I honestly wish people (not meaning you, of course) would keep comments like that in their DMs. Content creators are human, too. That can be very hurtful to see all the time.
Seeing stuff like that used to really bother Seán, since he was a compulsive people pleaser. Thankfully he’s talked about how he managed to not let it get to him as much anymore.
Luckily, I think the majority of our Beautiful Community has matured with Seán and realizes that he can’t remain shackled to whatever year in which they found his Channel.
No content creator should be expected to do that. It’s just not healthy!
As someone who is fast approaching fifty, I’ve had loads of time to see every person, place and thing I love change. After a while, you come to embrace it.

As someone who suffers from spasms and mental issues and often has spasm attacks in public causing people to give me weird looks- it's just nice to feel like there's people out there who wouldn't judge harshly. We are part of a radio station with hundred if not thousands of members and she feels comfortable to spasm in front of others; and if anyone even tried to give her a look… wouldn’t end well. He's honestly so wrong though about being dumb with games. In his God of War playthrough I was amazed at how well he put things together, things that I hadn't even noticed in two playthroughs. A ton of people in the comments said similar sentiments. And it isn't unique to that game either, I've noticed it in a ton of his content. Sean is quick. Maybe he struggled in school or whatever, but who cares - school sucks and doesn't cater to different mental types. He's a smart wee Irish laddie.

Honestly, I think this is an important thing for anyone to hear because even “non famous” people who amass a big following can walk right in to that danger and not realize it. Social media has almost made human connection and empathy a commodity… like often times, it’s hollow and transactional (“I replied with three heart emojis for you that one time so you owe me public sympathy one day, too.”) Humans need real, tangible connection and support… and social media, where a stranger can insert themself in your business at any time, is not that.

I was diagnosed with ADD in adulthood and the doctors/psychiatrists immediately thought I should be medicated (that's how it works in Sweden), so we started trying different medicines that would hopefully suit me (and I had heard so much good come from this medications, it was a life changer for most it seemed). But each person is like a fish in the ocean. If you throw in a medicine / bait, it is a certain "fish" that bites. So for some folks the medicines work very well, others have to look for / try alot of different medicins first, and for others like me they do not work at all. With that said I haven't tried 'em all, I got some other complication/illnes with my eyes that makes me sensitive to some of theese medications and it has been some time now since I last tried medicate.
Development is progressing and new preparations are being produced. Science happens.
So do as Sean says if you suspect you got ADHD/ADD. Talk to the doctors/ psychiatrists and listen to them first hand.

It's nice to know that people with anxieties like myself can relate to someone who's work is supported so much, such as jack. It humanizes you and helps us realise that even if you're successful you've got your anxieties and that helps keep me humble enough to be able to fight it and still work hard with what i wanna do. So thanks for sharing your stories man.

Man, I can relate so much to Seán about feeling “dumb” because of being undiagnosed with ADHD. I didn’t get diagnosed until my mid 20’s and it has made such a huge positive change in my life. Even though it’s also kinda devastating to get a life long diagnosis.
Growing up constantly being compared to my peers and my twin was literally traumatizing. You just always feel left behind, and like you’re not enough. I’m glad there is so much focus on mental health now than just 10-20 years ago.

How did you get through it? I’m 16, and it is making me feel so distant from everyone, and even tho I can see it happening and I can understand why, I can’t seem to wrap my head around the fact that I can do so many things, amazing things, but not being able to keep up with the one main thing that matters at this time which is school, I want to learn my core subjects so badly, and I want to do great, I want to go to uni, I have a dream you know? I don’t mean to sound so sobby and sad, but how did you get through it?

    • @crownclowncreations
      @crownclowncreations 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@tylardrake8905 I really wish I had a solid answer to that, but the experience and struggles can vary a lot from person to person.
I have ADD (no hyperactivity) and I didn't fall behind until I reached college, and that was mostly the assignments that just took way too long for me.
For me, medication has helped. I unfortunately also had a chronic, severe depression on top of it, that gave me cognitive difficulties - which means it kinda feels like my ADD meds don't work atm. Still trying out antidepressants.
What has helped me, is studying my mental illnesses. Taking courses on adults with ADHD, or anxiety etc. Getting professional help, as much as I can. And getting support from friends and family.
Structure is important! I don't do well with spontaneous plans. I have a whiteboard in my kitchen with my weekly schedule. I have apps that reminds me what to do throughout the day, or helps me with my medication. Find out what helps you.
It's been about 3 years now since I was diagnosed, and I am still learning and figuring things out. It takes time. But one of the most important lessons I've learned, is that it's ok for me to be where I am. It's ok that I am a little behind. It's ok that I'm still not in animation school, or have a full time job. It's ok for me to indulge in "childish" activities and hobbies, cause I never got to do it as a kid/teen.
Life is not a race, it's not a competition. So take the time you need. Do things in your pace. The worst thing I did, was hiding my troubles, difficulties and pain, thinking it would make me look weak. Cause I waited until I was literally hospitalized. And finally getting help is the best thing I've ever done to myself.
And hey, remember, this is only temporary. Things _are_ gonna get better. I know it's cliché but it's true. This is not forever. I've been on the verge of not-living myself since I was 12, and I'm glad I stuck it out, to get to a place where I am happier. Things still aren't perfect. I still struggle with depression and trauma. But it's slowly getting better. You just gotta take it one step at a time.

Or having the thought of motivation but not the feeling? I understand that it’s ok to be a little behind, I was kept down a year, which means I’m 16 in year nine, and it’s really embarrassing, because most of the 14-15 year olds are smarter than me, and I feel like I should be smarter, again thank you, for taking the time to read my paragraph and take the time to reply to me, I appreciate it so thank you once again

They were in junior high then, one is out of college the other is almosg finished!! Watching you has now become a way to stay connected with my sons.... introduced games we could play together.... help me know what games to look for and recommend, and got me hooked on lets plays!!.... your seriously almost a memeber of the family at this point!! and its been such a privilege to get to watch you grow. To see the world open up before you, and kind of be a witness to the story of your life.... different set ups and houses, different countries, getting to watch you fall in love!! And omgoodness getting to know Gabs too!! You two are so perfectly suited to one another.... i can't imagine the calm and peace she has brought into your life.... its so much fun to see you guys together, the way you look at one another, the way you respect one another.... its just so clear how much love is in that home 🥰🥰🥰🥰 So excited to continue the journey with you, omgoodness please dont stop creating anytime soon!! Its been hard enough trying to deal with my Sons growing up and leaving home, it would be so incredibly hard to lose one of the few things i can still hold onto that still helps keep us connected, makes me smile even on the hardest of days.... AND helps me to have meaningful conversations with my sons!! I feel so sad when Jack talked about his legacy, i even got teary eyed because i can't imagine finding another person like him in youtube, similar to him in terms of morals and perspective on things as he genuinely made me become a better person. His takes on things wasn't just to him personally but it struck me as well and changed my personality. I became more mature and more openminded as a person and started to become optimistic so i'm a bit sad that he'll eventually say goodbye and just stop uploading videos, knowing that maybe i'll never meet him and see him have fun. That he'll become a memory one day and i'll just rewatch his old videos to keep myself happy and openminded.

Everyone starts to say the same thing over and over and it can genuinely start to lose meaning and, in my eyes, just feel like everyone's saying that to appease you. I can understand if it's genuine, but you can only say things like that so many times before it feels like they're just empty words.
And then on the flip side, as you said, you can easily start to get addicted to that positive feedback and shape your life around that.

for real man I like this comment a lot too and I feel when somebody really likes my artwork or music they have a lot more to say about it than somebody that's just trying to be polite and then not giving me any other feedback whatsoever. the whole reason I share my art with people is so that I can get feedback and if somebody doesn't like my stuff and actually tells me what they don't like I appreciate that way more. honestly I love it when people are just straight up honest and tell me what they think, as well as, if something's wrong with them I would much rather them tell me what's going on instead of pretending.

Glad to hear that even people like Sean feel insecure about their intelligence. I just recently realized that I struggle with the same problem...quite sure I probably also have a pronounced impostor syndrome. But I never talked about this too others because it seemed so silly to me.

Ngl this is just great. Not only are we witnessing the progress of a wonderful and amazing person. But also hearing the experiences, the thoughts and feelings of what this person is going through. Especially if that person is someone you've watched as a creator, looked up to, feel great watching the things they do, and create. It's absolutely amazing seeing how much things have changed over the years, how much more mature, how lovely and how much better things have become overtime.
I don't really comment much in larger TH-camrs I watch like here, and mostly comment on smaller communities or something like that, with the thought I wouldn't be seen anyways with the absolute flood of comments there are. But, even then, whenever I chat, I say what I think, I say what I wanna say, and I genuinely just wanna express what I love about this person, what I love being a part of this community and what I just feel whenever I watch them and being a part of this community for such a long time.
Im glad things are getting better for you, and would honestly love for it to get even better! What I say to other people is to just go at things at their own pace, and try not to overwork and stress themselves, because Health is top priority afterall! And I understand that it may be hard, but it's not impossible, and I believe it can help. That being said, I love these sorta stuff with Jack, as a long time Viewer, you kinda understand alot of things about him, stuff he may not be aware of too, and even been helped by him mentally and all that over the years. But you also gotta understand that he still has his personal life and his creator life, which are different things, but at times either one slips out, and when they do, you start to realise and understand more about em.
It's also worth noting how lovely and just how much Jack has changed for the better, and how much more comfortable he's become. It's amazing seeing the progress of this channel, seeing the progress of him as a person, seeing the community grow, and seeing myself grow along side him.
I ranted long enough lol, I could go on more. But yea.
Tldr: As a long time viewer and has witnessed how much things have changed, both his channel and him, I can confidently say just how amazing, how lovely and how much better things have become, and that He deserves the community he created, he deserves the recognition he has, and the absolute amazing things and people he has!!

@@brothersandsistersofvalhalla I wouldn't underestimate "changing just millions of lives." Many of those people go on to change other lives, even if they don't always realize it. In concept, it's a bit like the butterfly effect. Happiness really is often infectious. Acts of kindness inspire more acts of kindness.
I don't know. I like to think that anyone can do more good than they probably realize. That those good "blips" have bigger impacts than we really know.

Really glad to hear Sean give Soma a bit of praise, it's one of my favourite games and it deeply changed me as a person due to the existentialism it involved, and I feel like it doesn't get enough love because like Sean said it's not as tense/scary as amnesia, because a lot of the "horror" simply comes from the existentialism of the scenarios you're put into and the ideas it brings up
