Thailand has never said that Thai culture is the prototype. Most of Thai culture comes from India and many nations that came into contact with trade in ancient times. Thailand has taken cultures from many nations and adapted them to form a unique culture called Thai culture, in contrast to Cambodia which boasts to the world that it is the model of culture for the world.

This year UNESCO announced Songkran festival IN Thailand to be a world heritage, that makes the CAMBODIAN people getting so mad because they said that it's originally their culture, their festival, they're the original.
But the truth is this festival is starting in INDIA, all of us in this region have this festival, maybe call it by different names but still the water festival held at around the same time (AUGUST), and we can accept that we not invented this festival but took it from INDIA, that why we let the UNESCO call it the Songkran festival "IN" Thailand, in school we told our children that this was originally from INDIA, not like the CAMBODIAN that try to say that even INDIAN 'S culture are a copy of their culture.😵💫

Cambodia never said India copied us, this is from yourlying mouth, in fact Cambodia was influenced by India and the mighty Khmer Empire created their own. Loy Pratit has been Khmer tradition since the mighty Khmer Empire era. It is written in stone that nobody can deny except you Thai ultra extremists. Becareful of their complements, they're trying to take you in their side. Please base everything on facts and deep learning and watch out for fake dates and manipulations. Sangkran I also originated from Cambodia. Sangkran had been mentioned 60 times in ancient stone inscriptions while their nothing found in Thailand. The UNESCO recognition is solely for the celebration in Thailand in recent times. Don't be fooled by these back stabbing people.

Cambodia is an empire ruled by Thailand for 400 to 500 years. The Khmer national costume is the Sampot costume. Khmers just know about Thai costumes. When Thailand had a drama called Prom Likhit So the Khmers dressed in Thai clothes and claimed that it was the Khmer national costume. Cambodia has never had a Loy Krathong tradition. There has never been a Songkran tradition. Even Thai boxing, the Cambodians claim to be masters of it. There are many more that Cambodia has claimed over Thailand.

I once show a picture of Khmer model wearing Thai dress nowadays (which claimed to be Cambodian national dress) from Pinterest to one of my Khmer friends and my mum’s friends whose also Khmer and they were completely shocked. They said that Khmer never worn anything like this back in the past. Then they showed me their pictures of the Khmer dress that they worn look like for occasions and formal back around in 2011-2013, they’re wearing the Sampot! (the Cambodian National dress!)
The only one dress that they mention was similar to the Thai dress is a Khmer gold wedding dress with a thin and soft garment sabai, it’s not really close to the Chut Thai the one with a long Sabai but it possibly got influenced from Queen Sirikit’s famous Chakri dress.
