of the pilots giant brass balls.

Deuteronomy 11: 16-17: "Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them; And then the LORD's wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth you."
So, the God says there are other gods, but blind leaders of blind lead people into trap.
"Jesus" means "Jehovah is salvation". This is the name of Christ real christians are hated for.
"HalleluJah" means "Praze Jah" (Jehovah).
Psalm 83: 18: "That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth."
The problem is Devil runs the world. He is lier and murderer. This is the reason why liers feel so good while righteous people are persecuted.
That's why we've got the Gospel about the God's kingdom. Jehovah would put everything in order. He has anointed the king, Jesus Christ. The dead will be resurected and we'll meet our beloved ones again! :-)
Here in Cordoba, Argentina. We also have heroes who fight fire from air and ground. It is very interesting to see it from this perspective. extraordinary images, good work and my congratulations to all of you!

That’s the overflow vent on the top of the hopper blowing. It’s normal when you’re grabbing a full load - we call it “blowing the lid”

Flying low above hot air can quickly lead to altitude/control loss as the lift generated is far less!
