Why does Noon and China have the same character "Zhõng"?

Year late but i guess it's because it means "middle"

I think 不少 means quite a lot, not quite a few :)

Good! But some of those sentences will be better if we revise them as follow:
2. 今天冷吗？ Here, 冷 means cold.
3. 我爸爸在学校工作。Here, 我(的) omits "的" means my.
4. 我看了那个电影。Here, 了 goes after 看, so 看了 means watched.

I think you meant 看 not 着 here.
了 expressing completion has several uses. If we put 了 at the end of this sentence, we'd better say 我“看过”那个电影了。
Here are the differences between 看了电影 and 看过电影
我（昨天）看了那个电影。In English: I watched the movie (yesterday).
我看过那个电影了。In English: I have watched the movie (before).
