My grandparent recall that mostly these statues that’s it’s damage or destroyed others body part it’s that Ancient Khmer Empire are known to be a golden location . Ancient builders insert gemstones and precious gems inside the statues for a sacred reason and so much more treasure that has been looted and damage in search of this precious pieces of valuable items .

You must ask yourself if they “owned” Khmer empire why would they not mourn for the loss of the statues that were going over seas. Like the khmers were mourning. Luckily, this segment of 60 minutes has shown the many sculptures and artifacts that have Khmer origins. Unfortunately, many people think of Cambodia as inferior and would like to keep them oppressed. There is literally writing on the walls of Ankor Wat that are in Khmer, and I hope that this video has given a better perspective on the ancient sculptures that have influenced the Cambodian culture.
