I wanted to publicly commend you on your progression on the wheel... Seriously good work, your performance at the Best of British was outstanding, bravo!!👏
I just switched to a wheel for the 1st time. Ive always wanted one and finally decided to ditch the controller. I bought a Fanatec CSL Elite F1 Set and I'm loving it. Definitely going to upgrade to the load cell pedals.
@@ccramit Ya we call those sort of DD people, poseurs. I've actually beaten people playing with a wheel, while I used a clapped out controller in GT Sport and Forza 7. And I say clapped out because I've had to replace the left analog stick about (requires solder work) about 8 times within a year as they lose their accuracy and deadzone and also had to replace the springs in the triggers a handful of times. But I still know that I'm well behind the higher level racers who use wheels as I am about 1.7 seconds slower than them on average and overall less consistant lap times so when I do the longer daily races in GT Sport, I end up being more than 10 seconds slower than the leader in a given race. If I make a mistake, i can be more than 30 seconds behind. A wheel guarantees accuracy and consistent times. Similar to using an automatic transmission in drag racing.
@@rotor13 I'm actually getting the G29 for Christmas. In long daily races I'm about 30-45 seconds off and if I make a mistake I am well over a minute behind the leader. So with the G29 I'm getting, hopefully I am at least 5-10 seconds off the leader(with practice) and if I can get more comfortable and more consistent, could be on pace. Expensive rigs does not equal talent.
@@ccramit That is true, I've learned to be great with both, but I found the controller to be easer to use on GT Sport, thrustmaster brakes are very hard without loadcell.
@@rotor13 Why don't you try to win in something like Assetto corsa at least. Like, I beat my brother playing Need for speed 4 on a keyboard, he was using a wheel :\

I’d recommend looking on second hand markets like eBay, gumtree, Facebook, etc. I’ve managed to get a playseat challenge racing chair for £70 off eBay when they’re over £200 new. I got a wheel and pedal setup (Logitech g920 for Xbox), the manual shifter, racing chair to mount the steering wheel and pedals onto (playseat challenge) and a standard microphone bracket to mount the shifter from eBay for around £250 total. Best to buy the wheel first and try it to see if you like it.

Been watching you for a couple of months now, inspired me to get GT Sport over the Christmas holidays and now I’ve picked up a G29 (can’t justify spending the money of the fanatec yet and don’t have the space for a full sim rig) so thanks for getting me to blow holes through my bank balance....
I just upgraded to a csl elete after having a g29 and I gotta say, yeah it's very expensive but to me it's worth it, you feel the difference and quality, you get what you pay for.
Paused at 0:20, thank you for calling it the "Fanna Tech" which is how it's spelled. Here in America they call it, "Fanatic". I've always wanted to call it, Fanna Tech, but everyone here calls it, Fanatic. I'm glad that I haven't gone crazy, someone else calls it what it's spelled like.
Just returned my second T300RS in under 6 weeks. As long as you get a good one they're great. I know my brother has been using his for years. I've had no such luck though. My issues were force feedback clipping on the first and the motor on the second one sounded like a jet turbine. While I can afford the Fanatec no problem, the cost for a toy (be honest with yourselves people) is indeed difficult to justify. Decisions, decisions...
My mates just bought a new toy a yzr1000 it cost him 10k so a toy you can use all year round for £500 -£1000 without getting yourself deaded , is worth the cash
Thankyou for your honesty when asked if you were given the wheel base and pedals for free from fanatec. A high percentage of other reviewers will never give out this information no matter how many times their politely asked. It would also be nice to hear how the base operates whilst being used. You could have shown us how loud the Cogging was with a before and after edit of the FEI settings. Hearing the base working is better than a verbal discription of how it sounds.
I use the Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 wheel. Really wish I could have this setup cuz I'm in dire need of an upgrade. Great vid I'll consider looking into more ways to improve my own setup!
excellent review, I've just upgraded from a T300 to Fanatec system. Can totally agree with the difference in control the load cell brake gives. Just a couple of things to add for anyone using GT Omega rigs. I had the Classic and the Apex. They do not all line up with bolt holes for the pedals. There are enough to make it stable but once I have worked out what spacing I need with the Apex I will be drilling some more bolt holes.
Good to hear that and thank you for the information. Of course I can only review my own experience so thank you for highlighting your experience with the GT omega rigs.
Glad you're enjoying your gear and have it dialed in now. It's not that anyone NEEDS a wheel, especially a more expensive wheel. But the immersion just adds so much to the experience. Have you tried out a sim in VR? I suggest you DO NOT, unless you are ready to buy a VR setup. It's really that good.
Note that latest GT Sport update finally added support for speed/gear display on the McLaren wheel. Hopefully PD will add rev and yelloh/blue flags leds later on. Rotator switches still need TCS/brake/fuel tho.
Just started getting back into racing again. Never had a steering wheel before and been researching the past couple weeks. Thinking about jumping on this set for a first timer.
Im here in 2022 finally at 24 able to afford a dedicated sim rig for my spare time besides the car and other expenses for college . I found myself a nice deal and got with exactly 650 euros the csl elite base with the ps4 wheel, the clubsport v2 pedals with load cell and a challenger playseat . I love it to the max , there is no comparison for how big the upgrade is coming from a basic g29 with a wheelstand pro stand and desk chair :) . To mention is that im not a newbie by any chance as i do race irl karting so being able to cut the costs sometimes and hang in assetto corsa at the comfort of my home is amazing
Have you looked into the differences between the TMX and the TX? I have always been under the impression that the TX is a little bit better and for around the same price of a TMX you can get a TX servo base and piece a kit together
If you are having issues with tire wear in races, it's because you have turned off the force effects. That "rock" is telling you that you've turned your wheels past the grip point. That knocking noise will tell you to lessen your steering input. I'd recommend turning it back on and learning not to turn your wheel too much.
I'm pretty sure he was talking about the FEI setting on the wheel, and not Force effects in game. Since he was implying that it sounded like a rock bouncing in the wheelbase, which happens on the fanatec belt drive wheels st high fei percentages.
I’ve had this setup for a year now and it’s been faultless, the one thing I would add is with other games like AC & PC2 the compatibility is better than GT sport (but this is improving with gt sport updates) also the FFB is a lot nicer in those games and the wheel really comes into its own with the better FFB physics. If you only play GT sport then the TGT is the way to go but for multi game/format compatibility then the CSL Elite is the one to chose Also the full support from Formula 1 is awesome Plus if drifting or rally is your thing then being able to adjust the feeling and strength of the drift action (dri) on the fly is a really nice touch
BadFlounder gt sport does not support any LED displays like other games and has no support for the McLaren gt3 rim but I do believe this will come in later updates, compared to early days gt sport has improved massively with the CSL Elite.
Maybe you should ride with pilot shoes. It helped me a a lot for comfort and precision for braking. See you on Assetto corsa. Last thing : try vr once in assetto, you will be shocked.

I'm so used to just listen your voice on your videos that it feels strange to also see your face, but it is a great video nevertheless! Keep up with the good work!
G29 is a great wheel. I had one for years before finally upgrading to a v2.5 base and V3 pedals. I had just bought a gaming PC and Oculus so it seemed like the next logical step. It is a lot of money though. Don't let anyone tell you you NEED anything better than a G29/T300. A loadcell brake does make a big difference, but there are mods available for Logitech and TM pedals. Anything "better" is just more immersive. Some of the best guys on iRacing use G29s.
9:22 explain why did you so often not getting maximum acceleration on the corner exit. Thanks mate! That answers my question in the previous video (Wheel VS Controller)
@@diofujiwara Great wheel but has one serious flaw. The plastic holding the paddle shifter stress crack over time. Remove the rubber adhesive on the inside of the paddle to avoid this
@@diofujiwara bought a T300 base with the f1 rim, and coming from a Thrustmaster tmx, it is so much better. It is so much smoother and quieter without having gears like the tmx or t150. It's worth the extra cost difference between Thrustmaster's lower end force feedback wheels
I got Thrustmaster Pro pedals and they do come with a rubber cone which is pretty much the same as yours if I'm not mistaken. You can also build your own loadcell or get a mod. My next upgrade is to get a mod that measures how much pressure I'm using on the brake rather than how far I pressed it. Otherwise I'm pretty sure they are very comparable
I'm surprised you jumped from controller straight to Fanatec, bypassing G29 or Thrustmaster, but i guess it makes sense since you do this for a living. Thank you for the overview
You should try a 1ms monitor for your wheel setup, those quicker inputs could save milliseconds on your lap! .... I just realized how nerdy that sounds
Great review ! I've got the same feeling for the CSL Elite. Such an awesome wheel. Yes you have to empty your bank account but after a few weeks it's so much worth it. From an 8 years good old G27 to that beast is incredible. Much more than going racing in real life racing in a sad way but hey, you can drive with friends and enjoy your self every nights. :)
it looked like in the video you had the xbox mclaren wheel and gt sport on the screen? am i correct to assume that xbox wheels will work on ps4 and xbox? did you try any of these configurations with a pc ? clearly worded documentation on how to mix and match for multi system compatibility is the last thing left before i purchase a fanatec kit.
I think it started making that noise/“knock” because it’s a gear drive forced feedback system, not the belt driven system which is much smoother, faster, more accurate and quieter
Great Video. Better then many others because you talked about ALL the things which were important for me. Also, off side your very nice and Entertaining Videos about GT Sport, Videos like that or your Dirt Rally Videos are very nice and good to watch. Thanks for that 🙏🏻 And, can you also play with the McLaren wheel in GT Sport and other PS4 games?
I've already got a Thrustmaster T-GT wheel and I'm waiting on my load cell mod to come in for the pedals. I legitimately think that's going to be the best possible setup that's GT Sport compatible.
If you already have a decent wheel id wait to see how good the FeelVR DD wheel turns out before making your decision. The fanatec wheel wont be nearly as good an upgrade as a direct drive wheel.
definitely want to get myself one of those Fanatec wheels, but it's sooo close to the next generation of consoles, i'm kinda holding off because if i get one and it's not compatible with the next gen consoles, i'll be deeply bummed out... i DO very much love the fact that it's multi-platform with separate wheels, i didn't know that, so thanks for that info, Super GT!!
Just had a T300RS servo base take a dump after barely 27 months. Disappointing to say the least. This Fanatec set up is exactly the route I wanted to go. However, I stumbled into a "new in the box" T-GT for about $350 US which is a stonkin deal I think. I still really want this Fanatec set up in an achy kind of way, but at less than half the price I got a newer wheel and pedal system that's compatible with my 599 wheel. And if Thrustmaster will service(??) my T300 I can use it as a back up and hopefully never have my rig go down. Waiting on delivery, fingers crossed, fighting withdrawal symptoms and having Fanatec CSL Elite dreams. *sigh
I've have the same setup ( except the McLaren wheel and rig) and it is quality gear for sure and definitely worth the money , the only thing I've had issues with and it could be my fault is upgrading the firmware on the LC pedal, it can take a bit messing finding a setting you like but at least there's no end of settings to tailor to one's needs, the FEI I did have turned off but now it's on 30 and no clipping issues, I think this is offset by the DPR setting having it high. That's a lovely rig and what I'm hoping to get next, I currently have a Playseat but I think they're overpriced for what they are, they're not very comfortable imo.
The h-shifter is sooo fun to use but I find I use it more for Euro/American truck sim more than anything. The paddle shifters are easier for me in most racing games.
@@Kvltmaster Paddle shifters are easier but when driving a rally car or an older one, using clutch, the h-shifter really brings immersion, even though it makes you slower I'm pretty sure
with the pedals, i have the csw v3 pedals and the front bolts were a pain to get to but you just remove the heel plate to get access, that may be your issue, dont know though
There are guys who run the CSW base on a playseat challenge without much issue. I probably wouldn't go any higher than that, though. I don't know if it would even hold the weight of a DD base, much less handle the FFB.
Hey Super GT. Surely the Fanatec cover on your pedals would lift off so you could access the bolts? I don't know a lot about rig attachments but I work in a hardware store and usually there are clips or something that would be holding that plastic cover down.
od question. I have the impression (based on what I read and seen maybe on YT) that a lower force feedback would actually give more details int quality of the feedback. Is that something you noticed? is it maybe a thing just for DD and not so much for belt driven wheels?
Excellent review mate... You’ve just earned another sub... Have a quick question .. I know if you put an Xbox wheel on the PS4 CSL base it will work on Xbox, but will an Xbox wheel work on the PS4 using this base? For example, will that McLaren Xbox wheel connected to that PS4 CSL base work on GT sport? ... Keep up the great work on your channel...
Hi, yes that will work. In fact, I am always using my Mclaren (xbox) wheel on GT Sport. As long as the base is PS4, any wheel will work when you play on PS4.
The formula wheel at 2:37. Does it fully work on the PS4 wheel base. Heard it doesn't work all the time. Can someone let me know as this is a wheel I am considering
What monitor are you using? Also meant to ask, can you buy the three pedal set up separate rather than having to buy the two pedal setup with the wheel?
I've got the same wheel & pedals. Definitely worth the money. I had the soft spacers on the brake for a while but recently changed to the medium hardness and I'm finally feeling the difference that the load cell makes in consistency and overall control over braking. There are a few sim racing streamers that also have this kit and I think it's definitely one of the best you can get before making the jump to the premium/direct drive realm and a serious price increase. The Fanatec Clubsport series looks good too though. Well done review, very consistent with my own opinion/experience with the CSL Elite. Hope to see some PC content soon, maybe some Assetto Corsa or iRacing?
Hi Super GT, thanks for the video. Do you think the wheelbase will be supported for next gen consoles too? I might wait till Xmas to buy a fanatic wheel as I have been told they do good offers before Xmas? Could you also play GT Sport with a F1 rim?
Hi mate, Do you mind sharing the way in which you've set the brake (due the the adjustability), and the braking force on the wheel which correlates with this? Also, if you don't mind, what settings do you use on GT Sport? I've recently purchased a console and a wheel setup with these pedals, super keen to just plug your settings on and adjust to it.
like your channel, i wanna ask, when you play it on gt sport, does the wheel base provide the feedback when you drive on straight smooth road or up and down shift?
Can you recommend a good pc setup for this combo that would work well with iracing? Is it possible to buy plug and play? Or must it be hand built? Thanks for the great videos!!!🏁
Thanks to you and your suggestion of switching to the triggers for acceleration and braking I've now been able to improve my driving but also not having to rely on traction control. I'm now enjoying gt sport more now because of you, could you gives us a shout out in your next video please?
If you buy the pedals with the Load Cell kit, you can connect them with USB directly to the computer, and it works no problem with any wheel. Problem is, these pedals are not made to last, it's almost designed to fail. Knowing Banatec's legendary support, buy at your own risk.
@@olivers8516 no. Logitech products only work with logitech. I looked into mixing and matching out parts with add ons from other sim rigs a few months ago and found out that theres only more leeway if you're on PC or have products from other brands.

While the conical brake mod is a nice upgrade over just the standard spring, it really is no comparison to a load cell.
So wish I could afford and have the space for that setup
I'm surprised you jumped from controller straight to Fanatec, bypassing G29 or Thrustmaster, but i guess it makes sense since you do this for a living. Thank you for the overview
It makes perfect sense because they were given to him by the manufacturer FOR FREE.
Hey, your pedals still work! Impressive. Enjoy them while they last.
Passive aggressive trash talk...I love it when the ladies get feisty.
thanks for the video, some very good inspiration for the future =)
Many thanks =)
it looked like in the video you had the xbox mclaren wheel and gt sport on the screen? am i correct to assume that xbox wheels will work on ps4 and xbox? did you try any of these configurations with a pc ?
clearly worded documentation on how to mix and match for multi system compatibility is the last thing left before i purchase a fanatec kit.
Awesome review mate I think it may have made my mind up about upgrading between this and the T-GT. Thank you
I think it started making that noise/“knock” because it’s a gear drive forced feedback system, not the belt driven system which is much smoother, faster, more accurate and quieter
Still waiting on you setting up your rig to do the Kart races in Arma 3....
4:29 me, circa last year before i got my stand in...
Great Video. Better then many others because you talked about ALL the things which were important for me. Also, off side your very nice and Entertaining Videos about GT Sport, Videos like that or your Dirt Rally Videos are very nice and good to watch. Thanks for that 🙏🏻
And, can you also play with the McLaren wheel in GT Sport and other PS4 games?
Yeah, Fanatec has a direct drive solution for consoles. I run Thrustmaster and now they have a load cell pedal set, but no direct drive wheel.
I've already got a Thrustmaster T-GT wheel and I'm waiting on my load cell mod to come in for the pedals. I legitimately think that's going to be the best possible setup that's GT Sport compatible.
Were did you find the load cell?
Hi, is it possible to adjust the knocking sound out of the base if only using PS4? In other words not having access to a PC also. I liked this review.
Well, you can change FEI regardless of PC or PS4. So yes.
But if you buy the Mclaren Rim you actually get a quick release adapter with it. Fanatec actually include it when you purchase the rim :D
Great video.
That Nasa top is DOPE though
I'm really tempted to switch from Thrustmaster to Fanatec, but the price is a huge deterrent for me
My recommendation, if you're gonna go Fanatec, don't buy these CSL pedals. Go straight for ClubSport V3's.
If you already have a decent wheel id wait to see how good the FeelVR DD wheel turns out before making your decision. The fanatec wheel wont be nearly as good an upgrade as a direct drive wheel.
definitely want to get myself one of those Fanatec wheels, but it's sooo close to the next generation of consoles, i'm kinda holding off because if i get one and it's not compatible with the next gen consoles, i'll be deeply bummed out... i DO very much love the fact that it's multi-platform with separate wheels, i didn't know that, so thanks for that info, Super GT!!
david atfus the next PlayStation come’s out in 2022 three years and pc can you Every time use
*sigh
1:28 is that setting only on fanatec?
Not sure.
Another great video and a well made first review video. But my only question is where’d you get that dope NASA sweater?
Many thanks! Can't remember the website to be honest. Just google NASA sweater, you'll find it.
you should get the h shifter too its so fun
The h-shifter is sooo fun to use but I find I use it more for Euro/American truck sim more than anything. The paddle shifters are easier for me in most racing games.
@@Kvltmaster Paddle shifters are easier but when driving a rally car or an older one, using clutch, the h-shifter really brings immersion, even though it makes you slower I'm pretty sure
I plan to do so!
with the pedals, i have the csw v3 pedals and the front bolts were a pain to get to but you just remove the heel plate to get access, that may be your issue, dont know though
Good review. What TV are you using if I may ask?
I have a playseat challange, will it be strong enough to hold this thing?
Ilya van den Brandt probably
There are guys who run the
CSW base on a playseat challenge without much issue.
I didn't really notice this I would say.
Super GT Great.... thanks for the reply mate ... 👍🏼
The formula wheel at 2:37. Does it fully work on the PS4 wheel base. Heard it doesn't work all the time. Can someone let me know as this is a wheel I am considering
Love McLaren official f1 wheel wish had a gaming version like Ferrari sf1000 add on
Ok the Wheel which comes with the Wheel Base is for PS4, the F1 Wheel aswell. Is there also an McLaren PS4 Wheel
Now you have had the Fanatec for a while, what’s your favourite rim on GT Sport?
The Mclaren GT3 rim is my go to rim for GT Sport.
Never really seen it before, but the bonnet cam makes it look like it's EuroTruck Sim you're driving. 😂
Good review nobody of the videos I watched looking for reviews to pull the trigger to get one said nothing about the Xbox stuff
This muchdank feel at 11:04 ;) next time drink something and add some drinking noise for the memes, great video btw great editing and structure!!
many thanks, glad you liked it =)
What monitor are you using?
Tip: you don't need to use the screw when using the quick release adapter on the McLaren GT3 rim.
Great review.
What size tv have you got on your rig ?
Just looked this package up and it is not a cheap setup
Hi Super GT, thanks for the video. Do you think the wheelbase will be supported for next gen consoles too? I might wait till Xmas to buy a fanatic wheel as I have been told they do good offers before Xmas? Could you also play GT Sport with a F1 rim?
Just ordered T300 RS GT wheel It will be good enough for me
I’d love this exact setup with the 2 rims base and pedals but I can’t afford it which is annoying
Awesome setup. Great review.
I just saw your review and at all I like your videos. I just want to ask you what for settings you have on your Wheel? Greddings Mally
What specific setting did you adjust/turn off to eliminate the odd gt sport rattle in the base when understeering? Thanks in advance
Force effects intensity
Great honest review. What settings are you using on the wheel and in game on GT Sport?
Hi mate,
Do you mind sharing the way in which you've set the brake (due the the adjustability), and the braking force on the wheel which correlates with this?
Also, if you don't mind, what settings do you use on GT Sport? I've recently purchased a console and a wheel setup with these pedals, super keen to just plug your settings on and adjust to it.
like your channel, i wanna ask, when you play it on gt sport, does the wheel base provide the feedback when you drive on straight smooth road or up and down shift?
Do you Need the screw with the quick release? I thought you could use it without it
Turns out you are right.
your "Sim Lab P1" link is broken or they stopped selling it, any idea where i can find info on it?
Can you recommend a good pc setup for this combo that would work well with iracing? Is it possible to buy plug and play? Or must it be hand built? Thanks for the great videos!!!🏁
Great review, good editing
Thanks to you and your suggestion of switching to the triggers for acceleration and braking I've now been able to improve my driving but also not having to rely on traction control. I'm now enjoying gt sport more now because of you, could you gives us a shout out in your next video please?
Good to hear mate, glad to hear!
Thanks, I've managed to improve my qualifying time on the weekly race b at autodrome lago from 2 mins 4 seconds down to 2 mins point 5 seconds.
Quick questoin. I have a logitech g920. Do you think if I got those pedals they would work with my wheel?
If you buy the pedals with the Load Cell kit, you can connect them with USB directly to the computer, and it works no problem with any wheel. Problem is, these pedals are not made to last, it's almost designed to fail. Knowing Banatec's legendary support, buy at your own risk.
@@sky_004 I am on xbox... Will it still work with it?
@@olivers8516 no. Logitech products only work with logitech. I looked into mixing and matching out parts with add ons from other sim rigs a few months ago and found out that theres only more leeway if you're on PC or have products from other brands.
@@Zeenithian Ok thank you for your help
I'm really debating on buying A) A PS4 with GT Sport and B) A Fanatec CSL wheel, pretty much just because of watching your videos. I had a Thrustmaster TMX to see if I would enjoy using a wheel over a controller and it was terrible. Obviously the Fanatec is going to be better, I'm just nervous about spending hundreds of pounds on a wheel I might not get along with. Did you find there was a big learning curve going from a controller to a wheel? I'll be buying a wheel stand too not a rig cause I don't have the room yet.
